Sometimes, things work out in your favor. Sometimes not. C'est La Vie. Must be Karma? No, that can't be right. Bad Karma comes from defying your caste in a past life.
A pen was furiously scratching at a pad of paper. The girl was lost in her own little world, sitting by her lonesome at a table. Perhaps the only way to get the awkward girl out of the trance of furiously writing was to either take the pen or paper away. Or probably throw something at her. Even then Ava would continue her quest to finish writing like a stubborn donkey that was determined to bring the load up the hill even if it was too heavy.
Everyone talks about happy endings. Like Fairy tales and happily ever after, those people aren't afraid. They know their lives will end up that way. Happy.
Well I'm not afraid of happy endings, I'm just afraid that my life won't end up that way
Her pen hadn't moved from the tail of the 'Y' and her grip was so tight that her knuckles had turned white. It was like the whole time she was writing, she was holding her breath. Ava felt as if taking the pen away from the paper would force her back into reality. Back into socializing with people.
Ava was perhaps still reeling from her run in with Nate, where he seemed to turn on her like a wild animal. Though the experience could be considered good for her, Ava had always chosen to see the good in people, and interacting with Nate seemed to be as enjoyable as a root canal. Upon coming to the realization, Ava flipped to another page filled with doodles and random quotes she began to write again.
There are good people, and there are bad people. tots open btw....

(ooc. I hope it's okay I jump this. ^.^)
Some rather mean boys were chasing him through the large room for the fourth time that week. They either loved running or they had a special kind of hate boy him. Rin had finally run long enough for them to get bored when he tripped over his own feet bumping the chair legs of the girl and her journal.
"Ow." He had to be the most unlucky person in the school. Rubbing his head he shifted to sit on the hard floor glancing frantically around for the bullies. He spotted them at the other side of the antechamber laughing and pointing at him. Great they didn't even need to help humilate him.
Finally noticing he'd bumped into a girl's chair his eyes widened and he scrambled to his feet. Rin shifted his black, shoulder bag his hand resting on the picture of a popular anime character.
"Um, hi, sorry. I didn't mean to bump your chair like that. Tripped over my own feet." He laughed a bit rubbing the back of his head awkwardly. Girls always made him act weird, and feel extremely uncomfortable. His eyes flicked to the notebook knowing how he felt when people interrupted his writing time.
"Really, um, sorry." Not knowing if he should just walk away or not he stood awkwardly playing with his brightly color shirt sleeve.

tots, go right ahead ;D
Ava was so surprised by the sudden bump by Rin, that she jumped herself. Her arms flailed rather ungracefully and her journal came flying off the table, page falling to the one she was previously writting on. The one about happy endings. Her eyes widened slightly as she stared at the fallen book.
Stared until the figure popped up and began talking to her. Her eyes snapped up to his lips and she tried to read them, but it was a little hard considering he was talking too fast. A confused look spread across her face as she ventured to guess that he was apologizing for bumping into her chair.
"It's ok" she said, tone monotonous as she watched the boy with curiousity. He was so brightly coloured Ava couldn't take her eyes away.

She was just staring, why was she staring? His eyes flicked to the open, fallen notebook but he didn't read what was written. That would be invading her privacy, and being too nosy even for his tastes. Feeling bad for startling her he picked up the book and held it out for her.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you either." This was awkward he was given two words, and she just kept staring at him. Rin looked down at his multicolored koi shirt, and tight black jeans wondering what she was staring at. Rolling his eyes up from the shirt he gave a half grin.
"Um, 'scuse me Miss, but what are you staring at? Do I have something on my face?" He didn't remember having any scratches there recently, and he didn't think he'd gotten that hurt falling down. His hands went to his cheek trailing over the baby doll like skin trying to find anything to be stared at. Maybe something was in his hair? Rin ran his hands through his dark violet hair not finding any trash or gum stuck it in. What was she staring at?

Ava blushed slightly when she realized that she was staring, AND that he pointed it out. She humbly took the book from him, averting her eyes as she did so. It was just so interesting to find someone so colorful.
"Thanks" she mumbled as she took the book and slammed it shut, "Sorry for staring" she apologized profusely, turning a deeper shade of read before the boy. Of course she wasn't going to say why she was staring, then he would just think that she was weird.
"There's nothing on your face" Ava said, eyes still averted as Rin just stood in front of her, of course this wasn't going to go anywhere if he started talking again and she didn't see it.

When she blushed his throat closed up and he felt incrediably dizzy. Girls. He really disliked girls. It was like they wre some giant annomolly to him. Why was she blushing? Why had she stared? Boy were so much more straight forward.
"You're welcome." This was beyond awkward, and though he was trying to be friendly it didn't seem to be working. "It's alright. I was just worried that when I fell I got something on me."
Again she was blushing, and this time he blushed because she was blushing. He tugged on his bag not knowing really what to do or say in this situation other than to just walk away.
"Oh," he relaxed a bit, "Good. You had me worried there."
And that's where his brilliant conversation skills ended. Oh, wait he just thought of a nice friendly question he could ask her. "Um, what were you writing? You seemed pretty involved with it."
Rin gave a small smile his eyes causually glancing at the notebook in her hand. "Just curious is all, if it's personal I understand."
Not a big talker was she, but not everyone in the world is.

((if i could successfully kick my own ass physically for leaving you hanging for this long, I would.))
What were...writing? Just curi-...all
"Oh, uhm" she started after reading his lips. She scratched the back of her head and ran her fingers through her hair.
"Thoughts...bouncing around, you know, up here" she said, looking back at him with an awkward smile. Ava had indicated to her head after the broken and awkward sentence she had just muttered. Then, as if she was completely oblivious, she remembered that he was being chased.
"Are you ok?" she asked after a pregnant pause. She, like Jin, was never the brilliant conversationalist.

((it's okay...people aren't happy with me for leaving them either...))
"Thoughts? Up there? You sure they weren't coming from somewhere else? I mean sometimes I feel like my thoughts are coming from another world." He said this in all seriousness because he was telling the truth. Sometimes he had no idea where his thoughts or ideas were coming form. "Or they come from here."
Pointing at his chest he grinned trying to make it more comfortable to talk to her and for her to talk to him. It wasn't working on his end.
"Okay?" Genuinely confused he frowned not knowing why she asked that. "Because I fell? I might have a bruise but it'll be fine in no time."
Rocking on his heels he figured that was what she was worried about. Not the fact that those boys had been chasing him. That happened on a day to day basis. Falling did too but not everyone falls all the time.

Ava let out an awkward but cutesy giggle as she put together the parts of his sentence. It was true, thoughts were fickle things and for the most part Ava only had control over the thoughts that came from her head, although what he said had some truth. Thoughts and feelings came from the heart area as well.
When she saw Rin's frown after she had asked if he was ok, she frowned as well, feeling as she had almost said something wrong or offended him for asking.
"I fall a lot too" she admitted sheepishly as she scratched the back of her neck, still looking up at the bright boy, but never actually making eye contact with him.

When she giggled he jumped, literally jumped. Blinking with eyes wide he gave a shakey smile. Wow, that was embarassing. The girl was just so quiet and it wasn't like she had burst out laughing or something.
"Heh, yeah. Course I only tend to write poetry." Rin fiddled with his bag eyes darting to her notebook. "Do you just write whatever comes to mind? Or does it have a form?"
Afraid that he was being too nosey his eyes wandered to the boys at the other side of the room. He had a feeling that as soon as he was done talking to the sweet girl before him they'd attack like hyenas.
"I'm extremely ungraceful, and full of horrid luck." Attention back to her. She really was a sweet girl, but he was not good at talking to the opposite sex no matter how sweet they were.

Poetry
Poetry always caught Ava's eye. She loved the heart of a poet and thought it was the most sincere, real, misunderstood thing in the entire world. There was also the part that Ava did fancy herself as an unconventional type of poet.
Do you write...comes to mind? Or does..have form?
Ava just shrugged in a polite manner. She couldn't exactly figure out what to place her 'Ramblings of an Autistic mind' as. Nor was she particularly confident that anyone could actually understand what was scribbled or written in large colourful loopy letters in her book, but it was an insider look at someone else's beautiful mind.
"Both, I guess" she said awkwardly as her eyes traveled down to where her book lay on the table , for a moment it seemed like it was just her and her book. Then she snapped out of her trance as she heard the muffled sound of the boy starting to speak again.
"Luck is a fickle mistress" she said with an absentminded tone in her voice. Ava never had the best luck, nor did she actually care. The girl just went about her life, taking and giving whatever was handed to her. Her views of herself were just fine, she was the awkward wallflower that never actually got noticed, and that was perfectly fine with her.

Feeling awkward just standing there his eyes flicked to a seat near the girl. Not right next to her because not only could he not take being that close, but he figured she wouldn't be too comfortable with it either.
He wanted to stay and talk for very selfish reasons. The longer he talked the least likely those boys would stick around to bother him. So he waved at the chair and smiled weakly.
"May I sit?" His other hand clenched his bag with nerves. Rin usually didn't willingly chose to hang around girls, but this one didn't seem too bad. Though talking to her was hard and getting her to talk back was even harder.
"Both? Heh, my pen usually doesn't move unless I have some idea. A beginning middle and end that is." Rin answered sitting now even if she ended up saying no. If she wanted she could leave but he couldn't. Not and be safe that is. Random glances told him the boys lay in wait.
"Fickle, that's for sure. Wish she'd give me a break every once in a while." He chewed on the inside of his cheek when a thought came to him. "Oh, how rude of me! My name's Rin by the way."
His face showed embarassment and apologies. How could he forget to introduce himself? Nerves, phobia towards girls, previously being chased? Pick one.

When Rin asked if he could sit, Ava flushed red out of embarrassment that she didn't offer the seat up sooner.
"Yes, please do" she said, sliding over to make some room. She felt a little silly and kind of bad that she wasn't talking to the boy who was being kind to her. Though it wasn't his fault at all, she just hated the sound of her voice. It was then she decided to write some more after she introduced herself.
"Ava" she said with an awkward smile towards him. She turned her attention back to her book and opened it to a blank page. She began writing and for a moment it was almost like she was ignoring him. When she was done, she slid the book over to him.
I don't like the sound of my own voice, so I prefer to write to communicate. I hope you don't mind? :)

(ooc. Gah! I am sooo sorry...) He clenched the strap of his shoulder bag as he sat there with her. She was rather nice, for a girl. Though it was hard to get her to talk he kind of liked it. Most girl felt the need to fill every single second with words, it was nice to meet one who was different.
As she spoke her name he pressed a weak smile at her. "That's a pretty name. Like the name given to birds." Frowning as she turned away he too turned away. His cheeks burned a bit in embarassment for she obviously didn't want to be near him. Stupid bullies if they weren't around he wouldn't be bothering the poor, quiet girl.
Then a notebook was suddenly in front of him with words written across the page. Blinking he frowned looking to her mouth open to talk then with a stronger smile stopped. Instead he dug into his bag and brought out a bright purple pen.
Yeah, this is fine. There is nothing wrong with you voice by the way. Very sweet.... Thank you for talking to me. Rin scooted the notebook back over to her his hands visibly shaking. Once it was back in front of her he tucked his hands into his lap shamed by the trembling. Stupid phobia.

...Pretty name, like...given to birds
Ava smiled when she read his lips and tucked a piece of hair behind her ears. She had always heard it was a pretty name, but no one had ever compared it to the birds. She had then placed a delicate hand over her book bringing it back to where she could comfortably read and write back to him.
You are too kind...You are welcome, you looked like you could use someone to talk to. Not a lot of people talk to me either, sometimes it's lonely on the wall...
