Full Name:Oliver James Eldridge
Nicknames:Ollie
Age:27
Gender:Male. Heterosexual.
Species:Gifted.
Abilities: Telekinesis II, Telepathy (reception) III, Clairvoyance
Occupation:
☆Appearance☆
Ollie is quite tall, standing at 5"10, and has a fairly average build. He generally lets his facial hair grow, only shaving maybe twice a week if that, and he has dark hair that reaches just past his ears. His skin tone is slightly darker than many of the Brits around which he was raised, suggesting a mixed race grandparent somewhere down the line. He has green/hazel eyes, and a lovely smile. His dress style ranges from casual, to fairly formal, depending on where he's going, and of course, what role he is playing.
☆Personality☆
Ollie is a very outgoing person. He is a natural leader, being charismatic, and pouring that charisma into everything he does, whether that is acting, music or friendships. He finds making friends relatively easy, and he likes to be certain of his goals. He tries to look out for others, and can also be quite cheeky, and take himself into consideration first. Not out of deliberate selfishness, but it is something that has helped him in his goals.
☆History☆
In 1982 there was a very cold, and early, winter across great Britain. One of the greatest effects of this winter was the baby boom in the late summer and early autumn of the next year. One of the spawn of this large human crop, was Oliver James Eldridge. His parents had been married a few years, five or so, and they had settled down, and at some point in that winter, had ended up with a baby.
Matthew Ignus Eldridge had desperately wanted to name his son "Matthew II" or "Billamathon", or some other strange name, but Almetta Eldridge would have none of it. They had loud, most often not serious, debates about what to name their child, before settling on Oliver as a first name and James, Almetta's father's name, as a second name.
Matthew and Almetta had both come from gifted backgrounds, however, Almetta was not herself gifted. They both knew that Ollie would be gifted, but they weren't sure what gifts he would posses. Matthew was a Telekinetic - all of his family had been, but Almetta's family were strong telepaths, and the gift was known for occasionally skipping a generation, or maybe even two. It was evident that he was a telepath when he learned to talk at the age of one, and was a fairly fluent talker at that. His telepathic powers had kicked in especially early, enabling him to read the surface thoughts of those around him, letting him associate words with different things much faster than a regular child. He was already fluent in English by the time he was three, and his clairvoyance was starting to take hold.
When he entered school, he was firmly told by his parents not to reveal his gifts to anyone, and he kept the secret, as much as he could. Occasionally, he would read a thought and misinterpret it as speech. Never a good thing. This was partly the reason he didn't make many friends as a small child.
He moved to middle school when he was a little older, and here he made more friends, especially after taking guitar for music class. He also became fascinated with theatre, and joined a local acting troupe, performing minor and major works from that century. His first role was Stephano, in The Tempest. The summer after he left middle school, he started to gain his telekinesis powers.
He slid down the polished wooden banister of his house, (much to the dismay of his mother) and sat down to breakfast, before the door to the refrigerator opened, and a glass of orange juice poured itself, and some toast flew into the toaster. Being nearly a teenager at that point, Ollie was too groggy to notice, as he had woken up early that morning, but the sudden manipulation of inanimate objects made Almetta glance around for her husband, who had already left for work. She was so confused that she tried phoning him on his mobile, before she glanced at her son, who was eating levitating toast. It took a moment before he actually realized what he was doing, and they both burst out laughing.
When he entered high school, he chose music, theatre, CDT and art as his subjects, and became the scorn of many as he easily flew by his maths and science exams. He could admit, later on, that he was actually cheating, by reading the minds of the others around him, and using his clairvoyance to see what answers they had written. He didn't feel guilty about it - he felt that had he the ability to project thoughts, he would more than willingly help those in need of assistance.
To make up for his blatant disregard for the normal rules in exams, he would often help others in studying attempts, and even gave assistance in subjects like CDT and theatre. Many a girl had fought to be the first to ask for help learning lines, and with equations that they already knew. Ollie and his friends found this hilarious, and they helped egg it on more than trying to stop it. In high school Ollie showed himself to be a natural leader, as the leader of his group of friends.
There were fifteen of them, and they were a crowd of people that didn't fit any specific stereotypes - a couple of them were into theatre, most of them were into music, and played the guitar. A few were really into crafts, and they were mostly post average at academic subjects. They were the envy of many another student, as it was a crowd that always seemed to be having fun. Ollie and his friends graduated high school with decent grades, and most went their separate ways, some going to acting school, some doing degrees, some going straight away to get jobs.
Ollie himself went to acting school in London, and started a band named Fish Bone Fever, with himself playing the guitar, a friend from high school playing sax, a vocalist named Danni, a bassist named Figaro, and a percussionist. Figaro and Danni were both gifted ones, that he had met down at a jazz cafe in London, run by a Demon and Djin couple, and was widely known as the local hotspot for the magical community. The sax player (who's name was Robert) had known about Ollie's gifts from high school, leaving Hippo the Drummer (who's real name was Jack) the only one that had no idea about the magical community. They mainly played at the Lead Lantern Jazz Cafe, and in a rehearsal place bought by Figaro.
Ollie started dating Danni, and they moved in together at an apartment after a couple of months. The band payed the bills just about, while Ollie finished acting school. He passed with flying colours, and was ready to head off into the wide world, when several things happened at once.
Firstly, he got a phone call, telling him his mother was on her deathbed. He rushed home, and said his final good-byes. He had always been very close to his mother, and he was absolutely devastated. His father was distraught. His friends all came for the funeral, even some of his old high school friends.
When they departed, he stayed with his father for a while, to help him out, and get him sorted out, and sort his will out. When this was done, he returned to London, to find that the apartment had been emptied, Danni was now with Figaro, Jack had been severely injured in a traffic accident, and most of his friends from university had moved away.
He said his good-byes to Robert and Jack, and apologized to Danni for being away too long, and she apologized to him for not keeping things up - she had simply not had the money, and Figaro had a place to stay. He was truly heart broken, but he realized that it was no-one's fault. he said good-bye to Figaro, and moved to New York, to somewhere totally different, to see if he could get any luck in his acting career there. He was lucky to have moved a few months before the academy moved to New York, so he became connected with a real community of gifted ones, and that was when he started really considering himself as a gifted one, as opposed to a normal human.
He managed to get several roles on broadway, one leading to another, until he was playing several lead parts. He took up tutoring at the academy for his spare time, as his shows oftentimes did not play during the day. So he became a tutor, teaching gifted children to handle their powers in a real world setting.
He is currently looking for his next role in Broadway, glad that he seems to have made his big break. he is still unable to get the thoughts of all that happened in England from his mind, while he stills keeps in firm contact with several of his friends.
