Ava was cold, Not just normal 'cold' where you could just put on a sweater and be fine. No, the poor girl was like ice, she was freezing. She managed to maneuver herself through the busy hallways, a book clutched to her chest in a death like grip. Her long wavy hair bounced off her shoulders with every step she took and frantic green eyes looked so she could dodge obstacles.
Occasionally she would bump into someone and get the odd 'Watch where you're going' in which she would respond with a meek 'Sorry'. She finally came to a seemingly deserted hallway with windows. Teeth chattering as she stood; she gaged that the third or fourth window sill would be the best in which to park her behind on and get the maximum amount of sunlight so she could stop shivering and warm up. If she didn't know any better she would have thought that today she was some sort of cold-blooded reptile.
Setting off she climbed up onto the thick window sill, which was a feat for her, considering she was really short. So here Ava sat in the sunlight, giving her body a chance to warm up, the golden light giving her an almost ethereal look as she cracked open her book. Her pointer finger traced along the aged pages as she searched to find her spot.
Now, this was pretty much solace for Ava. She could be happy here for the rest of the afternoon.

Harry was having a stellar day. An honest-to-God girl other than Ava, had spoken to him. It had been just to return the pen he had forgotten but then she had smiled at him, and had struck up conversation; he was ecstatic. He hadn't had a real girl speak to him in a few years, he had completely forgotten about the butterflies that normally accompanied such experiences. Though socially retarded, pretty much, he did know that it wasn't allowed to skip down the corridors. Instead, his gait was happy, dangerously close to chipper, and there was a secret smile at the corner of his lips. With his ridiculous height and the sparse number of students littering that particular hallway, he spotted Ava almost immediately.
"Ava!" he called, waving very enthusiastically at his only friend. He ignored just how pitiful that sounded, and continued at a much faster pace toward her.
"Ava," he said again, just shy of gushing, "you wont believe what just happened to me!" Typically, as he had seemed to develop lately, his question didn't come out as a question. He seemed to be rather fond of using exclamation marks, and so every second punctuation was turned into one.
"I think I made another friend! Isn't that great! It's fantastic! It's fantabulous! I could sing! Am I interrupting anything! Oh, I mean, am I interrupting anything?"

At first Ava didn't hear Harry yelling her name, it wasn't until he actually came up beside her that she noticed him. Here eyes non-chalantly went to his lips as he began gushing to her about what happened. There was an odd feeling in her stomach as she looked at him from her perch, it almost felt as if there was a knot in her stomach, but she smiled anyways to hide the face that he made her feel weird.
Am I interrupting anything?
She nodded her head no and snapped her book shut as he asked. The smile was still on her face as she looked at him. Though after him telling her about him making another friend there was another small feeling of something...was it jealousy? No, that couldn't have been it. Ava puched the feeling aside as she turned to face Harry, legs hanging off the windowsill.
"No" she said simply looking up at him "I was trying to warm up" she admitted sheepishly.
