I thought we were pretty much humanoid-ly ?
And I think people generally should stick to the species listed, rather than coming out and declaring they want to roleplay a talking animal/half animal.

WHUT. not you !! not Rob !!! i just mean, think about it. is it very practical to allow any person to claim a new species, where we would then have to write up a description and rules and etc, for that species, just so that one person can be what they want to be ?

Hey now, put down the pitchforks for a minute!
I'm not saying we should all roleplay animals or what have you - there's other sites for that - but the fact is you're going to get people asking about it, so might as well address it now. And we -did- have some people roleplay animals/half-animals (We had a centaur, and a bunch of catboys/girls) previously. I think people roleplayed stuffed animals, actually, so it's not that weird that I'd bring this up.

nah, you were very in the right (: (not Rob >.<)
i think, for me, it's the question of 'how far it all goes.' i know the species are not real, but at least the explanation (not the artifact) behind the gifts make some sense; mutation ? and all that. it's important to me to maintain a touch of reality. if there can be believable explanations behind most things, then i'm cool with that.
examples like mermaids and centaurs (and stuffed toys) become too similar to 'wands' and 'spells' and other stuff >.<

I think we can 'logically' explain a lot, but that only goes so far; we're always going to have magical influence. Take faeries, for example, or dragons, or Djinn (by the way, I'm excited, I see you guys have a Djinn-color now). Mermaids and centaurs can be explained similarly to Locke. Something-or-other went wrong. Some monster caused a weird effect, our badguys were doing experiments, whatever. We don't need whole separate species unless we can't tweak what people want to fit what we already have.

I'm not particularly for or against it myself, but I do like variety, and it's going to come up eventually.

I think it is good "IN MODERATION".
If the majority of people stay in the boundaries, and one person in a dozen wants to be an exception, I see no problems.

it sounds to me like people weren't reading the description of demons very carefully. They were constructed in such a way that if Amber wanted to port Lu over, she could. Basically a demon can look pretty much however it wants. So a "mermaid" could just as easily be a demon wih fish traits or something.
It covers a ton of different possibilities, all while still falling in the guidelines of that one race. Is fun, no?

Suggestion:
For gifted, allow them to chose the order of their 2nd and 3rd rewards.
To explain. They can choose to take a new power at 250 and an upgrade at 1000, or an upgrade at 250 and a new power at 1000 as it is now.
I know I for one would prefer it, and it doesn't seem like a big thing.

Suggestions for Gifts:
Controlled Magnetism - ability to become magnetic at will, could be used to shape metals if powerful enough Forcefield Generation - self-explananatory? Crystallization - ability to make one's skin harden to near invulnerability, could possibly be used offensively as well
thattt's all I've got for now
