Casey smiled slight when he voiced his opinion about the noise. Personality she couldn’t understand the whole city thing. Sure she’d left the county and moved to the city for work, but that was different, she didn’t really enjoy all the noise and commotion. Sometimes she missed those lazy mornings in the country, just out in the middle of no where, where you can see the sunshine for miles and the clearest skies at night. Then when he said he would leave, she shook her head opening her mouth. “No, I don’t want you to leave.” She said quickly and then thought maybe that sounded a little too eager. “It’s just you didn’t look too happy sitting there, talking to me. You just looked a little sad, not really with it.” She said, thinking again she must sound like some rude person who couldn’t think before she talked. And seeing as she normally wasn’t a talker, maybe it was true.

Robin smiled crookedly. Sad? Me. no... I was just thinking about something. It's ancient history now. Doesn't matter. the past is best left in teh past. he said drainging teh last of his coffee and setting teh cup aside.

Casey saw him smile and couldn’t help but return the favor, offering a very sweet subtle smile. “Sometime the past leaves walls that are hard to break through. You just can’t get over some things.” She said lowering her head. Her own mind drifted into her past experiences leaving an almost grimace like expression on her lips. She had tried to leave her past behind her too, but it snuck up behind her sometimes. Gripped her by the throat and choked her till she couldn’t breathe anymore, it wasn’t a happy day when she was forced to remember things that happened long ago. “You want another coffee?” she asked as he set his empty cup down. “It’s the least I could do after today. We’d be pretty even then.” She said and moved to the edge of her seat to get up. At least she would ask, instead of just getting up and buying one like she thought he would need another.

Robin bit her lip. No... thanks though. But. Maybe you can buy me a coffee another day. he smiled. He knew all about those damned walls. He had way too many of them. I come here every morning. he added leaning back in his seat as he returned a wave to one of teh waiters comeing in for work.

Casey sat back into her seat when he said no, but a bright smile was found on her face at his offer. “I just might do that for you someday.” She said nodding more to herself. It almost felt like an offer for a date but it wasn’t really. The decision was all hers and she found herself thinking she might be coming back to the coffee shop sooner than she thought, maybe she’d be spending quite a bit more time her. She bit her bottom lip and ran her hand randomly through her hair, taking another sip of her coffee. “So you just sit here all day long in this little coffee shop?” she asked turning hazel green eyes up to meet his.

He chuckled. No. Just a couple hours every morning before I have to go to work. I'm a contractor. I work on leaky roofs and such. he said glancing down at his calloused hands. he looked back up at her and smiled again, her eyes were so captivating. He mentally kicked himself. He couldn't let anything grow here.

Nodding, she found that the sip she had just taken was her last and the cup was now empty. This made her fear this little conversation would be over, and she’d have to be on her way. Setting the cup down, she frowned and looked past him out the window. “Sounds like a really interesting job. Must keep you busy.” She added following his gaze to his calloused hands. He was a worker, she liked that. Couldn’t stand a man who sat on his ass all day and couldn’t be bothered to get up and do anything himself. “So do you only drink coffee before work or do you ever eat breakfast too?” she asked with a light laugh. Maybe she could drag out this friendly meeting a little longer.

Hmm... depends on teh mood i'm in that morning. he said with a smile. Are you hungry? This place has the best danish pastries in teh city. he said raising his hand to signal a waiter over. He didn't want this conversation to end either. He had a couple hours before his first job of teh day. And he didn't want to spend it alone. Though his knew he really shouldn't spend anymore time with her.

Casey smiled, “Well if you’re in a mood to eat something this morning, than I’d be happy to share the time and eat something with you,” she offered as he waved a waiter over. Looking around really for the first time, she found it was really a nice little place; a great place to spend the morning before work just watching the people go by. She saw why he liked to spend time before work here. Nodding she knew today was going to be a good day, at least for the next few hours after she left here, it was going to be a good day.

Robin smiled as he ordered them a few danishs and looked back to Casey. So... I know you're not from New york. Not teh right accent. So what brings you here? he asked. He wasn't from New York either. He was from Rhode Island. Robin leaned back in his chair as he watched her.

Casey laughed at his words and sat back in her chair. “No I’m not from New York, you got that right.” She said shaking her head. “Never stepped foot here other than the past few months.” When he mentioned the accent, she bit her lip a little wondering if she had some accent that wasn’t acceptable around her. “Sorry, is the southern twang coming through?” she asked looking seriously at. She’d thought she dropped the deep southern accent years ago when she left home, but she never really listened to herself talk either. “School brings me here,” she muttered, feeling stupid to say it. Here she was twenty years old and going back to school. “Sounds really stupid, but it keeps me from getting into trouble. Are you from around here?” she asked wondering if he was one of those who grew up on the city streets. She always wanted to be one of those people when she was younger, but now she was becoming thankful for her southern roots.

He shook his head. No. I'm from Rhode Island. I moved here about four years ago. Needed a new scene. A fresh start. he said thanking the waiter when he brought teh food. He picked one up off teh plate and slid the plate to her. Try it. they're great. he said indicating the strawberry and cream cheese stuffed flakey baked bread.

Casey listened intently, she didn’t know much about Rhode Island at all, but whatever they did up there, some nice looking guys sure come from that way. “You came here four year ago? You must have been just a kid.” She voiced but then shook the thoughts from her head. Was she really finding this guy attractive? What was wrong with her head? She got really quiet then and was thankful when something came for her to put in her big mouth to keep her quiet. Taking a big bite of the Danish, she found it very tasty and nodding her head in a satisfactory way, almost like a horse would a peppermint treat. “That’s really good.” She agreed, her mouth still have full as she covered it with her hand to voice her opinion. At this point, she’d completely forgot about the stained, sticky, shirt she was wearing.

Robin smiled when she said she liked the danish. He bit into his and watched her eat hers. He had pretty much been a kid when he came to new york. He'd barely been seventeen years old. but he'd already been on his own since he was fifteen. but he didn;t tell her this. He didn;t want to get into his past. It tended to bring out the darkness inside him.

Casey greeted his silence with quietness within herself. She wasn’t very sure what else to say and already felt they were getting a little too much into this. Better to just keep it simple and quiet for right now. Taking the rest of the pastry and popping it into her mouth, she smiled and leaned back, and looked out the window, crossing her legs under the table for a more comfortable position. She watched the people walk past and sighed contently. “I see why you like to spend your mornings here. It’s nice just to watch before having to get on the work and the rest of your day.” Smiling softly, she rested her hands in her lap, having nothing else on her mind at all. She’d had her breakfast and was ready for whatever the rest of the day through at her; this having had to be one of the best mornings in a long time.
