It was three a.m. and she laid there in a hand drawn pentagram staring at the starry night sky. Why was in she laying in the middle of campus in the middle of a pentagram in the middle of the night? Because she could and she didn't tend to sleep much anyway. The pentagram was made a red stick liquid that just happened to look like blood. If anyone asked it was corn syrup and food coloring if it truly was would only be none by her. Unless a vampire came waltzing by, or someone tasted it. If they did she'd be thoroughly impressed.
The only sounds she heard was crickets, frogs, and the occasional drunk person yelling how they loved the world. If she listened hard enough she could hear the rest of New York but she tended to block it out when she was relaxing. Though there were times when the busy noises of the city soothed her like no other. Especially when she was in a bad neighborhood and she was lucky enough to hear someone get shot, or the screams from inside the run down buildings of hate. So much hate spilled onto those streets. It was like honey.
But that was for later, now was the time to take in the energies of the grass, trees, and random insects around her. Everything was her food and she inhaled the life energies into her filling her to the brim. Ever since she'd learned to feed like this she hardly ever fed from humans. She shivered at the thought of having to touch those vile creatures. Sighing she reached out over the dew laced grass to find her most beloved companion, Keket, an Egyptian Mau. Of course Keket wasn't the only cat in the area seeing as she somehow attracted the beasts. Surely it had nothing to do with the fact that she left cream, fish, mice, birds, and anything else a cat might fancy out for them. After a month of going to school there the cats followed her. They were the only creatures here that she felt any affection toward.
Pointing a finger toward her ipod, stuck in a device with speakers, she willed her molecules to shift to extend the finger enough to turn on the device. After picking a song and cranking it up she returned her finger to normal humanoid length. She might not look the part that went along with the type of person who liked such music but types meant nothing to her. She liked her clothes a certain way and her music another. Why they should mix only proved to annoy her. Simpletons.

"Blood?" He asked as he passed by looking at the girl. he looked at it some more he wasn't one for satinism hell the thought of a pentagram made made his blood boil but the song wasn't bad Nightwish was one of his favorites and seven days to the wolves was a good song too the two mixed was an...odd combination. "Bad symbol, Good song." He said as he looked at her. "Satanic?" He asked.
((No actually nightwish is one of my favorite bands. Although when I bring it up all I hear is how wonderful Tarja was and how I think her name is annettie the new one you know isn't as good. Anyways Seven days to the wolves was the first song I heard by them.))

Someone was speaking to her and the fact that they instantly knew that it was blood on the ground gained her interest. She rolled her eyes toward the source of the voice to find what appeared to be a man there staring at her. Sure she had somewhat expected someone to come by and talk to her. Maybe campus safety telling her she couldn't be there. But some random person asking about the blood was much better. The next word however made her roll her eyes.
"Just because it is a star in a circle made of blood does not make it Satanic." Sitting up she leaned back on her hands glaring at him. "The way I am laying indicates that the star is not upside down, thus not evil. The pentagram stands for many things in the occult. It can be used as a spiritual shield warning against evil spirits. And it displays that a person has the domination of the mind over the elements, and the demons of air, the spirits of fire, the phantoms of water and ghosts of earth are enchained by this sign. Equipped therewith, and suitably disposed, you may behold the infinite through the medium of that faculty which is like the soul’s eye, and you will be ministered unto by legions of angels and hosts of fiends."
Yes, she was talking a lot but she hated it when people jumped to conclusion just because it was a star in a circle. "Plus there is no goat head in this circle either. And if I had added an eye in the middle it would enhance the powers of protection, or that is what is written in the occult books."
She was done with her little lesson now so she laid back down staring at the sky. Keket stared at the male her eyes seeming to glow in the darkness before she climbed to sit on Bastetta's stomach continuing to stare. As she laid there another song started to play soothing her slight irritation. Thank goodness for music.

She was lucky she had good music the second song wasn't his favorite he preferred A Dangerous Mind instead of Angels. "Bullshit!" He said as he looked at her. "A shield, the way you lay, none of that crap matters!" He said with anger in his tone.
"The cross on the other hand, now that symbol is many things all of them good. He began to walk the circle of the pentagram. hmmmm note to self if going to start a fight with a demon then learn how to use blood kain first. He thought to himself.
"Your....how should I put this confident that this....symbol the very symbol that has done nothing but twist minds, take many forms, many other things. In the end however, it's the same meaning you can draw it anyway you like same thing, you can lay in it anyways you'd like, same thing."
He said as he stopped he looked at her, a flash took place and he saw Zytka laying in that pentagram but she was covered in blood and laying in a pool of blood as well. her eyes were rolled into the back of her head (almost) Shadow took in all this detail even though he only saw in for a brief second. He shook his head trying to forget the disturbing images.

His anger made her laugh out loud finding it rather pathetic that this being got so easily upset. And the fact that he refused to accept the other meanings only proved that he was ignorant, and most likely had something against the symbol. Not caring in the slightest she shifted to change the song when something happy rolled on. Grinning she maneuvered through her music on the ipod until she found Voodoo by Godsmack. It seemed to fit the mood quite nicely.
"Ooh, so feisty. " She purred glancing over at him wondering how much she could rile him up. "And so stupid too. The cross can be used in ways that are not good such as using them in ritualistic murders, which by the way has been done more times than you can probably count. And if you hang it upside down it is more of a satanic symbol than the one I'm laying in."
Lousy cross symbol ticked her off. It was a horridly painful way to die used by the Romans and was used for thousands of people not just the one fated man. Yes, it was a strong symbol for that religion but people forgot that its origins weren't all that shiny and good. People who didn't know their history bugged her probably because she'd lived through most of it.
"Want to say anything else to prove you know little to nothing?" She giggled tucking her arms behind her head. "I find it intriguing that you're more focused on the symbol and not the fact that it is made in blood. Do you even know what kind of blood? What if I committed murder?"
Her voice sounded so shocked and innocent not upset in the least by this man's little tiff about the symbol. It was simple he was a moron like all people from this plane.

"I care not that it's made of blood, So you murdered one, maybe two people? I've killed hundreds of people makes little difference on what that symbol is made of, However you are correct about the upside down cross I killed an entire cult because of that symbol. Why do I lust for blood I'm not a vampire!! AUGH GODDAMMIT!! He yelled mentally. His eyes stayed focused on the girl then he smiled and laughed a bit. "Shadow Chrestmire. You?" He asked

Was she supposed to be impressed that he'd killed so many people? Or afraid? What kind of being was he that he'd been alive long enough to kill that many people? Or maybe he used bombs. She hated bombs there were just so impersonal. Rolling her eyes she clicked her tongue and Keket leapt off of her going to the edge of the circle. As she got to her feet she glanced at him when he laughed.
"Veera Silving." She smiled as she produced a name for him. "So Shadow." Pausing she resisted the urge to start laughing at the name, either his parents were weird or it wasn't his real name. Though she had met people with really weird names in this world. "What are you?" Eyes narrowing but grin spreading she strolled toward her favorite feline who was staring intently at the man.

Shadow looked back and forth not sure what she was grinning about. "What am I, to be honest." He paused for a moment. "I don't know. Can't remember much really other then this odd lust for blood I don't understand it. I'm no vampire for I have no fangs." He shrugged "Your a demon though." He said, Shadow didn't mean that literally he meant it as an expression due to the pentagram.
"I'm just messin with ya I know, not funny just stupid things often come out of my mouth." He said always the stupid one as he was called, other then Shadow the Blood Edge.

He didn't know what he was? She rolled her eyes as she stalked over to her ipod set up and snatched it up. "Thirst for blood, puh, if you truly had a thirst for blood then wouldn't you have tried to get mine?" If he had tried he wouldn't have gotten very far seeing as her elite race didn't exactly bleed like other beings.
At the declaration of what she was she turned to him wondering if he truly new or if he was just calling her one like an insult. The next words clarified things and she let out a tittering laugh highly amused at how idiotic creatures were here. "Yes, they do." The moment Keket and herself stepped outside of the circle it vanished along with any metallic aroma that tended to come with blood.
"So you've supposedly killed thousands of people, yet you have no clue what you are? How old are you?" She tucked her ipod into her bag before turning to stare at him.

"That is something you do not want to know." He said as he kept his eyes locked on her. "I know myself only by the name I was given by an agent this name seems to be spreading. The rest isn't something I need to know or care about." Shadow said as he narrowed his eyes he could tell this was a bad idea but he did not care at the moment, right now all that mattered was coming out of this alive.
((sorry still having those after effects of being sick))

Cloak and dagger, dark and mysterious, strong silent type, whichever way you spun it the result was the same. The guy had a 'past' and believed that he was dangerous to everyone around him or something like that. Mortals and their idiotic beliefs. Rolling her eyes she hooked her bag onto the crook of her arm giving Keket a look before turning back to the guy.
"You don't know what you are. Don't know your age? And you don't care to know? That's different." Well, if he'd been a demon he would have known it because he would have needed to obtain life force. If he was a werewolf or dragon then he'd also have known that bit, the same goes for being a fae. So he was most likely a human unless he was a half breed. She didn't know all the rules for half breeds so he could be one of those. Not like it mattered to her he was just a random stranger who disrupted her peaceful time.
"You talk so cryptically, does that scare other people?" Quirking an evil grin she tucked a stray curl behind her ear. Keket meowed loudly curling and twisting around her legs as she watched the man.

"I don't know does it? He asked "I can see you take nothing seriously correct me if I'm wrong though." Ugh need to get my weapon. "Tell me you lay in the middle of a pentagram with some music and a cat you think no ones going to notice and think to themselves, What the hell is going on with her?" he asked. noticing the grin his eyes locked on to her not as a target but to lose sight of her would be bad...very bad for him.
Shadow's eyes darted to the cat then back to the girl. Whats with the cat? "So tell me whats with the grin you find something funny? Interesting? hmmm?" He kept his cool and was ready reminded of the words of his mentor spoke, however he did not take a stance.

Still grinning she took a few steps toward him Keket following beside her the feline's eyes seeming to glow. "I take plenty serious. But what I do and do not take serious are not really any of your concern now is it?" She purred the words dropping her arms to hang lose at her sides, and in doing so dropping the purse to the ground. Not everything she had and did was fake, but what was real or illusion he did not need to know.
"Oh, I'm sure that someone was bound to wonder what I was doing. But in this city not many people would ask, or approach me." She wasn't trying to sound intimidating she was merely stating that in this city many people kept to their own. If they saw a hobo crumpled on the street they'd simply walk by without a second glance without knowing whether the person was dead or merely asleep. "No one cares in this city. Everyone keeps to themselves. Or well, most people."
Lifting a hand to her mouth she grinned even more. "Oh, I do tend to be grinning an awful lot, don't I? Does that bother you? Is it a bad thing for a girl to find happiness?" Still stepping closer to him her eyes shifted to look exactly like the cat at her feet reflecting pinkish red in the moonlight. "Maybe you make me want to smile, ever think of that?" Oh, it was so much fun.

"Being happy and grinning with such evil in your eyes is two different things and there's only one way I've ever been able to make someone...." He winced in pain. Was this girl having some kind of effect of him? He knew she was playing mind games with him, toying with him, but for a second Zytka flashed through his mind.
He quickly got his focus back to the girl. "How could I be making you happy?"

"My eyes? Evil? Oh you wound me!" She placed on hand over her heart the other on her forehead in the throes of despair. "To have someone think such a wretched thing about me makes me want to weep!"
So she was definitely messing with him but it was far too much fun not to. When he winced she nearly clapped for joy she didn't know what she had done or reminded him of boy he wasn't happy about it. Oooh, she loved it when they winced. Maybe he could be more fun after all.
"You make me happy because you are fun to play with." Her voice was a sultry purr as she moved in close her eyes shifting from cat eyes to those of a viper. She felt her canines lengthen into fangs and her nails lengthen as well. "Will you play with me? It's so late and I'm so lonely."
The cat purred loudly dancing around her mistress's feet as Bastetta began circling the man.
