Robin walked down the sidewalks of Brooklyn New York. He loved the city. Loved the busy sights and sounds. It kept his mind focused, occupied. Otherwise something might happen that he didn't want. He ran a hand through his dark hair and slipped his other hand into his jeans pocket as he crossed teh street to his favorite coffee house.
He entered through the main door and walked over to a two chair table in a corner by the big front window. He liked to watch the people walking by. How normal they seemed. He wished he was normal. He ordered a plain black coffee, just like he did every morning. Routine was good to keep his mind focused.

Casey walked slowly down the sidewalk, enjoying all the sights and sounds that were new to her, this city. She was gazing across the street as some store when he phone rang. With an annoyed look on her face, she looked at the name of the screen and just rolled her eyes, wondering why people couldn’t just leave her alone. There was nothing she could do to help anyone who was miles away, but apparently her sister didn’t understand that. Hitting the silent button, she shoved the phone back into the pocket of her jean shorts and looked ahead so she wouldn’t run into anyone on the street.
Seeing the coffee house up ahead, she decided something to drink sounded really good right about now and she entered the building, gazing around before heading to the counter. She waited patiently for her coffee and once it was in her hands, she turned, looked around for a seat and lifted the cup to her lips, making sure it was just right. After she decided it was satisfactory, she took a seat next to the window, noticing a guy nearby and leaned back to gaze out the window while thinking to herself. Her phone rang again and she growled, reaching to see who it was this time and in the process knocked her newly purchased hot coffee all over herself. “Oh shit!” she voiced as she jumped up pulling at the front of her top which what now covered in hot liquid and sticking to her stomach.

Robin's eyes got wide as he watched the spectacle. I hate it when that happens don't you? he said as he grabbed some napkins and came up to her, handing them to her. He offered a sheepish smile.

Casey rolled her eyes as the man offered his help and spoke. "Yeah like it happens to you so often." she voice, with a hint of anger, of course it was directed to herself and not at the stranger. She was nowhere near a point to smile at the man and instead just grabbed the napkins and started wiping up the table while wringing out her poor shirt. “Thanks.” She mumbled once she was a little calmer and not so upset. She couldn’t figure out why she didn’t just use her powers in the first place but apparently her head was just in a different place. Finally offering a smile to the helpful person, she picked up the empty cup and tossed it in the trash along with the soaked up napkins. “Sorry to ruin your peace and quiet.” She said, with a very apologetic look on her face, as she gazed out the large window again. Maybe this just wasn’t the day to be out and around people.

He shrugged. It's alright. I don't much like the quiet anyways. It lets my mind wander into dark places. he said to her. Here. let me get you a fresh coffee. he said and headed to teh counter before she could protest. He came back a few minutes later and handed it to her. Just don't spill this one. Not sure you're shirt will hold out a second attack. he teased.

Casey tilted her head when he explained that he didn’t much like the quiet and his mind wondered to dark places. “Well than I must have just made your day,” she muttered, shaking her head with a frown. But then he was gone to get her another coffee even though she really didn’t think she should have another one; didn’t trust herself very much at the moment. As soon as he returned and handed her the fresh cup, she took it with a friendly smile, but automatically set it on the table where it was less likely to go flying from her hands. “Thanks again,” she voiced softly, a very thankful glint in her eyes. He seemed like such a friendly, nice guy. Lord knows she hadn’t come across too many of them lately. Chuckling when he mentioned her shirt, she looked down with a grimace at the large brownish stain that covered pretty much the whole front of her grey shirt. Shaking her head, she just sighed to herself, wishing to just pull the sticky fabric off now, but that wasn’t very appropriate for the moment.

No problem. he said letting his gaze slid over her then back up to her eyes. He smiled charmingly. So what made you knock over your coffee in the first place? Did it say something wrong? he teased.

Casey laughed and sat back down at the little table, motioning for him to take the seat across from her. So he was a funny man, liked to joke at things. Normally it would drive her crazy that some strange guy would be making jokes as her when she was not in a good mood and covered in coffee. But his way seemed to put her at ease. Rolling her eyes, she set her hands on the table, far from the new cup of coffee and looked him right in the eyes. “My phone rang. It seems my sister doesn’t know what ‘leave me alone’ means and can’t wrap her head around that fact that I can’t solve all her problems for her. I should tell her she owes me a new shirt.” Casey chuckled but then lowered her gaze to the table after retelling her story. She was never one to be talkative and now she had some guy sitting with her at the table that she had no idea what to say to.

Robin grabbed his own coffee and sat down across from her. He listened to her story and smiled at her. Well, make sure she buys you two new shirts, just in case. he said with a chuckle. Is she a little sister? he asked her as he sipped his coffee.

Casey smiled and glanced at her shirt again. "She's gonna have to buy me a lot more if she keeps interrupting me." she said laughing in a light and almost happy way. She didn't laugh often and it seemed only when she was in a very truly happy mood. Being brave, she ventured a hand out and lifted her coffee slowly, carefully bringing it to her lips to take a quick sip before setting it back on the solid surface again. "Yeah little sisters are so annoying. But somehow I feel like I have to be there for her. Like I have to be the big sis and give her advice, guide her along the right road. I guess I just forgot what kind of stupid problems go on in a sixteen year olds world." Casey chuckled and took another sip, finding herself more relaxed and not so tense about dropping this cup too.

Robin barely remember being sixteen. Shadoe, the evil part of him, was more incontrol then. I wouldn't know. I don't have any younger siblings. he said. And teh older ones he had dind't want anything to do with him... he was defective. His parents were scared of him. A sadness crossed his face before he lowered his head to stare at his cup. He had to shove away the sadness before the anger came. Things would not be pretty if the anger came.

Casey just nodded, a more serious look wiping the smile away. “Well you’re certainly not missing anything. Be lucky you don’t have to deal with younger people bugging you and ruining your day.” She lifted the cup again and took a long drink since it was cooler now. Her statement may not have been completely true though. Sure her younger sister got on her nerves, but she still loved her and wouldn’t want anything to happen to her. And she loved her family even though she preferred to stay a good distance away from them, feeling she’d cause them more trouble than good. Looking back across the table at the man, she noticed the sad look on her face and wondered if she’d said something to upset them. Maybe he used to have a younger sibling and she’d reminded him of something that had happened. A feeling of stupidity crossed her mind but she pushed it away, after all she didn’t know the guy it was just small talk. “I’m Casey, by the way.” She said softly, feeling a need for introductions though she would completely understand if the guy just got up and left without saying a word. She was used to that, it either that or being punched in the face for her in the past.

Robin forced himself to look at her with a weak smile. Robin. It's nice to meet you Casey. He said in a kind charming voice. His brown eyes gazed at her as his weak smile crooked up on one side. She was pretty girl. Too bad this couldn't be anything more than coffee. He couldn't risk hurting someone as sweet as she seemed to be.

Casey felt his eyes on her, looking at her and she wasn't sure if she liked it. She wasn't ready for another guy in her life, and not one that she had just met like this. "It's nice to meet you too, Robin. And thank you so much for your help." she smiled softly, her fingers wrapped lightly around the coffee cup. "You know, I would completely understand if you just wanted to get up and go. After all if was me who pushed in on your day, you don't have to stay and talk." she didn't want to seem rude, but could tell his head wasn't really here right now. She wasn’t complaining either, in fact she didn’t care whether he stayed or left. Seeing as how she had the tendency to move a little too fact in relationships she didn’t want to get too comfy and cozy over coffee either.

Robin smirked. Oh.. it's alright. I told you i enjoy the noise. It's why i live in the city. he paused and tilted his head. Unless you want me to go. I will. just say the word. he said completely prepared to hear those exact words. People didn't liek him. He didn't have any friends. NO family to speak of, least not any that wanted him around. He was a freak. a dangerous freak and he knew it.
