The radio was mumbling and cracking as Jessamyn turned the car engine off, "A b-e-a-utiful day here in Central Park, isn't it a sight, people picnicking, lovers frolicking, dog walkers walking, and h-" the noise was cut to a halt as Jess turned the dial. It was indeed a very bright day in the hight of summer, but Jessamyn was in hardly any mood to be jolly.
As he opened the battered car door, wrappers and old newspapers fell out into the dirty New York alleyway, along with two black brogue shoes, followed by long legs and finally a slim body, topped with his silk like head of crimson hair. He stood up, gathered his bearings and shut the door carelessly. Checking about him, he altered his silver wings, they had been uncomfortable while driving, and hid them. He walked towards the main street, and pulled down his dark sunglasses before the strength of the sun hit his face.
He had no great intentions for the day, he thought to himself while crossing a busy road, but was very intrigued to find out whether anything interesting might just come across him, this fine day, in this fine city.

((Heya ^^ I’m crashing your open thread. Haha I apologise in advance. )) You get your fair share of odd looks when you walk down a crowded street carrying a large dripping bag of ice cubes, stuffing your hand in the bag and crunching the cubes like potato crisps. Rhao rather liked getting odd looks almost as much as he liked dishing them right back. If it wouldn’t bring a world of chaos down on his head and the rest of the supernatural community he’d strut the streets all scaly and dragoned out. But despite what many people may have thought, he wasn’t a completely selfish individual. In all truth, Rhao probably should have been in class or at least back at the academy doing something vaguely studious to appease his bastard parents. But none of those things were on his to-do list, particularly the appeasing part. So there he was wandering the depressing streets of a depressing city he had no real interest in. He’d long given up on the busy pavement traffic and ducked into the less travelled alleyways of Manhattan. He wasted away the time admiring scruffy graffiti and carefully stepping over the sleeping husks of homeless people. Part of him almost hoped someone would try mugging him, at the very least it would bring a bit of excitement into the excursion and would justify the ice block crunching. The sound of an engine and a radio caught his attention as he turned a corner. Standing in the shadows, he caught sight of a mop of bright red hair as a bloke climbed out of the car. The brightness of the red was quite startling and for a moment it dredged up in Rhao an unwelcome pang of homesickness. And...Silver wings. He was fairly sure that he had just seen a pair of wings but they vanished before he could be completely sure that he wasn’t hallucinating. The last thing he had expected was to cross paths with a faerie, a silver winged one no less, escaping the supernatural community for the day was one of the reasons why he had bunked class after all. But his interest and curiosity were aroused and he couldn’t quite help himself. Popping another ice cube in his mouth, Rhao waited for the red head to leave the alleyway before following at a discreet distance. He wasn’t sure if he had been expecting the red head to do something mind blowingly interesting as he followed him for a block but nothing happened and he decided to coax something out of the faerie before giving up and finding someone else to entertain him. Rhao increased his pace, lengthening his lazy stride until he had cut the distance between them and fallen into step with the redhead. For a few moments he simply crunched his ice blocks in silence, walking beside the guy as if by coincidence before cocking his head to the side to look red head in the eye. Or at least, he thought he was looking him in the eye, with the sunglasses it was fairly hard to tell. He decided to throw in the dice and assume that he had seen the wings. After all, It was easier to assume that than to belive he was hallucinating. Rhao grinned and shoved his hand back into his bag to retrieve another handful of ice before speaking, “Alright, mate? Spotted your wings back there. Is that some kind of fashion statement? I gotta say, silver and red is a little too Christmas-y for my taste.”

Jess had tried his best to ignore the quiet crunching that seemed to have followed him for the past few minutes, but it proved a futile attempt. The dark flop of wild curly hair appeared next to him - Jess blushed embarrassingly a little as people in the street passed glances towards him with this new stranger.
The question...“Alright, mate? Spotted your wings back there. Is that some kind of fashion statement? I gotta say, silver and red is a little too Christmas-y for my taste.” yes - the Christmas comment was rather insulting (Jess was fond of his colours) but... he'd seen. Jess couldn't assume that the man was supernatural, that would be far too wreckless - as much as he disliked his ancestry, he loved the power he'd inherited from them. He kept quiet for a while, not answering as they walked on.
He must think of something to tell this man, anything - if he was supernatural, what difference did it make to Jess? It's nothing to me, Jess convinced himself - what difference would it make whether this man was or wasn't? So, Jess took the easy option... attempt to get rid... which, he thought might fail.
Jessamyn stood to a stop after reaching a small clearing in the forever flowing crowd of busy humans, he looked at the dark haired man, his sunglasses firmly over his eyes.
"I don't know what you're talking about." He said... very unconvincingly.

((Sorry about the lateness, Rl slammed me against a wall and proceeded to kick me when I was down ) Rhao would happily admit that he relished the man's embarassed blush it was almost as bright as his hair. They weren't exactly causing a scene - yet, but the two of them still made a rather odd sight. He feigned complete interest in crunching his ice as he discreetly watched the mixture of emotions cross the man's face out of the corner of his eye. The red head stopped suddenly and Rhao was forced to back track a step. The crowd of people surged around them as if they were just another inanimate object standing between the foot traffic and the destination they were all so intent on reaching. When the red head finally spoke the defensive tone in his voice was enough to confirm Rhao's suspicions. Going by his own twisted logic he figured that anyone who hadn't just sprouted a pair of wings and been caught in the act would have simply looked at Rhao as if he were crazy, perhaps laughed or thrown something at his head. Fervently denying it was further proof of the man's guilt. That or Rhao was simply refusing to admit that he was wrong and was simply harassing a very human stranger. "Ah," Rhao winked conspiratorially and perhaps a little mockingly. "Don't worry, your secrets safe with me, fairy boy."¨ He didn't bother lowering his voice to a whisper as would befit the conversation since the foot traffic swarming around them was loud and impersonal enough to make eavesdropping all but impossible. "Got a pair of them myself. Although, to be honest they are a lot bigger and a little less decorative than yours. And I"d trade them in happily for a dose of humanity." He wiped the ice water from his hand on his jeans before offering it to the man, more out of curiosity to see whether he would actually shake it than anything else. "Names Rhao."

((Don't worry about the lateness, i just hope you didn't bruise too badly! Sorry about the poor quality of this post... writer's block...))
Jess couldnt act, not convincingly anyway... but - coming across another that knew was a suprise to him in such a human area. Jess was more than taken aback, he was frightened, though he couldn't place finger on why.
He stared blankly at the man, not on purpose, not by far - so many thoughts churned in his mind. A hand was extended out to him, and he regained a sense of the present. "Oh - oh, uh I'm Jessamyn, Jess - Jessamyn Augustine." He shook the man's hand tightly, he wanted to know more... bigger wings...? Jess couldnt think of anything but 'dragon'? The hand was a little soggy, it must have been the ice.
"Rhao... this is hardly the place to talk about this..." Jess said, in a small voice. He hadn't let go of the hand, and was tugging it gently. Yes, there was an abundance of traffic, and a particularly loud busker nearby, but Jess had a nervous disposition in these situations - this didn't stop him from asking... he looked sharply in Rhao's eyes, "A Dragon?"
