MY ILLUSION, MY MISTAKE--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What does painting mean to me? What kind of question is that? Who would ask such an absurd question? Painting isn’t just something to me. It’s…my life; my escape hatch. Painting was my ticket out of this awful country. Well that’s a bit harsh. American’s aren’t awful, just…thick. Pfft. Let’s be honest with ourselves now, they’re just flat out dim-witted. Clearly an inadequate American wrote this question, one who doesn’t know about art at all; otherwise they would have known to not to ask such a silly question. I really should consider moving back to England for school. Lena looked at one of the attachments to her college applications and scoffed. The questions they required all applying students to fill out were ridiculous. Lena couldn’t just express her love for painting, she had to show it. With every stroke, and the precision, there came something greater, a passion became apparent. Rolling her eyes, Lena tucked away the packet of ridiculous questions and pulled out her iPod from her bag. A canvas was already set up and she was preparing to paint the lake. The way the waves were lapping over each other and the exact angle the sun was shining down, and bouncing off the glossy water was perfect; if there was such a thing. Every artist knew there wasn’t perfect. There was unique, and that’s what you strived to be, well that or the best, but Lena wasn’t aiming for best. Brushing a stray piece of hair behind her ear, she picked up a brush began painting. It was as if she was sucked into the painting, and she was running around the canvas adding in little details here and there. As time went on, a picture began to form, and Lena was able to go back in and add little quirk details, and illusions. As “For Good” lulled Lena, the sun began to sink as afternoon turned to evening. “I should…get up..” She muttered to herself as she laid herself down onto the soft grass. She was so comfortable though, and it wasn’t too hot nor too cold, just perfect. Maybe a little nap wouldn’t hurt. It wasn’t like she was planning to get dinner…more like sludge from this wretched place anyway. One…itty…bitty little nap wouldn’t hurt. Lena was just closing her eyes and dozing off to her music when an acorn fell on her nose. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw a squirrel running above her. Damn squirrel… Lena closed her eyes again…when yet again, another acorn dropped. Grumbling, Lena pushed herself up into a position that was neither lying nor sitting. Resting back on her arms, she looked around for the squirrel ready to throw the acorn right back at it. “Dumb squirrel..”She muttered as she searched the great big oak tree.

OOC: Due to uncertainty with Locke's future, I am sending in a pinch hitter.
IC:
The grounds. Filled with grass, trees, all manner of animals and students enjoying the late day sun. But who cared about all of that? All that mattered was what was on the other side of this particular field. Why they put the garage all the way over there? Who needed a pretty little field anyway? They were in the middle of New York City for christ's sake! Why not just make it a cafeteria, or a driving course or a club or something. A club just for Gifted, now that would be fun...
It was as he was entertaining this thought that he walked past a rather good looker, she had an easel set up, though it was blank. At least that was what Leo thought at first, his second look would reveal that there was actually a canvas there. He was shocked for a moment, the picture was so lifelike that he hadn't been able to tell the difference with a passing glance, only now that he looked at it directly did he see that it really was just a painting...and what a painting.
He was about to make a statement when the acorn fell onto the girls nose. Leo stifled a laugh as another fell, and then he chuckled lightly. "Having a bit of a rodent problem there?" He said, picking up one of the acorns and running it through his fingers. "Nice picture by the way, you draw that?" He asked rather innocently, no need to come on strong on the first sentence.

MY ILLUSION, MY MISTAKE--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lena heard the deep male voice from behind her and leaned her head back to look at him. Of course he was upside down, but that didn’t change the view, no not at all. She was looking up at a tall(Though with her lying on the ground of course he was going to be tall), thin man with hair the color of the smooth dirt beneath her. He was certainly a beautiful specimen, but not the exact specimen she was interested at the moment. “I suppose you could say that” Lena shrugged as she returned her eyes to the leaves in the tree. “where…is that dumb squirrel..”She muttered once again agitated. Her painting was now dry, and as she searched the tree tops, she couldn’t help but sneak a glance at it. It really was pretty good. As she turned now to gaze at her painting, the squirrel temporarily forgotten, Lena couldn’t help but wonder about the man behind her. She was a painter, and painting the fine specimen behind her would be an excellent addition to her collection, but how could she ask that without coming off as creepy? Lena didn’t do creepy. Lena didn’t even do abnormal. At his question, Lena turned and smiled a charming smile. “Why yes, I did. Thank you” She nodded. Now Lena wasn’t one to just be nice to anyone, it was only when she needed something that she was generally nice to people. Maybe that contributed to the fact that she wasn’t exactly a social butterfly. Then again she was also honest…and blunt. She’s learned that Americans have never been accepting of these traits of hers. Hmm, that was probably why she was often seen painting by herself. Maybe she really should go back to England. At least there they could handle her sarcasm, wit, and honesty. Ha.

Leo watched her arch her head backwards. He debated on taking a closer 'look', but decided to keep his mind from the gutter for now. When she made mention of the squirrel, a rare bit of foresight crept into Leo's brain.
"I'd be careful about that. You never know when it's a shape shifter, or doing a favor for someone who can talk to it. Nothing is ever as it seems here. Hell, for all I know your picture could come to life and try to eat me." He paused for a minute. "It isn't going to do that, right?" He asked with a half smile. It wasn't totally obvious if he was kidding or serious.
"Yeah, seen a lot of weird stuff here. But you look new, at least you're not one I've seen before, and I wouldn't forget talent like yours." Yeah talent, not her body. That wasn't it at all.
He drew closer and began examining the painting. "It really does look real, how do you even do that?" He paused for a moment, before looking over her again. Well, beauty sought beauty he supposed.
"Ah, forgot sorry." He held out a gloved hand at first, and then pulled the dirty mechanic glove off to reveal a cleaner palm underneath.
"Names Leo, resident expert in all things speed, and you are?" He asked with a charming smile.

MY ILLUSION, MY MISTAKE--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shape shifter eh? Lena hadn't thought about that. This is true though, now she was on academy grounds, she was able to use her 'talents' without consequence. Interesting...very interesting. This thought brought a devious smirk to her lips as she looked to the tree. Oh she'd even the score with the damn squirrel. Until then, she had this young man to entertain her. "I don't see why someone would want to harass me...It's not like I know anyone" Lena shrugged. "I don't have any enemies that I know about..."...yet. She thought shrugging, surprisingly okay with that thought. Eh. Enemies and friends made the world go around. It happened. When he mentioned her painting coming to life she just pushed herself up to standing and looked at him like he belonged in an institution. A painting? Coming to life? Heh...funny. Not. "Yeah..." Lena nodded kind of just looking him over. He might be slightly weird...but he was cute...with an equally beautiful body. Lena smiled at his compliment and played the innocent card, looking away in modesty. "Oh...I'm not that good...but you are correct. I am new" She smiled gazing up again, flashing a brilliantly white smile. "Thank you though." Lena added, though when he asked her how she did it she just arched a brow. "A magician never reveals his tricks...why should an artist?" She threw back daring him to ask her again. When he stuck out his hand, Lena merely looked at it. She wasn't one for physical interaction such as this. "I'm..." She paused to think about her answer and just offered a shrug "just part of your imagination" She said simply and turned on her heel to gather up her things. Lena was an expert in males. Leave them wanting more...she just threw out the bait...now time to lure him in.

Leo half smirked at being stiffed by the girl. He grinned, placing his hands back into his pockets.
"A figment of my imagination? Well that just isn't possible, I don't think my imagination could create such beauty." If he was talking about the artist or her work, that would be something she'd have to figure out themselves.
"And seriously, the 'hard to get' routine is so last century. Life is short, you should enjoy it while you still have the time. After all, whose to say when it will come screeching to a halt?" With a flash, he was in front of her again.
"Didn't I already say I was the expert on speed? You can't shake me off that easily." He said with a coy grin. "But still, if you aren't interested in this, I don't suppose I can change your mind much. After all, I'm a busy, busy man. Life goes a hundred miles an hour, if you can't keep up it'll pass you by."
As if to show off, Leo focused his power. With a zip he ran straight up the tree she was under, looking down on her from a branch.
"Hey, I think I found that squirrel you were looking for."

MY ILLUSION, MY MISTAKE--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lena just rolled her eyes at this. "Save the flattery" She said unfolding her easel. "I'm sure you're like every other typical guy, just wanting to get into my pants." She said turning around to look at him only to see thin air. Where did he go? Lena heard his voice behind her and she jumped. She turned and narrowed her eyes."Hard to get?" Lena smirked at this and let a small laugh out. "As if I need to play hard to get." She rolled her eyes as if the idea were absurd. "I don't play hard to get." She informed him, though that was exactly what she was doing. Playing hard to get. The coy grin got to her. Lena arched an amused brow and shrugged. Alright, she'd play along. Sort of. "You...don't know who I am...do you?" Lena asked offering up an innocent smile. "I mean not that you should...or anything. I'm just a little nobody" She said sarcastically. "With absolute no leverage over you." She added on at the end. What a load of crap. She was a telekinetic. She could teleport. If she wanted to get rid of him, she could easily do so. Lucky for him, she was somewhat amused. This man had turned out to be more than just beautiful. "I'm just here to slow down those who go one hundred miles an hour" She called up to Leo who was now in the tree. "You showed off." She observed "Now it's my turn" She said her eyes flashing excitement. Lena looked up to the branches, rattling them in attempts to knocking them down to the ground. Battle of the gifts. This should be interesting. Hopefully he could fly, because she kept shaking the branches in hopes he'd lose his balance and fall.

Leo listened to her with a grin. Just to get into her pants? Well, he'd let her think that way for a while if she wanted to. In truth, Leo was just bored and girls were fun to toy with when he was bored. Besides, it was all just a game.
"Hmm hmm, are you someone I should know? How curious." Her mused from the tree, but when she said she'd slow him down he chuckled.
"You wouldn't be the first girl who tried, sweet heart. Let's see if you've got what it takes."
Leo felt the branch shake, and normally he could have maintained his balance...that is if the shaking was consistent. But of course, it wasn't, and he did fall. He allowed himself to fall head first, holding his hand out towards the ground.
He smiled all the way down, and the second his hand grazed the grass, he seemed to stop totally. He transferred the motion through the ground to right under Lena, which might seem like the ground itself was bumping under her. He rolled gracefully back onto his feet, looking at her again with a smile.
"Oh ho, so little kitty has claws eh? What else can you do, eh?" He asked defiantly, standing there as if nothing had even happened.

MY ILLUSION, MY MISTAKE--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sweetheart? He did not just call her sweetheart. "For the record...Lena is my name."She said as she watched him fall to the ground with a smile. What the hell? That was not suppose to happen, and before she knew it, she felt the ground wobbling beneath her, and her ankle twisting to the side. Now look what he did! Lena glared at him and looked to her ankle. "Great...thanks" She growled leaning over to touch it. It seemed fine, she moved her ankle, and felt a pain but it wasn't excruciating. Pushing herself up, Lena glared the entire time. "Why...did you do that?" She asked feeling a pain shoot up through the ankle. "Jerk..." She muttered. At his comment, Lena looked away. Kitty has claws? Oh she'd show him claws...she'd show him her palm to his cheek. Ass. "I...don't have to show you anything" She said defiantly.

Leo saw her ankle twist and grimaced. "Ah jeez, that doesn't look good. We better get you to Dr. Redwicke's, he can fix that up in a jiff." He said moving over to her. When she got defensive he just sighed.
"Listen, we were playing around, showing off, and you got hurt, let me at least take you over to the medic so we can get that looked at." He said to her, noticing the swelling in her ankle. "Trust me, you aren't doing yourself any favors by standing there on it. Now come on, let me give you a hand." He said, closing distance to her and offering her his hand. He expected some resistance from this girl, after all, she was clearly not happy with him and very unlikely to accept his help.
She didn't know it yet, but she didn't have a choice. He was pretty sure he could overpower her if he needed to.
"And for what it's worth, sorry I twisted your ankle." He said, so it sounded half-hearted now.

MY ILLUSION, MY MISTAKE--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow. He was sorry he twisted her ankle? Thanks. That show off. Lena could feel her back molars grinding as she narrowed her eyes at him. "I know your type...the big Hercules type." She rolled her eyes and took his hand. "You're not doing me any favors by helping." She muttered "Just wasting your time..." She sighed under her breath. "I really don't think I need to go to a doctor though. I just need to sit down and put ice on it. You know this isn't the first time I've twisted an ankle." Lena informed him as she held onto him for support keeping her weight off the twisted ankle. As Lena placed another hand gentlly on his forearm, she could feel the solid form of his arm underneath. Fast, and strong. Hmm. Maybe this guy wasn't so bad afterall. Though he had twisted her ankle. Asshole. "If you could just drop me off at one of the common rooms and let me sit there, and possibly fetch me some ice that would be just splendid" Lena concluded, her English accent coming out a tad bit more as she was growing frustrated with the growing pain in her ankle. Honestly. Why was she still babbling? Especially being a tad bit nicer towards the end of that. Honestly? Lena just sighed and waited to start moving. She'd come back for her things in a bit, or possibly send this man to do it. It seemed almost like she had him wrapped around her finger, and if she didn't, well she could certainly achieve this.

"Big Hercules type? I've been called a lot of things, but being a big hero was never one of them. Well except for that whole 'sunlight bomb' thing...but that's not important." When she put more of her weight on him, he reached a hand down and swept it under her knees, picking her up bridal style. "Hold on." Leo said. "I don't like doing things the usual way." He said, before taking off.
It was unusual. To spite how fast they were moving, what most people would call a sprint, there wasn't any of the usual bumps and shaking that came with that speed. It was as if she was simply hovering as his hands didn't shake or falter. Leo seemed to be looking at something, and smiled briefly as he seemed to find what he was looking for. Someone had opened one of the common room windows on this lovely day, how convenient. The window's opening was a few feet from the ground, and Leo smiled as he turned towards it. The turn itself didn't seem as jarring as it should have been, in fact if her eyes were closed she may not have even noticed that they did turn.
"Hold on tight!" Leo said, with a broad grin as his feet left the earth. With a little help from his Gift, the pair slid right through the open window, him landing in the common room rather gracefully.
"So, how was that for fast service?" He asked to the injured girl, as he moved to lay her down on one of the larger sofas.

MY ILLUSION, MY MISTAKE--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey! Hey! Hey! Who said you could pick me up!? Lena thought as she was picked up as if she were his blushing bride. "Let. Me.--" She didn't get a chance to finish her demands because before she could get the words out he broke in with "I don't like doing things the normal way and they were off. "Leeeooo!" She uttered squirming in his arms. "Let me down this instant!" She demanded as they flew over the campus towards the common rooms. "Let me down! Now!" She repeated, but to her dismay he did not relinquish her. What the hell? She did NOT ask for a free ride on a freaking roller coaster. She wanted to hobble back, not THIS! She had her eyes open the entire time, and the faster they went the tighter her nails dug into him. When they turned she squeaked and turned her head into his chest. "You stupid...stupid boy!" She muttered to herself though with the wind flying past them, she doubt he could hear her. Though it wasn't a bumpy ride, it was a terribly fast one. What was his problem? He was showing off again. He was trying to be the "Same big Hercules" type that she knew he was. Ugh. She hated people like him. People who felt like they needed to show off to gain the attention of others. As soon as he set her down, Lena glared. "THAT!" She snapped "Was not necessary" She uttered letting her heart rate slow down. "That, was ridiculous." She uttered "If you would so kindly fetch me some ice, I think I shall stay put on this sofa, where I shall not move. At all." She glared as she let herself relax into the sofa after a few tense moments. Her back finally relaxed into the comfortable sofa, and she could feel her heart slowing down. She didn't want to admit it, not to him but that had terrified her, just a little bit. Especially the jump. Lena was not the kind of person who had a need for speed.
