Why on Earth had she come here? Ali groaned as she crossed the street. Sometimes, her feet carried her to places she didn't want to go near, and downtown St. louis was exactly one of those places. Plus, she was bored. bored to tears - or where those form all the smoke?
Smoke. She snorted. a dragon was complaining abotu smoke. That was just silly. Her boredom and the mindless thought of her dragon self gave ehr an idea to quench her boredom. Why couldn't she set fire to a building? twilihgt nyudged her ankle. Why could cats read your mind? They always knew when you were up to trouble. So Ali had to lie lower than setting one fot eh skyscrapers on fire...
How about an explosion from one of the parked cars? no, that was almost worse. And by now she was so careless she was running into people. Good lord help us, she thought ironically. There was no lord.
And no end to her boredom.

Tis the season to be merry. Christmas is just a few weeks away now and there was a lot of hustle and bustle in the streets of St. Louis. Pine trees were being decorated in public parks as many watched in amazement of the very thought of the sight of what this simple pine tree would become. It would be "knighted" a Christmas tree, it would symbolize light in the darkness the city was enshrouded in, literally and figuratively. It was just after sunset, and Vincent decided to go for a stroll in the night. He didn't need blood that day, he has had his fill just yesterday. He's going to walk out into the night, but amongst people again. He doesn't want to feel like a predator-an abomination to mankind, now he can feel a little more like a regular human.
Vincent stepped out of his home, flipped his hood over his head, slid his shades on and took a long walk, about a mile down the sidewalk. Even though he wasn't going out for blood, and it was night so he needed no covering, he still found it necessary to wear the cloak. It would hide his identity, his father was assassinated after all. If any problems do come up out there, under his disguise he would not have to hold back on his new found strength and speed either. Vincent however did not relax as he thought he would. He was stuck between two worlds. One of guilt of the things that he did in order to stay alive, and the other finding good reason for the things that he did and insisting that he focus on reality. Vincent continued to walk until suddenly a crowd of bustling people could be heard nearby. He turned the next corner to find the reason for the noise. He had already heard of the lighting of the Christmas trees down at the park, that usually attracts a lot of people to come for a short visit. But there were a lot of shops nearby as well, a lot of people were doing early Christmas shopping perhaps. It wasn't important anyhow, not to Vincent. Christmas doesn't really exist for him anymore. He has no family or even real friends he would like to share it with.
He just wanted to work his way through the crowd of people to continue on his way. So he moved as carefully and quickly as possible through the moving crowd. Squinting to find space between everyone so that he could continue forward. Looking up ahead though, he noticed some people being rudely jerked to the side. As if someone was walking through the crowd unflinching. Vincent didn't pay mind though. There was always some dick in a big crowd thinking they have more important places to be than everyone else. Vincent continued moving through the crowd for a while, oblivious of the oncoming character.

Ali was extremely surprised when she ran headfirst into someone. She backed up, mumbling an apolgoy. Only when she looked up and inahled di she realize who, err, what, the person was. Twilight hissed at her heel, and she immediately bent to pick up the cat. Vampires. Why did animals dislike them so much?
She rolled her eyes as she scratched Twilight behidn the ears. The cat was still unhappy. Weird, she thought, usually scratching behidn the ears makes her oblivious to the world. Was there seomthign wrong with the vampire?
He looked healthy, not at all thirsty. Maybe a little arrogant, but not necessarily mean. And Ali was strong enough to protect herself. Why was Twilihgt on edge like this? Was it just animal instinct that she didn't like vampires? Or did it have to do with something else? Ali justs tared at the vampire, completely lost.

Vincent continued moving through the crowd and then-"BAMMM!"
A young lady ran into him head on. Vincent expected to stumble back, but he just rocked a bit and the shades on his face slid off a bit. A hand quickly moved to adjust them back in place. Then he turned to look upon the face of the clumsy oaf who bucked into him.
"Watch where you are going." He said calmly in a disguised voice. The cat in her arms was hissing all the while. He squinted at it through the tint of his shades...something was a bit awkward about it. This girl was weird too, she was apparently the one walking through the crowd inconsiderately bumping people to the side...And she had a cat with her. Who brings their cat through a crowd of people at this hour?
Vincent then noticed that the girl was staring at him with a blank expression. He waited a few seconds for her to apologize or something. But no, nothing came out of her mouth.
"May I help you?" Vincent asked sharply as people started to squeeze their way pass the drama in the middle of the bustling crowd.

"Watch where you are going." The vampire said calmly. The voice didn't fit him. The voice box and vocal chords would be different, vibrating slightly differently. Either he was faking or.... yup, he was faking. No doubt about it.
"Why don't you?" Ali snapped back, her gaze becoming a glare in an instant. Twilight growled as well, showing fangs. She could feel the scales building on the back of her neck, instinctive self-preservation. Her black hair was thankfully down tonight, and hanging half-way down her thighs. It almost reached to her knees, for Pete's sake. Goddess, she'd have to get a haircut soon.
Ali's head snapped up when he spoke again, sharply this time and in a more fitting tone, "May I help you?" SO she hand't apologized. So what?
"I'd like to talk to you, if you don't mind," She glanced around, watching people push past them momentarily. She redirected her glare to the vampire and added thoughtfully, "Somewhere where we are not in danger of being overheard." She leaned in closely and whispered sternly, "Okay, my leechy friend?"

"I'd like to talk to you, if you don't mind, Ok my leechy friend?"
The words caught Vincents attention quickly. How the Frank did she know he was a vampire, and what is the deal with her cat? Is she a witch? She certainly had what Vincent thought was the look. And that ridiculously long hair didn't help the thought.
But still, what would she want with Vincent? Does she know his real identity and is attempting to blackmail him or something like that...could she? No that was impossible, she doesn't look like she is from around here at all anyways. Was she a Vampire too? If so Vincent wanted nothing to do with her, he was upset enough that he had to feast as they did to survive. What if she had a gift to read minds or something and was hunting him down! What ever it is she is up to Vincent knew she definitely was not normal and it probably wouldn't lead to anything good. So he decided to take precaution, extreme precaution. Without saying more he slowly walked away easing his way through the crowd as if he were leading her to a spot they could talk.
Then suddenly with a swish of his right foot he spun in a circle tripping and disorienting nearby civilians who then fell and brought others near them to the ground. Then tugging the hood tightly around his face with one hand he darted onward with immense speed through the crowd as chaos spawned at the site, pushing everyone to the ground he could with his free hand.

Damn him all the way to hell and back, she thought as he ran. The running helped her determine some things. For instance, the tailored suit suggested her was a business. The fact that he was running suggested he was rich and thought she was trying to blackmail him. The ideas also helped her keep her mind off her bruning lungs as she ran.
Damn him again, she added. She could transform. there were too many people. She'd been neck-deep in trouble if they saw her flying. but since when did Ali care whether she was in trouble?
There was a first time for everything. She disliked authority, but she liked the fact that she had a job. A home. Money.
Good thing she ran regularly. Kids who had magic and didn't like a girl chasing after them to bring them to a boarding school tended to run. In this case, she had had enough practice and was fats enough to keep him in sight.
Luck also seemed on her side when he turned onto a street only half as crowded. With a quick burst of speed and a flash of wings,s he jumped forward, grabbing for the fabric of his jacket. His shoulder. His arm. Anything to keep her from laying flat on her face in the concrete. She had enough momentum to shatter the damn stuff!

Vincent ran along through the crowd, confident that the girl would not be able to pursue him through the chaos. But that thought was soon disrupted when he saw the long haired figure emerge from a small clearing between two buildings on the shopping district and lunge forward at him with immense strength. What was she? Another vampire? But she wasn't pale...She had to be something else. It must be her gift!
Vincent glanced back and spun around pushing her reaching arm to the side with his right arm. Her skin felt very rough, and her arm was much harder to push away than he had imagined. She definitely was not normal. The force she lunged at him with caused him to slide back a few meters on his heels, and he lost his balance.
He landed with a bounce on his rear, and his shades crooked to the side with his landing. He quickly slid them back on while picking himself up.
"What is it that you want with me!?" Vincent said in a frustrated voice. He looked at her coldly through his shades. He was seriously considering feeding on her unnecessarily if she made any more forward approaches as she just did. Despite his ignorance of who or what she may be.

There had been an upside and a downside to being pushed away. Upside: she didn't hit the concrete headfirst. Downside: she fell backwards against the building and hit her head. Hard. Upside to the Downside: she didn't faint or get a concussion. Second upside: the vamp had fallen as well. Good thing she'd had so much momentum.
She stood, and with a glance around, found the street had cleared. There was only a single homeless man crouched beneath a cardboard box, and he was asleep. His dirty and muddied face looked oddly peaceful. Weird how her crash hadn't woken him up.
She started stretching, cracking her knuckles and feeling for wounds. Nothing on her human. She let her wings spread. Folding first one than the other over her shoulder, she searched for any damage. When she was done, she let her wings go back to their normal state. She felt nothing if not sore. And she could handle sore. Little kids bit your hands when they didn't like you taken them away from mum and dad. But she was stronger, and she had scales. How nice for the little baby.
"What is it that you want with me!?" She glanced up when he basically growled at her. With a smirk, she went over to him and grinned down at him. She stole his shades and started playing with them. She had to have something for her hands to play with or she'd go crazy.
"Good lord," She commented casually. "You didn't have to run. Since when do the big boys of town send women to do their dirty work? It's always the guys, you know. And I don't even know your name. If Twilight hadn't-"
She cut off, spinning and searching the floor. She'd forgotten Twilight. Oh no. OH NO. She'd forgotten Twilight! She spun faster, searching every corner of the street she could see with her eyes. Only when she saw Twilight careening around the corner did she relax. The cat must have left her arms when she had jumped. She picked the cat up with one hand, and the feline immediately climbed to lay around her shoulders like a shawl.
"I just wanted to talk to you, for god's sake," She continued finally. "I wanted to know why twilight was so uncomfortable. She usually doesn't hiss at vampires when we first meet them."

"I just wanted to talk to you, for god's sake," She continued finally. "I wanted to know why twilight was so uncomfortable. She usually doesn't hiss at vampires when we first meet them." Vincent winced at the strange woman's remark as he bowed his head to hide his face from her. How in bloody hell was he supposed to know why her cat was freaking out!? But it doesn't matter, at least he knows that her intention is not one of violence. At least not for now. They would've have been throwing blows if that were the case.
Even stranger though, was the fact that she obtained this information about him being a vampire from her cat. Is she insane and going off a guess or something? No, it would be foolish to think that someone would go through a crowd of people guessing that one of them is a vampire.
"What of this cat "Twilight", how does it know what I am?" asked Vincent extending a gesturing hand for the return of his shades. His mask from reality. His mind lusting for the answer.

"What of this cat "Twilight", how does it know what I am?" He said and held out his hand. Somewhat reluctantly, she handed the shades back. They were nice ones. And if he put them on, she would have a harder time reading him. He was going to put them on. Damn him. Or was that already done?
Ali laughed. "It's called you reek of vampire. She isn't the only one that your presence bothers. I just didn't notice it until i bumped into you. That is why i didn't ask what you where, but why your presence made Twilight angry."
The explanation was longer than she usually cared to give. She preferred a hurt first ask questions later technique. but she was smarter than that. She a) wouldn't win the fight or b) wouldn't get an answer if she did. Fighting a vampire wasn't the best idea either.
So she was stuck letting him make the decisions as she scratched Twilight. Unless she got answers, what a waste of time.
