After resting only a short time at the Cave, Kennedy, Angela, "Michael," and the burnt body of Leo moved on to southern Illinois. They'd had to do some tricky flying in order to get there, with several stops along the way. Eventually though, the quartet landed just outside of town, where they started walking in. It didn't take long before someone driving by recognized Kennedy Cavan, and they were quite distraught over the burned boy. Kennedy managed to just talk them out of it, and soon the group was on their way...
Kennedy stood in front of his brother's house, pretending that he wasn't intimidated. It amazed him that with all he'd managed to face down, he still quailed at the idea of having to approach Desmond. Holly would be even worse, so Kennedy tried very hard not to even think about that.
"Desmond's the big guy, and he's a bit dense," offered Kennedy to whomever bothered to listen. "Holly's the brains of the operation, and she's also the one who's most likely to let us stay. If need be, we'll mention Morgan, and that will get Desmond..."
Kennedy looked over to his fiancè, "We'll have to tell them about the engagement too.... might want to hold off on the baby though... and make sure Holly knows about it first..."

Leo, always the master of perfect timing, had picked just then to drift back to consciousness to here Kennedy talking.
"Ugh..." It didn't hurt, which he knew was bad because it should. He'd been around the block enough to know what this meant. What a crappy way to go out, killed with a kiss. Well killed with a bomb of sunlight, but that's just semantics. "W-Where the hell is this?" He tried to look, and saw only open fields and a large house. Looked like bumble fuck Nebraska or something.
He had so many snide and sarcastic comments he wanted to make, but he figured he should conserve his strength.
After all, it wasn't every day that you knew you were dying.

"...Okay..." Angela murmured in reply to Kennedy, extremely distracted by the house. It was beautiful. Angela wanted a house just like it.
Then Leo was speaking, and Angela winced. She would wince every time she looked at him. If it had been her who had been fried, she probably would have died already. This boy was strong, but she didn't understand what was keeping him here. She wasn't sure whether to admire him, fear him, or pity him, so as of right now it was a combination of all three.
"Y-you're in Illinois now. We're getting you help," Angela said softly, then looked up at Kennedy, "...right?"
Leo should be their top priority. If he'd lasted this long, there was a reason he was still alive, and they should be doing everything in their power to help him.

Honestly, Kennedy hadn't figured out how exactly they were going to deal with Leo. If Eoin was around, they could use his power. Actually, Kennedy could work with his father and attempt to restore Leo.
But could a healing Gift even deal with that?
"It's Cairo," offered Kennedy, not looking at either his fiancè or the charcoal man, "and this is my brother's house... well, Holly, that's his wife, is more in charge..."
Kennedy took a few steps toward the house, "and she's the one we'd better hope is home right now."
Kennedy shifted Leo in his arms, and headed for the house. He barely got within a dozen steps when a beautiful blonde woman burst out.
"Kennedy!" she exclaimed, smiling. It faded as she saw the burned body, "What the-- bring him inside, quick. We can put him on the kitchen counter..."
Holly turned, opening the door and letting Kennedy in; she also waved Michael and Angela in, not moving until everyone was safe inside. "Go for the kitchen, it should be clean right now."
Kennedy headed exactly where Holly had told him too, hoping he didn't jostle Leo that much.
"And you..." Holly rounded on Angela, smiling weakly, "you must be Angela. Hi, I'm Holly," she turned, then, yelling up the stairs, "it's your uncle Kennedy and his girlfriend."
Holly turned back to Angela. "We've got to deal with that poor..." she turned to the kitchen, "person, first. But you and I really need to talk," she turned to Angela, grinning. Then she pointed up the stairs, "If you want, the kids are up there. I'm sure they'd love to meet you.
"Kennedy!" Holly yelled, heading for the kitchen. "You have some explaining to do!"
