Garion stood in one of the many rooms of the Training Centre. The room was designed especially with Telekenetics in mind, but was empty at the moment. There was a (bulletproof) glass wall behind him, with a door situated into it, and curious passerby wondered what such a small boy could be doing in the debris filled room, with targets and dummies placed at random throughout.
Garion reached out a hand, reaching for an object. A rock wiggled slightly, and rose. With a flick of his hand, the rock sailed over to one of the dummies, and missed by a fraction. After two more similar tries, the rock finally connected, and the damage meter at the bottom of the dummy flashed.
6
On a scale of 0 (Harmless) to 100 (Lethal), the number wasn't very high. Garion tried something else. He reched out, grabbed two rockes, and threw.
14
The throw was more tiring than the last, but it was only natural, but picking up three rocks was hardly tiring, even for a nine year old so he focused and up went 1, 2, 4, 7, 10 rocks. Garion struggled to keep the rocks there, keeping them low to the ground so gravity didn't work against him.

With all the strength he could muster, Garion pushed all of the rocks really heard, keeping them straigh as if shooting out of a gun, then abruptly cut off his hold. The momentum of the rocks took them the rest of the way.
100
Garion was absolutley drained. He let himself fall to the floor, and took deep breaths, allowing himself to rest. Garion's strength slowly returned, bit by bit, as long as he kept lying there.

A curious passerby was, in fact, watching from the doorway. In this case, however, he wasn't so much interested in what the boy was doing, so much as how well he did it. Jared wasn't disappointed, either. He had only been at the Academy a little while-basically long enough to find his dorm and get to the training room, among a bit of wandering-and he had decided to get used to the school. The Training area had caught his eye, so he had looked in, just in time to see the young boy start throwing rocks around. He wasn't too bad at it, either, and persistent. After the boy sat down in exhaustion, though, he decided to take a turn. Putting two fingers against his temple-a habit of his that seemed to help him concentrate-Jared focused on a rock nearest to him. Flicking his fingers in the desired direction, he lifted the rock above a dummy's "head" and, putting as much force as possible behind it, slammed it on top of his target. 73. Not a bad first shot, Jared thought with a grin.
((Okay with you?))

Garion was absolutely exhausted, but he looked up to the newcomer. He was older than Garion, as was everyone else. He also must've been very physically fit, to use that much force with just one rock.
"That... was... pretty... good." He layed there until his strength returned enough for him to stand up. His forehead was slick with sweat, and he wiped himself off with his shirt, and cracked his knuckles. "I'm Garion.... Edengrowth.... Telekenetic. You?"

Now, isn't that ironic? was Jared's first surprised thought. The first person he meets, and it's someone from the same house with the same gift. What a world. Though also feeling a bit awkward at the other boy's openness, Jared smiled in an attempt to hide this-with a sub-par result-and replied, "Jared, Edengrowth, Telekinetic. Nice to meet you, Garion." He wasn't used to anyone being that friendly; Mr. Moto had been, yes, but he was an exception in every way possible, so he had taken it for granted. Maybe this place isn't going to be so bad after all...

Garion was silent, as the newcomer didn't give him much to say. He stared at him for a while, and then assuming he would say nothing else, returned to training. This time he focused on aiming pebbles at specific spots in the body, trying to cause maximum damage, with minimum efforet.

After a momentary awkward silence, Jared decided to train a bit as well. Focusing himself again, he got ready to pick up another rock, when an idea struck him. Grinning slightly-it was pretty close to the out-of-the-box thinking Mr. Moto was prone to- he lifted up the dummy, turned it on its head, and slammed it into the ground instead. 51. Not as good, and it took more energy. Plus, a heavier human opponent would take even more energy than that, so it didn't look like a good tactic. Lobbing rocks looked like the better plan.

Garion looked over at what Jared was doing.
"Hey, that's a pretty good idea! Wait... hmm... would this work?"
Garion Combined a whole bunch of little pebbles into some sort of spike formation. "Quickly... slam it down."

Surprised, Jared did as he was told, slamming the formation of rocks into the top of a dummy. 94. Clearly, a rapid-fire attack could make a difference, as well as where you hit. "Nice one," Jared told the boy, smiling.

"Thanks...." Garion was breathing hard.
"I think I'm going to go sit out for a while, and just watch. I'm a little tired" In fact, Garion was a lotta tired. He went over and sat on a bench.

Jared nodded in response, and said, "Okay then." Not much for conversation, but Garion obviously wasn't up to much talking right now. As much as he had been doing himself, Jared was hardly tired at all; then again, he seemed to be a bit older than Garion, and he had built up a lot of stamina over the years. The kid was smart, though, figuring out that plan. Maybe he could test it out in other ways... Several tests later, Jared gave a wry smile in Garion's direction. "Looks like you're a bit better at this than me." Probably true; not one of Jared's ideas went about 60. The kid was good.
