This had been a very bad morning so far.
It had started with the simple annoyances of life, he'd woken up, and got out of bed. Or rather, tried to. He found himself tangled in his sheets, and wound up falling flat on his face. After a few moments he managed to untangle himself and move on to the next room, where he was greeted with such a strong shock from the metal handle that it slightly burned his skin. It was just the icing on the cake that he couldn't seem to get his hair to sit flat today either, he even tried wetting it, but it just stuck back up.
So he sat in the training area growling to himself, trying to convince himself that he was paying any attention to what he was reading. In truth he was just exceptionally frustrated.
A bad morning had a bad way of ruining your entire day.

Zeth walked into the training room with his bag over his shoulder and sighed. He had joined the academy not long ago, and he already found some of it boring.....well, except for the powers every student had, which was interesting.
Zeth looked around the room and saw another student sitting down. He had seen him before, due to both of them being in the same House. A senpai, if he was still in Japan. Zeth set his bag on the ground and unzipped it, ignoring the other student. He often kept to himself unless he was approched first, as it always had been. Zeth pulled out a bottled water and openned it. He stood there for a couple seconds wondering if he should work with his powers or take a drink. He shrugged and set himself on the ground, still staring at the water. Zeth intensified his focus and the water started to convert into ice, then from ice to water, then water to vapor. Zeth heard footsteps from outside the training hall and lost his focus, turning both the bottle, and the vapor, into liquids. Silently cursing, Zeth thought to himself, Oh dear, irony....

The steps also disturbed Locke's concentration, but the reaction was very different. He was so deep in his frustration that the solid sound of a foot rapping on the ground made him jump, and the very air itself seemed energized. Growling Locke went to thumb through his book again, finding that the pages were sticking to his fingers. Why today? Why did every little headache seem to be happening today?
Snarling he grew too frustrated and threw the books aside with a growl, and went to stand up. However, his coat stuck to the ground for barely a moment, upsetting his balance and sending him back to the ground. Locke yanked it rather forcefully and freed himself from whatever it was that had impeded him.
"I should have just stayed in bed." He muttered. And then something odd hit his nose, the acrid scent of burnt plastic. What the...why was plastic of all things burning? He turned to try and find the source of the scent, but to no avail, the room looked completely normal. He paid no mind to the man who seemed to be staring at a puddle, people with weird gifts were here all the time.
Still annoyed, Locke made to leave.

Zeth looked over at the other student as he struggled with his book and coat, and coughed to hide a laugh. Static electricity could be so amusing sometimes. Zeth grinned and looked back at the puddle of plastic and water. Having no patience to deal with it at the moment, he touched the puddle with his finger and it all turned into gas. Quickly moving his hand so not to breath in the air, Zeth turned the plastic fumes into a liquid once in the air, and then changed it to a solid as he caught it in his right hand.
Finally taking a breath Zeth looked back at the other student who looked as though as he was going to leave, and got an idea. All the Edengrowth students were very knowledgable, but, other than himself, he didn't know any of the combat abilities of the other house members. Zeth usually didn't start conversations, but, never the less, with his curiousity perked, he stood up and called over to the other student, "Hey, how are you at combat?"

Locke was storming towards the door when he heard another student call to him.
"What?!" He snapped angrily. "I'm not, only idiots with no better way to express themselves then over other people fight, did that answer your question?" Yes it was rude, but he was beyond caring right now.
"Why, looking for someone to pick a random fight with? Find an Almasy or a Caven, I can't be bothered with that foolishness now!"
(This sucks but I was mentally blocked on this one.)

(Meh, I'm not that used to rping in paragraphs, so I feel your pain...)
Zeth was taken aback for a second. It was true he shouldn't of just shouted the request out, but this guy was really upset. Must of woken up on the wrong side of the bed.....or at least thats how I think the saying goes... Zeth sighed and leanned on the wall, before saying calmly, "I know the Almasy and Caven houses have people like that, but I want to see if the members of our house, House Edengrowth, have any fighting abilities."
Zeth looked at the disgruntled house member, wondering what his response was going to be. Probebly something about it being impossible for me to be a Edengrowth..... Zeth couldn't help feeling a bit amused at this.

Locke eyed the boy with an arched eyebrow. "Of our house? Are you kidding me?" He was still speaking with a good deal of contempt. "You really have nothing better to do, nothing to learn, then to start practicing how to be a fighter?"
He sighed. "No, I don't fight, I can't fight, I don't learn how to fight. Does that answer your question house-mate?" He said, still keeping the anger.
"Besides, I have much more important thin-" As he was saying this his moving foot stepped in what was left of the water the other student had vaporized, and he jumped back.
That was an odd feeling, he felt like he just got electrocuted. Even though there were no visible effects.
"You...what did you do?" Locke asked accusingly, narrowing his eyes at the student.

Zeth restrained another chuckle. It seemed he missed a spot of water to turn into a gas. For once, one of his own slip ups was very amusing. Zeth started acting serious again, and gathered his focus on the equation of evaporating water, and the water at Locke's feet evaporated instantly, still leaving a tad of static electicity in the air.
"I suspect you have a power of energy manipulation," explained Zeth as he crossed his arms. "Your power is probebly unstable due to your anger, and it created a static field, such as what happenned with your coat and books when you were sitting down, and the shock you got from stepping in that water."
Zeth threw the plastic ball up and caught it as it fell to amuse himself. "To answer your earlier question, I learned to fight years ago, with some, how should I put it, unfavorable people." Zeth walked over to his bag and dropped the plastic into it. "Also," Zeth started to explain, "Learning to defend yourself could come in handy when your gift becomes uneffective."

Locke was still pissed, and not at all rational. "I don't have the ability to Manipulate Energy!" he practically spat out. "I know my gift, and people don't develop their second gift until-" He stopped for a moment, blinking. His face went completely blank. He finished the thought in his head.
For most people, a second gift does not develop until their teenage years, usually during puberty...
And here Locke was, nearly 14 years old. And the more he thought about it, the more it made sense. The sheets and the clothing, the metal handles, the puddle of water...it all added up.
"Iron." He said out loud, seeming rather mad. He looked around and spied some of the weapons used for practice training, he grabbed a spear and returned to where he had been standing. He knew he was too short, and far too weak to thrust it, or get the required leverage.
"Hey, I didn't get your name, but you know how to fight. Can you stab this into the ground? And leave it there? I need to test something."

Zeth stood grinning as the other student pondered on his abilities. It seemed he had only just discovered his ability to manipulate energy, so his first ability must be something else.
Zeth suddenly jumped a bit at the word 'Iron,' then watched him get a spear from the weapons arsenal, and then ask him his name and to stab the spear into the ground.
"The name is Zeth," He responded, "and sure just hand over the spear...."
Zeth took the spear from the other student, took a couple steps, whirled it in the air for a few seconds, then finally stabbed into the floor. Backing away from the spear, Zeth nodded to the other student to let him test his power, if Zeth's predictions were correct.

Locke was a little timid when he looked over at the spear in the ground. This should work, if this boy, Zeth, was right it should work. Walking towards it he extended a hand towards the spear, and wrapped it around the handle, gripping it tightly.
He felt the change immediate. His hair stopped sticking up, his coat wasn't sticking to itself, and his muscles seemed to relax. He felt a lot less tense. He grinned, still holding onto the spear.
"Grounded now, so it gives me time to figure out how to control it." He explained. He then figured he at least owed the student his name.
"I'm Locke, Locke Herald. Thanks for your help, Zeth was it?" He extended his free hand towards the boy. "It probably won't shock you this time, at least I hope not if my hypothesis is correct..."

Zeth grinned as the other student's plan seemed to work. He inclined his head for a second, then looked back up as the student said his name.
Zeth kept his grin and took Locke's hand, thankfully not shocking him, though he hoped he didn't try shocking him on purpose like with a joybuzzer. "Nice to offically meet you Locke," said Zeth, taking his hand away calmly. Didn't want to give him the chance, though he probebly over thought it.
"So, how long have you been stuck in the Academy?" Zeth asked politely. He didn't want to have any trouble with anyone here, especally someone who could control lightning.

"The same." Locke replied, glad that he didn't shock the boy. He could worry about training this new gift later, now he'd at least engage who he owed a small debt to.
"Stuck? Well it might not be a choice for you, but I elected to come here. After all, I can't really go far in the outside world. But this is my first year enrolled here. And what about you?"
Had it really only been a few months? With all that had happened it felt like much longer, but he hadn't been here that long at all. What would it be like after a year or two? What would he be like? What would his friends be like in a few years?
"Time seems to be passing slowly, seems like I've been here for years."

Zeth shrugged, not really bothered by how he said it. He talked like that sometimes, though it never really bothered him or his family....except maybe his uncle.
"Well, I've been here for only a couple weeks.....And I'm getting used to seeing people with different powers....Though realizing just what existed in this world really surprised me..." Zeth scratched his neck as he said it. Really seeing all the different beings other than humans surprised him. Dragons, Fae, Demons....What was next?

"A little new to this world eh?" Locke said, keeping his grip on the metal, trying to figure out in his head just how to isolate the electric current flowing through him.
"I suppose that is understandable. It's a lot of information to absorb all at once, that's for sure. You have your gifted and your other races and all sorts of weird things. And then you have to go to class on top of all that, and it's like a normal junior high school with all the drama and such."
He sighed.
"Sometimes it seems like more trouble then it's worth, eh?"
