Name: Halvor Orm
Alias: Hal,
Age: Indeterminate (born October 9th)
Sex: Male; Heterosexual
Species: Vampire
Anathema: Redheaded women
Gift:
~Chameleon (beginning of stage 3)
~Shapeshifting (stage 1)
~Telepathy (Stage 2, weak)
Appearance:
A man of uncertain age, Halvor looks quite young for however old he is (physically appearing somewhere in his early thirties). He is of a light build, although is not without a fair amount of muscle, and pale skinned. His hair is fairly long, reaching his shoulders barely, and black; he commonly keeps it in a ponytail to keep it out of his eyes. These eyes, which survey the world with sullen intensity, are dark brown and framed with thick lashes.
Bodily, he is six feet, five inches and weighs 165 lbs. He has a scar on the right side of his face from a childhood battle and has lost much of his eyesight from it.
Because of his vampirism, he often wears long pants and sleeves and hats, although sometimes while inside or in a shadowy place, he’ll wear a t-shirt. Most prominently, though, he is in heavy fabrics and can look quite scary upon first meeting him. He also habitually wears fingerless gloves in order to cover his hands.
Halvor does not have an aversion to needles; he has his right ear punched through with two helix piercings and a small, earlobe piercing on his left ear. From it he hangs a cross; since he became a vampire, he enjoys mocking Christianity by being an ‘undead who bears the cross’. He’s become quite infamous for this.
Occasionally, Halvor will wear reading glasses, although he does not need them, noting that they make him look ‘Scholarly and intellectual’. As attractive as he is, Halvor’s scars and personality can be off-putting. He also has a low self-esteem, which is why he taps into his Gifts in order to hide himself. Although he does not often change himself physically (he usually just hides himself by blending in) he does have a tendancy to keep himself and others entertained (or confused) by changing himself.
Personality:
Somewhat of an introvert, Halvor does not have many friends. He is the distinct opposite of a pacifist, finding fighting an excellent way to relieve stress and earn a few more battlescars. Incredibly intelligent, he is nonetheless a deep thinker and has difficulty mingling with others. Because of this, he often uses his Chameleon power to hide in big crowds.
One of Halvor’s most prominent traits is his sharp temper and his biting sarcasm. He does not hold back when he is angry (which tends to happen on a fairly regular basis) and seems to have an almost psychopathic attitude towards new people or people he dislikes. He is rarely intentionally cruel, though; while biting, he dislikes needless cruelty and often steps in when he sees it happening. This somewhat hypocritical way of living leaves being friendly a bit out of reach.
Halvor is primarily interested in writing. He is very much the creative soul and spends much of his time writing plays, poems and stories that he is reluctant to let others read. This is because he is emotionally fragile, despite the way he acts. He is also almost completely nocturnal in order to avoid the sun. Occasionally he'll go out into daylight, but usually he stays well tucked away in his home during daylight hours.
Halvor can be charming when he wants to, even a gentleman. While definitely not a lady’s man, he has his moments of likeability and even accidental generosity. He is also surprisngly easy to amuse.
Family:
Halvor was born to a widow, as his father had been shot in a gang fight shortly before his birth. He is two older twin sisters, both of whom he has fallen out of touch with. His mother died when he was two years old and he was sent to live with his grandfather, who worked as a butcher and mentored Halvor in the art of slaughter.
Halvor was engaged before he was transformed. His fiancée (a redheaded woman) rejected him after this and contributed his anathema (young, redheaded women). He had no children or grandchildren to speak of.
HiSTORY:
Halvor was born in Voss, Norway, and left after he was transformed. Who transformed him and why is unknown and he has no recollection of the event. While his childhood was muddled due to the death of his parents, Halvor grew up a fairly normal (if not aggressive) young man. At age 17 he received his first battle scar from a gang fight. It was inflicted by a broken glass bottle and rendered him nearly blind in his right eye (it was only from his vampire transformation that he can see at all out of that eye). He was deemed an outcast because of his aggressive, sociopathic behavior and left Voss after he was transformed (probably somewhere around his thirties). He went to the Americas and settled in New York, where he is now living, and learned English. He is now in college, studying psychology.
