The strangely protective lycan alpha had nearly tackled her girlfriend, making sure that Eve got little to no damage from the rays. She also shifted her furred bulk to interpose between her friends and the dangerous lasers. As a result, Kennedy, Eryk, and the others around them would be significantly less damaged then most of those in the room.
It also meant that there were huge wounds all over Rae's body, and the smell of burnt hair hung in the air. Bits of blood had dripped on the floor. Rae had to simply stand for a while, her chest heaving, her jaws clenched. Pained eyes looked down at Eve.
Time ta get oot o' here. I like a fight as well as th' next lass, but we need tae save our skins. 'sides, I disnae want tae get m'arse fried by some b**ch.
Rae turned her head, nodding to Eryk. She then stepped over her girlfriend, looking over at Eve. Her eyes rolled, and she then noticed the wall. Despite Karmine's barrier, Rae could still barely make out the smell of the gas.
F**kin' hell.
Turning, Rae tried to survey her friends, to figure out who most needed help. Finally, she decided on the mostly charred body, figuring anyone who more closely resembled a hot dog then a person most likely needed assistance.

The silver dragon, Lian Wei, waffled. He knew that Nia was likely to lash out at them if they simply let the rebels go. But there were so many wounded. The gas was putting most of the people there to sleep, save for the Agents quick enough to slip masks on, or those powerful enough to resist the effects of the gas. The dragon sniffed, looking down at the shielded group.
"I don't want to fight," he growled again. His silver eyes flicked to Karmine. He knew the Fae. They'd fought before, as most people who trained in the small community had. As such, he knew that Karmine was an oddly honorable sort, and was certainly the type to put the students first.
"Arty!"
Trixie's voice distracted the silver dragon, and he looked down at the blonde. She'd managed to get a mask from somewhere, but he could still understand her just fine.
"Let them go, they weren't really doing anything. Nia did most of the damage," reasoned the woman. "And de Arcadia and Cavan can take care of the kids."
Trixie looked at Karmine, then at the recently conscious Kennedy. Her eyes also flicked to heaving she-wolf. Then, she mouthed two words: "Save them."
Lian Wei grunted, looking down at the group. "Go. It's better if you just get out of here."
He shifted, looking around the room at the mostly sleepy people. "And I wish you luck. Particularly if you really did pick up Wingblade. That's like carrying a scorpion on your back..."
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Cylo's buddy managed to handle the blast just fine. He was, after all, a demon as well. However, he did have to extend a hand to one of his companions, his Legion draining the poor unfortunate of some precious life energy. Clearly he didn't care. In fact, he wasn't quite sure he wanted to let the group go.
With malicious yellow eyes, he looked to them, particularly at the small red-head. Yes, she'd be fun...

Eryk nodded back moving over to Kennedy and nudging him with his nose. He motioned to his back trying to get his old friend to understand. Eryk could carry him if need be. If not he'd find someone else to assit. With a quick glance he saw that Eve was fussing over Rae and cursing quite colorfully at the woman names Nia.
Looks like your girl friend is just as spicy as you are, alpha. He let out a happy bark like laughter his tail wagging. Now that there wasn't really a fight he just wanted to get out. Again he nudged Kennedy with his moist snout to climb on his back. Eryk's hip might have a hole it in and some hair burned but he felt far better than a lot of people in that room. Besides the boy nearly thrived on pain.

Slightly disappointed that the fight ended so quickly the dragon slid the sword into his belt and turned to watch the fairy fly away. A twisted grin slid into place he went to the front doors and threw them open. He was going to be free. Unconstrained, unfettered, liberated. In quick long strides he made it back to the antechamber and spotted his new 'ally.'
"Who needs carried?" His voice strong and oddly light as he went up to the small group. When he noticed the smell of gas he turned and glared at he closest agent with a mask on. The agent backed away but not quick enough. The war dragon jerked off the mask and pushed with his other hand knocking the man to his rear. Butt, hind, tookus. In three strides he was beside the group, any agent in his way quickly got out of it. He loved being intimidating.
"Anyvun need mask?" My, my the sociopathic, war dragon was being helpful. So he was a tad gald to be getting out of a boring situation. To be free again. He noticed the mass amount of people wounded and straightened. It looked like one of his birthday parties. Celebration, blowout, soiree.

Star landed in the Labyrinth exhausted and battered. The ferret that was on his leg hanging on for dear life didn't help either. Exhausted as he was, he still didn't know who Kiri wished to contact.
"Kiri! Kiri wake up! Come on Kiri!" Aaron shook the little girl softly, too tired to attempt to call light to try and wake her up.
"Kiri you have to get up! Kiri! Kiri Honeywater!"

OOC: Aaron and Kiri, topic continues for you HereIC: Karmine looked around the room. The majority of them were gathered. "Kennedy, take the mask. The rest of us can deal with it. Ok, I know a way to find them, it's not easy and it's not fun, but I can do it. I need to get to Greenleaf, and you." He said pointing to Kennedy. "Need to come with me. Kiri should be there, I sent her on ahead. The rest of you...Does anyone know the ones who were kidnapped? Any of them?" He looked to Eve, he knew that she had met Morgan and had at least seen Locke. But did she know either of them well enough? "We need people who can track. Hey wait, Rae, how sensitive is your sense of smell? And I swear to god I am not calling the lycan pack alpha a hound dog, so don't chew my throat out ok?" He sighed and turned towards the door. "Me and Kennedy will go to Greenleaf, if the rest of you can find a way to track the kids...well that would be ideal. If not my plan will work. I will contact you later." He started to take off before realizing something. "Oh shit...how the hell am I going to get Kennedy there?"

This was not going to end well. For one thing, Casey was apparently losing to a pack of animals. Mostly harmless animals, for that matter. For another, the two faerie children were beginning to get away from him.
Suddenly, Casey felt something vibrate on his side. He jerked away from the killer duck and yanked a device from his belt. He studied it quickly, noting the instructions presented there. Basically, back the hell up.
Casey raised both hands and began backpedaling, hoping the animals didn't get too violent. In truth, he was happy that they were letting the "rebels" go, as he hadn't particularly wanted to hurt them in the first place.
"No eat me, okay?" he offered, smiling nervously. The duck looked about ready to kill him. Sighing, Casey reached down slowly, and the duck quacked.
"Look, that girl's going to need healing. Here," Casey tossed a small bag at the duck. Oddly enough, the ferret picked it up. "That's some pills the Academy developed. Should patch her right up. Now, you three had better get out of here... and all the rest of you too."
He waved at the animals.
"Just hurry, okay?" he asked, backing up some more.

Lucky I like th' lad, mentally muttered Rae, rolling her eyes at Eryk. she then looked up at Karmine, nodding slowly. Yes, she could track, more or less. She was a city wolf though, and not likely to be able to find anyone. Besides, she really didn't think tracking would work that well, but she'd have to wait to share her feelings with Karmine.
The alpha padded to the edge of the shield, pausing to look over her shoulder.
Eryk, nudge Eve an' take th' rear. I'll take point, an' we can let th' others fill th' holes.
Rae took a few steps, then paused to wait. Once all were ready, she was willing to pad out with them.

OoC: actually, now that i think about it, it's not "Greenleaf" as that was the WoM term; Jackie's supposed to rename it... [we cannot steal from them, Madam M. will have a bf]
Nodding, Kennedy took the mask without arguing. He did look a little wary around the massive man, as he happened to be bristling with muscles. Besides, Kennedy had seen Scythe in action before, and wasn't certain he wanted that anywhere near him, let alone Morgan.
"Greenleaf?" repeated Kennedy. He blinked in surprise. Why did that sound familiar? He followed Karmine without thinking too much about it. His hazy mind finally worked some things out.
"Faeries," he managed around the mask, smiling. "The faeries love me. I used to see them as a kid... and my dad..."
He shook his head. stupid headache was making it hard to think and talk. "My dad got some kind of blessing from the Fae. It's why he doesn't age at all. Something to do with a mission. Just tell them I'm a Cavan. Or I will."
Kennedy smiled wryly, picturing himself telling the Fae anything in his condition.

Eve didn't need Eryk to nudge her she stood and stormed over to Rae's side. She glanced back at the talking boy, then to her teacher. This was not what she had expected when coming to they had summoned them all to the antechamber that day.
Leo was charcoal, but alive? Young ones were taken, and people were dead or hurt all around her. Her mother was going to have fit when she heard about this. Something people did not want to deal with was an angry war dragon. Worse? An angry mother war dragon. Maybe she better hold off on that letter home.
She rested a hand on Rae her eyes full with worry. She'd protected Eve. She'd taken a lot of pain for her. Standing beside Rae in wolf form she was ready to kill some folks. Kill the people who started all of this.

Kirien hated herself for losing her composure over Cylo. If her any of their enemies saw...she could have shown a sign of weakness. If they chose to exploit that...
If she was lucky, she might be able to convince anyone who wasn't too close that she was trying to drain him. She released her wounded friend's hand, forcing herself to try projecting indifference to his predicament. Her expression was blank, and her eyes narrowed, for maybe a second or two.
Forget him!
She urged herself, but found that she could not. Perhaps her concern would convince their enemies that she was a poor fighter. That's what her father seemed to think friendship did, anyway. In that case, she could have an advantage, if she caught them off-guard...she didn't look like much, even if she did have a handaxe sitting next to her.
She felt the yellow-eyed demon's gaze, and responded by giving him a hard stare and a fiendish grin. She knew a challenge when she saw one, and was she ever eager to take it. Her body was screaming at her to fight.
Hopefully her opponent was more interested in stabbing her with those spikes of his, than analyzing her actions.
She took her axe in her right hand, and loosened her ever-present red cloak with her left.
"Do you want to play? Hehehe..."
I wonder what color you bleed! Hee hee! I hope it looks good on you!
She straightened herself and moved a safe distance away from Cylo, beckoning the demon closer with her free hand.
Because you'll be wearing a lot of it.
Her hands were shaking in anticipation.

Karmine followed Rae out the door and found an agent in the hall. The first thing he noticed was that he had several animal wounds on him, the second was that a discharged gun (of what kind Karmine couldn't tell, but it had some sort of tether on it.) laid on the floor, but no bodies.
"She's a bit tougher then everyone seems to think. Looks like Kiri got out ok. I'll see if I can catch up to them, you guys come along at your own speed. If I can-." And then he held up his finger for silence, which he didn't get.
"Can't hear it, I need ta go outside." He said, running out of the Academy to listen to whatever it was he heard.

Seeing as no one was jumping up to carry the weak looking boy the war dragon's face went dark. His eyes focused on the young man and he knelt beside him eyes boring into the boy. He'd been one of those who'd gotten all riled up over the missing children. Took some gonads to stand up to Nia. Balls, guts, gumption. Or insanity.
"Eef no vun else carries boy. I vill." His trunk like arms slipped under the young man and hefted him easily up into the air. The dragon quickly caught up with everyone else but paused and looked back at the charcoaled body. Shouldn't someone get him too? Not one for a conscience he shrugged and turned away. He was following the fairy with the red hair, and the fairy wanted the boy. Lad, man, chap.
As soon as he got to the hallway he spotted Casey and his grin of the grim reaper flittered across his face. Time enough for that later. Wishing he had time enough to just give the peon one swift kick to the cranium he turned and went after the fairy. Fae, pixie, bug. The others, well he didn't care about the others, and as soon as this little duty was done he wouldn't care at all. He'd be free.[/color]

Everything was happening far too fast for Kennedy to really comprehend. Especially while his world was still spinning. His stomach lurched, and he nearly lost his lunch.
Fortunately, he managed to keep it down. This proved to be especially good, as Scythe soon picked him up and started after Karmine. It didn't surprise Kennedy that the dragon could carry him so easily, but it did surprise him that the dragon would even bother to do so. Maybe it was because they were on the same side. Maybe Kennedy had managed to impress the dragon somehow.
Maybe Scythe just wasn't that hungry.
"We need a safe house," he managed, fighting to take charge even though he was being carried. "Rae, lead us to the Cave, we'll hide out there for now..."
But it was one of the first places the Academy would look, and it really wouldn't do for all these people. No, Kennedy had a good idea of where they needed to be next...
"We'll head to Illinois from there, and try to figure out where the baddies went..."
Hopefully Karmine could figure that out. If not, well, Kennedy did have an ally he could call upon, should it come to that.

Post by Ϛ Cylo on Jan 24, 2009 20:37:13 GMT -5
Cylo stirred the moment Kirien's hand left his, and he let out a quiet groan as the last of his wounds sealed with a painful sort of sucking feeling. As he pushed himself up onto his knees, the remnants of his clothing crumbled and fell to the ground. Luckily, fire-proof underwear was a staple of life in the Buckham household, due in part to a mischievous dragon sister, so he was left with at least his black and red plaid boxers in addition to his friendship bracelet.
As he stood he saw Kirien about to face off with the spiney demon, and Karmine leaving the area. He thought it was probably not smart to stick around here when all of their 'allies' were leaving, so he did something he was pretty sure he'd end up regretting.
"All right, let's go," he said with a grunt of exertion, picking Kirien right up off her feet from behind. As soon as she was off the ground, he ran after the other rebels in a blur of motion. He himself didn't like running away from a fight, so he imagined Kirien wouldn't exactly be happy about it either.
She's going to kill meeeee...
It didn't take long for the demon to reach the others, and when he did, he found that he didn't exactly know what to do. He was standing there in his boxers carrying a girl with an axe and temper issues, and he didn't know a single person in the crowd.
Or did he?
"Eve! Hi! Uh... what's up?" Cylo said, finding it difficult to force a cocky, uncaring smirk onto his face in his current position.
