Robin lokked to the spilled juice and laughed. You have to be the clumsiest girl i've ever met. he teased as he picked up the glass and grabbed a napkin to damp up the liquid. he glanced over at her and chuckled more. the sunlight beamed down on her and she seemed to glow right there before him. his laughter died as he stared at her.

Casey found the sound of his laughter almost comforting. It put her at ease knowing at least he wasn’t upset with her. “Really, I’m not, I swear.” She said still laying there with her hand over her face as if not wanting to come to terms with the problems she’d caused. “I’m just . .” Just what, she thought. Was she nervous around him, or maybe just having a bad day today? She had no clue, but she wasn’t really enjoying it. When his laughter stopped, she tensed a little, wondering if she’d done more damage than just spilling juice. Opening the eye closest to him, she peeked out to find him staring at her. “What?” she asked, removing her hand from her face as she sat up. “Yeah I know, I screwed this all up, I’m an idiot and you’ll never talk to me again. I know, I know, and I’m sorry for all the trouble I’ve caused in the past two days.” Rolling her eyes, she moved to help him clean up the mess and try and dry things off the best she could.

Robin reached out and grabbed her hand to stop her. You haven't caused any problems, Casey. I... I think it's adorable. he said and cupped her chin with his other hand as he leaned closer to press his lips to hers. He practically growled at the taste of her. He felt his entire body hardening with a sudden need to have her beneath him, skin to skin.

Casey looked at him, like he was some crazy insane guy, and tiled her head. “So you think this is adorable?” she questioned, finding that extremely hard to believe. A girl acting like her would have run any normal guy far, far way by now with all her stupid wrong timing and horrible luck. Maybe he wasn’t normal, or maybe he was sticking around for the wrong reasons. She could be falling into the same trap she’d fallen for so many times. Problem was she had a hard time stopping once she found the thought in her head that any guy could be decent, even if he sure wasn’t acting like it.
When his lips once again met hers, she returned the kiss, more careful of where the rest of her body was as not to disturb anything else today. A slight moan escaped her lips as her eyes flickered close before she suddenly pulled away. Licking her lips, she found the taste of him there very enticing but kept her head about her, determined not to make the same mistake as she had before. “What are we doing?” she asked, looking at him with a curious yet serious gaze. A picnic in the park the day after she met this guy, not they were kissing? What was wrong with her head, or more importantly where was it?

Robin sighed and pulled away, getting to his feet. I don't know. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked you to come today. I shouldn't have kiss you. I... It's too dangerous for me to... he turned away form her and shoved a hand through his hair, tryingto clear his head and calm the sudden need inside him.

When Robin got up, Casey followed suit and stood, taking a few steps toward him. “No I’m glad you asked me today. But lunch is far from making out in the park.” She spoke softly voicing her concerns though not too strong to get worked up. “The kiss, it was nice, but it doesn’t need to be anything more right now. I don’t know anything about you.”
Walking up close behind him, she tilted her head at his last words. “What’s dangerous?” she asked in a nosy way. “Sure I disagree with what was going on, but I wouldn’t consider it dangerous.” Reaching a hand out, she rested her arm lightly on his shoulder. “Is there something else I should know?”

Casey took her hand back when she felt him tense, a confused look on her face. “I don’t want to run away.” She said simply. She didn’t know how to run away from problems, she was the one who got stuck very deep in the middle of them. Truthfully it would do her a world of good to learn to run when something started to go bad. “It could be something more, just not overnight,” she added, liking the idea of having someone to talk to in her life, maybe a man someday but she knew she had to learn to take it slow, not all guys were good for what they said they were. With that, she lightly touched his shoulder again. “I’ll go, but only if you seriously don’t want to see me again, or if I’ve just ruined this date too much for it to go anywhere else.”

He shook his head as he turne dto face her, taking her hand in his. NO.. Casey. you didn't ruin anything. This has nothing to do with you. I want to be able to see you again. I just don't know if I can without hurting you. he said sadly.

His comment greatly confused poor Casey. She just couldn’t wrap her head around what he was saying. “I don’t get it. If you’re not mad at me and want to see me again, why would you hurt me if you didn’t want to?” she asked with wide slightly green eyes. He was saying this didn’t have anything to do with her but it had to, she couldn’t think of anything else it could be. Taking a few steps back from the man, she sighed. She had gotten a little too ahead of herself and this was moving much faster than she wanted so it was time to take a step back and breathe. Maybe spend a few days all alone curled up in a dark room to get her head on straight. Maybe she needed another few years off before she got into this twisted game again.

Robin sighed. It's hard to explain. But there's a reason i had to come to New York so youngto start over. I.. I'm just not ready to tell you what that reason is. I should go. I hope I see you again. Maybe then we can... start fresh. he said and started to turn to leave.

Casey listened as he talked and nodded understandingly. She didn't feel she deserved an explanation, it wasn't her place and he shouldn't want to tell a stranger her secrets. But as he walked off, she couldn't help but feel something. Most likely and self center sadness. Sadness in losing a person, a person she felt could mean something to her in the future; if even as just a friend. "Damn," she muttered, letting her eyes drop to the ruined picnic. Kicking over the bowl of grapes, she turned and headed towards home. Or whatever you'd call the University. "Such a screw up." Her voice was low and without meaning, as if she was just talking to the empty space in her head. At that moment she knew she'd be running alot in the next few days, running to release some tension, keep her sane.

Robin stopped and watched her walk away. A longing pulling at his heart. He wanted someone to confide in. Wanted a friend, a relationship of anykind. No. It wasn't possible for him. Even as he tol dhimself this he felt his darker half stirrring inside him. He growled and tried to push it back. But it was too late. His borwn eyes began to darken til tehy were so black you couldn't tell where the pupil ended and the iris began....

Casey spent the next few weeks trying to find herself. She stayed in her dorm most of the day studying for classes, went running late in the afternoon and came back to crash in her bed for the night; only to wake up the next morning and do it all over again. It became a routine for her though and the structure did her a world of good. So much good that after about two weeks or so, she felt so good about herself, so confident she was in control of her life that she returned to that little coffee shop in the city of Brooklyn looking for Robin. As she walked by the big front windows, she gazed inside, wondering if maybe it was too late in the morning to catch him, maybe he’d been here already and left. Entering the shop anyway, she strode up to the counter and ordered a small coffee, casually peeking around at the people enjoying their morning.
