Eve walked cautiously through the gates of The Academy eyes searching the moonlit grounds for something, but not knowing what. A slight breeze was causing the trees to sway gently. Every little sound causing her eyes to dart around looking to make sure she wasn't being attacked.
She had heard rumours about The Academy but apart from superstitious gossiping she knew nothing about the place. A 'friend' she had met had told her about The Academy and suggested going there for help instead of running away from the vampire slayer. It was her last chance and only hope, a last resort.
Never in her wildest dreams did she think she would need the help of anyone. She was lone vampire, strong, fast, self healing no need for anyone else. But her she was running from an equally strong enemy, straight to the one place she thought never even existed.
The cool chill to the night air was reminding her of the night she was turned. Walking home from university through the moonlit forest she had pulled her jacket out of her bag and put it on. When suddenly she was grabbed from behind, she had fought but was weak and no match for the supernatural being that held her. She could remember her pulse racing, sweat forming on her brow, hot breath on her neck and then the pain that shot through her neck. The next thing she remembered she was drinking the blood from a man's neck and then passed out again. All that was in the past now.
She continued down a dirt path that lead to some buildings. She had no idea where she was, who she had to see or where she had to go. She sat down on the steps of one of the buildings, the moonlight making her already milky white skin paler and waited for someone to help her. She didn't know how long she would have to wait but until sunrise time was hers.

The world seemed to be throwing vampires at Dorian. First there was the sadistic guy in the courtyard, practically foaming at the mouth before he attacked him. Then there was Corinthia, the vampire he saved from the sunlight on his walk home from work. And now... this girl.
Vampires weren't easy to spot - for the most part, they looked like any other human being. But Dorian was now wary of meeting strangers at night, especially pale strangers that looked at home in the dark. These creatures owned the nighttime hours, stalked and prowled and hunted... they behaved like a predator. But this girl didn't look like she belonged at the top of the food chain. Even so, Dorian approached with caution.
"Get locked out of your dorm?" Hey, maybe if he was lucky, she'd just be some University student. But he had a feeling Fate wouldn't be so kind. Was the world trying to tell him to find some immortal friends? Dorian flinched - knowing you had an eternity to live wasn't always the coolest thing in the world when all your best friends were human. But seriously. Vampires? Couldn't he get lucky like his parents and just find some decent human girl with an irregular lifespan?
The winter chill brought with it the need to stay warm, so Dorian was swathed in an expensive trench coat. His hair, thanks to peer pressure, was now significantly shorter than what he was comfortable with, but more than his new hairstyle Dorian Wilde hated hats, so the new look was exposed. He noticed this girl didn't look very cold, adding further proof to his 'all pale people are vampires' theory.

Eve was entranced in a thought, one in which when she had first turned she had brutally murdered a girl named Sophia, a horrible young woman who had tormented Eve from childhood, she had drained the girl of every last drop of blood and watched the life drain out of her eyes. This thought now made her red lips part in a devious smile.
Far off into the distance she heard a noise, footsteps. One person walking alone, she could tell this from her super hearing. The footsteps were coming towards her but she made no effort to move. A strikingly handsome man approached her, his hair glistening in the moonlight. He approached her cautiously.
"Get locked out of your dorm?"
At the sound of his voice Eve looked slowly up at him her piercing blue eyes looking directly into his. It was funny that he thought she already belonged at The Academy. She wondered if he was relatively new as well seeing as though he thought she belonged.
Slowly she stood up from the step and took a step towards him. She was trying to prove her dominance in the situation. She could hear his heart beating a little faster than normal. Was he nervous to be around her? Did he already know she was a nightstalker? Did he already know that she could drain his blood right then and there?
The thought excited her a little. Of course she needed help so for the mean time she would have to make do with blood from animals. Peasants drink animal blood she thought to herself disgusted.
“Umm no. I’m new. I’ve just arrived tonight. I’m Eve,” she said taking a step closer to the man hand outstretched. She smiled cheekily and awaited the man’s next move.

Dorian resisted the urge to back away from her as she advanced. Well, she was certainly forward. All thoughts of her looking timid vanished, and instead he regarded her with wary eyes.
"New huh. Couldn't wait till morning?" His raised eyebrow said everything about his suspicions. Usually Dorian wasn't so obvious, but Eve didn't seem like the type of person to beat around the bush. The way she stared him right in the eye gave him the impression she was a more direct personality.
He nodded up the stairs she'd just abandoned, "Administrator's office is just up that way, but it doesn't open till nine. You'll be waiting for a while," He added, hinting that she should find something better to do than just loiter around. Not that it was any business what she did or didn't decide to do. He wasn't sure if he thought it was creepy for her to linger, or if his more base urge to protect those who appeared weaker than him was telling him she shouldn't be out here by herself. Not that this mattered if she indeed was a vampire; she'd be much more capable of defending herself against anything hostile stalking the grounds than he would. But still. Seeing a girl by herself in the dead of night was much like seeing an injured puppy on the side of the road. You couldn't ignore it unless you were a heartless bastard. And contrary to popular belief, Dorian Wilde was not a heartless bastard.
At least, not all the time.

Eve watched as he appeared to look her up and down.
"New huh. Couldn't wait till morning?"
She knew from the look in his eyes that she had been outed. He suspected her of being the vicious vampire that she was. It was exciting to know that she knew that he knew what she was. She couldn’t help but smile.
She was getting hungry and would kill for a bite to eat but she would just have to wait until she could catch an animal. She wondered if there were other vampires at the academy and wondered what they did for food and during the sunlight. She wanted to be shown around and told everything about the academy.
This guy was alright. At first she had thought him arrogant but now he seemed fairly down to earth. Eve also liked his taste in fashion, his coat was amazing. She felt a little Jealous that she never felt the temperature changed.
She knew that everyone who came to the academy had ‘gifts’ and wondered what his was. Maybe it was reading minds or something equally as cool. Lucky for her no one could read her mind or else they would be scarred for life.
The only thing she knew for certain was time was running out until the sun came up and whether he knew it or not he was her only option for help.
“I have a little issue, as I am sure you have noticed, that prevents me from waiting here until the office opens. Any advice?”

He was planning on dropping by to visit his friend Jon. The younger boy was up studying for exams, and Dorian had a Redbull tucked in his trench coat pocket as a peace-offering. He needed some help with a final project due tomorrow, and it would only take an hour of Jon's time, but knowing his best friend the boy would panic about not having enough time. So Dorian already had a solution; caffeine. He was already pumped up on two of the potent energy drinks himself, which probably added to his paranoia. But when Eve so much as confirmed herself, he became a bit edgy.
She was asking him for advice, and he it looked like he was thinking about it for a moment. Then, he seemed to find an answer.
"Sunblock?" He suggested with a not-so-innocent quirk of his eyebrow. Yeah, he could get in deep shit by teasing an unknown vampire, but he was on Academy grounds. He should be safe here. Even if he did provoke her to attack, it was nothing he wouldn't recover from. His overconfidence made him reckless, and the liquid stimulant forced the adrenaline to rush through his veins. It was a powerful combination. Also incredibly stupid.
Dorian let his mind drift away from Jon and projects, and instead his thoughts focused on the dark beauty that stood before him. He wondered if she was one of those really, really old vampires. Now, his parents were really old - his father's cousin was Oscar Wilde, and that guy was born in the 1850s. Anyway, his interest was merely curiosity. Dorian liked history, so his parents told him all sorts of wild true stories of things they'd witnessed through the ages. As he looked at Eve, he tried picturing her in some old-school outfit, but it just wasn't working.

"Sunblock?"
He was very quick witted and this made Eve smile. While he was stunning and tall she could take him if he kept pushing her. She knew she had a very short temper and no one who had ever tried her patience had lived to warn others.
"Very funny, I need help and you can either help or not. I would appreciate the former. And the sun will be rising soon."
Although he was some what amusing, his hilarity was starting to wear her patience thin. She smiled weakly, making sure to show her teeth. She needed him to hurry up and help her or she would be left to hunt for a place to stay until the sun set again.

"If by 'soon' you mean like, six hours, yeah," Dorian consulted his watch, knowing sunrise didn't happen till about 5-6am. What was it with vampires being stupid and forgetting about the sun? It was only a matter of life and death...
He crossed his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow at her. She didn't seem like the vulnerable type. And besides, even if he was to offer help, what would he do? His apartment was far from here, a decent forty-five minute cab ride. It wasn't like he could just bring her back to his place. In the case of Corinthia, the other vampire he'd saved from the sun, they'd just been around the corner. And, Dorian admitted, he liked her. Eve was predatory though, nothing like Corey, and for some reason that was a turn-off for him. At least when it came to rescuing idiotic vampires. Corey has revealed her vulnerability, whereas with Eve he suspected she wouldn't show weakness ever.
"What do you want me to do?" She said she was new, therefore a stranger to the Academy. He shouldn't even open the door for her - who knew if she was friendly or hostile? Dorian had never really been in trouble before, perhaps a few scoldings when he was younger - that was an inevitable side-effect of hanging out with one of the most boisterous kids in school. But he had a feeling that if he let a rogue vampire into the school, the consequences would be a bit more severe than a firm talking-to.

"Look, I'm sorry. It's just I need help and this place is my last hope. I am use to being lone and not needing anyone or anything. I also have very little social skills. I see humans as food but it doesn't mean I will eat you. I also talk a lot when I get stressed. If I wanted to hurt you we wouldn't be having this conversation right now."
Eve was surprised that she had just blurted that out. She was showing some vulnerability and that was not at all her style. Some how she felt she could trust this guy.
All she could think was the predator was now the prey and her situation was dire. She would do ANYTHING to be safe again. She would change her whole life around just to be safe.
"Please....."
She left her plea hanging in the air. Her countdown had begun, she had 6 hours.
