Pizza and fries and Coke on one tray. Salad and vegetarian pasta and unsweetened iced tea on the other.
Roxanne dipped her fries in exposed marinara sauce and popped it into her mouth. Chloe made a sound of disgust and stabbed lettuce and tomato with her fork. Her sister imitated the noise, and simultaneously the girls looked away from each other.
It was one of those days.
"That's going to go straight to your thighs. You'll have to spend all day working it off in the gym," Chloe complained, and Roxanne pointed a fry at the other girl.
"No, I won't. And you wouldn't either. We have excellent metabolisms. You should be taking advantage of it while you can." Roxanne ate her pointer fry and opened the can of soda loudly.
Chloe rolled her eyes. It was an old argument, and one they fell into whenever they had nothing interesting to comment on. Which meant they were having a slow week. Lunch time was usually when all their interesting chats happened, and it was kind of depressing they'd already resorted to squabbling. Chloe sighed and continued picking at her salad. Truth be told, she was really craving pizza, but she knew she shouldn't eat it because she'd feel bloated and disgusting later. Roxanne never seemed to have that problem, or if she did she never acknowledged it. It was a small envy of Chloe's, one she'd never voice aloud.
"So, Warren told his friends I kissed him on Monday, but that definitely didn't happen," Roxanne offered finally, and Chloe gratefully leaped on the conversation piece.
"What happened Monday?"
"Alex's party. Remember? You stayed in because you had a 'headache'," She reminded her sister, and Chloe nodded, remembering that she'd had a literary essay to do. "So we were all just hanging out, and Warren asked to talk alone, so we went for a walk. And that's all we did. I guess it was just a ruse for his friends."
"Are you going to do anything about it?" Chloe asked, stabbing a cube of cheese with a crouton now.
"Nah, I don't think so. Unless it gets really out of hand. What's one fictional kiss, hmm?" Roxanne was already done her fries and had moved onto the pizza. That pepperoni looked really good... She saw her sister eying the slice and laughed. She plucked off the desired toppings and dumped them in Chloe's formerly meatless pasta.
The gesture went unrecognized except for a smile, and the two fell back into companionable silence. Roxanne tended to her fries, and Chloe greedily consumed her modified bow-tie primavera.

Getting lost was something that the two of them were very good at. They were, however, eve better st squabbling while getting lost. Unfortunately, Azazel was all too quick to turn violent, and the usually pacifistic Rhoderick got a punch in te face if he went too far. Azazel would always apologize to Rhoderick, and Rhoderick would mutter something under his breath, and the red-head would give him a lollypop.
That was a continuous series of events that had been happening continuously for the past hundred or so years - neither of them quite remembered. Rhoderick felt rather bitter about it, but he could never really do or say anything to hurt his bubbly counterpart, he just didn't have the heart.
He was so jealous of his upbeat attitude, as opposed to his nonchalant or menlancholy disposition. How could someone who constantly had to put up with Derick be so happy!? It made no sense to him. Then again, Azazel lacked a little common sense, and most often lived in a world where the extraordinary could happen.
That wasn't the real world.
Azazel had bee the first to notice that they had wandered into some sort of manor or church grounds, but then realized that it was more like a university. They entered a bulding to see a large food-court kind-of-place. While Hee had gazed around a little Rhoderick had notice something.
Two somethings. Two rather attractive looking girls sitting at a table. He walked forward, despite his other half's complaints, and sat down in front of them, dragging Azazel with him.
"Hello, girls." He said in a rather neutral voice, portraying no intention. His intentions, however, were less than wholesome. In all fairness, although he was indeed very old, he didn't appear to be that old, possibly in his late twenties or somewhere in his thirties. But these two didn't look nearly that. They were too young for him, in reality.
Azazel, on the other hand had curled up in a seat next to Rhoderick, and blushed a deep red. He'd never been good talking to girls. Never ever ever ever ever. These two were no different. He just about skueaked a nervous "Sorry." Before glaring angrily at Rhoderick, who was shrugging.
Why did Rhoderick always have to do this!? He never got any girls and it always made Azazel end up in nervous awkward situations that might seem nice to anyone else but not for him! He DID like girls, and DIDN'T like guys, but, he believed in commitment! There wasn't really much he could do, when Rhoderick started. However miserable he was, Derick was very smooth, and could be sly as a fox. He barely ever got laid though.
The two looked nice enough, and Azazel felt that neither of them would stand for Derick's passes, and so he uncurled himself and smiled meakly.
"Ignore him. My brother's real stupid." Azazel said with a giggle.
If he had known that they had stumbled into a university of freaks, however, Azazel wouldn't be so... lught hearted. Neither would Rhoderick. In fact, they might have run as far away as they could. Which, in all fairness, was pretty far.

{Dude, it says 'open' }
"Uhm..." Chloe started, swallowing the bite of pepperoni primavera she'd started, "Hi?"
Two strangers coming to sit with the girls wasn't unusual, but it was uncalled for, as far as Chloe was concerned. Even if they hadn't been talking when Rhoderick sat down, it was a bit presumptuous of him to assume they weren't busy. Her eyes narrowed, and she opened her mouth to tell the man exactly what she thought. But of course Roxanne would interrupt.
"Hi! You guys between classes?" And hence, the conversation would start. Chloe pursed her lips together whilst Roxanne leaned forward, looking very approachable and engaging. As the man's self-proclaimed brother joined them and told them to ignore his companion, Chloe eagerly obeyed. She smiled when Azazel laughed with light, frivolous glee, and despite being across the table from him, decided to strike up a conversation of her own.
"I wouldn't want to talk to a stupid person then, thanks for the warning," Her lips and eyes advertised a genuine interest. These two looked like pretty crazy individuals, but together their differences seemed to cancel each other out. They were nearly normal. Nearly, because the bright-coloured hair and eye make-up were pretty exotic.
Neither of the girls felt an immediate attraction, at least not physically. But like fish drawn to a shiny lure, they were intrigued. Who were these boys and what made them tick? They were more than interested in figuring out what they were than scoring a date. Because let's be honest; these girls didn't have any difficulty scoring dates.

{OOC: Yeah, I know. It was my way of saying "MY THREAD, KEEP AWAY" xD}
Rhoderick threw Azazel a dirty look. The guy never gave him a break did he? All he wanted was a good time with a good-lookigng girl. Azazel said all these things about him, but he was the one that ended up scoring. What did Rhoderick have to do? Find a room not to far away and sulk while his other half did all the stuff HE wanted to do! However, the girl seemed interested enough, so he thought he might want to chat a bit.
Azazel found that the other one seemed to be like himself. She seemed to not be so eager to talk, and not be so eager to engage with the strange men. Maybe this time Rhoderick would get the girl and he'd be left alone. Though, ignoring her wouldn't get him very far either, so maybe he'd talk to her a little.
"It's ok," He said, smiling, "Derick will hit on anything that moves. Unfortunately, I have no way of stopping him, and I always get dragged into things." He furrowed his brow, and drew his knees up to his chest once more. "It's rather annoying." he said, with a tone of defeat. There wasn't really much he could do about it. But, it didn't really matter.
"I'm Derick, by the way." He said, holding out his hand to the girl in front of him. "And this is Azazel..." He said looking at the red-head with an averted gaze, before turning abck to Roxanne. "We don't go to University, or, school. We just happened to wander in here." He said, with a chuckle. "We WERE thinking of getting a bite, untill we saw you two lovely ladies." He said leaning forwards.
Azazel looked at Chloe with wide eyes, and then back at Derick, before looking at Chloe again. He made a gagging gesture. He was ashamed. Rhoderick was really intenet on bringing one of these girls back to the hotel room!
"Do those stupid lines ever work?" He asked Chloe - she'd be the one to ask, she WAS a girl. He suddenly remembered that and blushed a deep red to match his hair. "But at least he introduced us." He said smiling again, his pure voice chiming in the impure atmosphere of a food court sounded fairly unnatural. He shuddered slighty before un-folding his legs, withdrawing a handkercheif from the pocket of the suit he was wearing and blowing his nose slightly, and tucking it away again.
Derick looked at him before turning abck to Roxanne. She really was pretty, and he was glad he hadn't let Azazel pass her, and her sister, by. Though, he did know that Azazel had problems. Evidently, he was the part of "The Original" that preferred commitment to many one night stands. Rhoderick on the other hand, was most definantly not.

Roxanne rolled her eyes in an over-dramatic fashion for Rhoderick's benefit at Azazel's complaining. "Poor you, getting dragged along to talk to pretty girls." It might sound presumptuous of her to admit out loud that she believed her and her sister 'pretty', but modesty was never something Roxanne possessed. When Derick introduced himself, Roxanne shook his hand.
When Derick admitted that he and Azazel weren't students, Roxanne gave Chloe a pointed look. Chloe confirmed the silent question by shrugging quietly in response. She couldn't detect any Gifts from either of the brothers. They were human.
At Azazel's question, Chloe smirked. "Rarely. It takes a certain personality to pull it off," And when Azazel blushed, Chloe was delighted. It was usually Roxanne who got a kick out of intimidating men, reducing them to babbling, incoherent messes at her feet. But Chloe found pleasure in Azazel's pink cheeks not because she was slightly sadistic like her sister, but because the young man was endearing. Sure, perhaps a little feminine with his handkerchief, but still sweet.
"So you're not students, and you're not teachers. Tourists?" How weird would that be? Roxanne thought. This part of New York wasn't anywhere near any tourist attractions. These men didn't seem like the type to be deterred by the 'No Trespassing' signs on the campus grounds, though.

Rhoderick raised an eyebrow at Azazel and moved on. He wondered what he could actually say. He looked at Roxanne, and decided that he would inquire further about the place they were in. It seemed to be the best place to learn about these two.
"So, this is some kind of... food court? Is this a university?" These two certainly didn't look quite right for a colledge like this. How often did you get girls that looked like this in good looking colledges? Well, not many, he would have guessed. "What are you two studying here?" He asked, with a smile. For once he was actually a little interested what someone like Roxanne and her sister could be doing here.
Azazel cowered as Roxanne adressed him in a mocking tone. How could she take him that way!? He wasn't a bad man. He was shy. And... Not good with people. Roxanne intimidated him, much like Derick probably intimidated Chloe a little. It was strange that, in every couple like this, there was almost a steriotype. involved. The quiet one and the... well, the talkative one. But Chloe didn't seem as shy as he was. Just more like a shadow next to her sister, but at the same time very independant.
He giggled a little at Chloe's comment and sat upright, before picking up a salt container, and swirling the white stuff around for a few seconds, his eyes going crossed as he looked at it before setting it down, and having to concentrate to right his eyes. He looked down at the salt container, but somehow, it seemed to have dissapeared. There was only a pile of salt and some clear lookign grains. His eyes went wide before looking at Chloe.
"Did you do that?" he asked with wonder. Maybe Magic was real.
Rhoderick frowned at Roxanne's question. Tourists? Well, he supposed that they were, but tourist was such a crude word. he preferred... vagabound. That was a good word. he liked Vagabound.
"Not tourists exactly. We're more like vagabounds." He said, leaning ever so slightly closer and smiling. He really wanted this. And a part of him knew he'd get it. The other part screamed at him for going after girls that were so much younger than he was. in fact, that was most of him. He almost disliked the part that egged him on - how could he ever really succeed?
Azazel, however was rather enjoying himself. Apart from the intimidating girl, and the mystery of the missing salt decanter, and the fact that once again his sleeves seemed to be coming undone very quickly. He furrowed his brow and sneezed, making himself pull a stupid face, before laughing and shaking his head. He noticed that when he once again looked at them, his sleeves had returned to normal.
He'd HAVE to talk to Rhoderick about that. It REALLY can't have been good to not know about it and maybe he'd know.

Roxanne raised an eyebrow; was it that difficult to surmise what kind of area this was? Yes, it was a food court, hence the food, and yes it was a University, which would explain why she asked if they attended. Instead of dignifying Derick with a reply, she just offered a small smile before turning her attention to his brother. She wasn't sure if the two were twins, but Azazel acted very much like a younger sibling. He giggled shyly and acted very femininely, so she concluded privately that he was likely gay. Not that there was anything wrong with that, it just meant one less guy she'd be after.
Derick on the other hand, seemed infinitely more hetero, and fit the usual stereotype Roxanne chased after. He was certainly forward, and didn't seem like the brightest bulb. But the blue hair was a bit off-putting; Roxanne was used to dating very vanilla guys (basically guys that could appear in an Abercrombie ad and accurately claim they own the entire summer wardrobe). The only thing Derick's unusual appearance promised was quirk, and that was something Roxanne was very unaccustomed to, but actively searched for.
"I study music," Roxanne informed him, "among other things..." she preferred her combat lessons over her musical ones, but revealing such a class existed was a faux pas to a stranger of the University, "and Chloe studies history and literature." She gestured to her sister, who had a very perplexed expression on her face.
Chloe was distracted by Azazel's peculiar situation. What happened to the salt shaker? She blinked, "No, that wasn't me." She elbowed her sister, gently, and Roxanne raised an eyebrow, then turned back to Derick. Chloe however, was still puzzled. "Does that happen a lot around you?" She asked, wondering if perhaps he was newly acquiring a gift. That wouldn't make sense though - she'd have picked up whatever gift that was.
Unless he didn't know how to use his gift, and Chloe accidentally used it. Wouldn't that be interesting? The girl could usually feel her gifts switch; when she was with Roxanne, she was comfortable with Pyrokinesis, Telekinesis, and Forcefield Projection. She recognized those gifts and knew how to use them just as aptly as her sister. It was an obvious change to her system when someone interrupted those gifts with their own, and some gifts were getting easier to identify. It was hard to describe how - it wasn't like they had a different flavour. It was more how it made her body feel; which parts of her body were being used to produce each individual gift. It was like... someone blindfolding you, then putting on a glove; you knew there was a glove on your hand, and soon enough you'd figure out what kind of glove it was, what it could do. Or maybe they strapped a belt around your waist; you'd feel the belt sitting there, and eventually be able to adjust it to fit whatever purpose you wanted it for.
Whilst Chloe pondered the impossibilities of Azazel's nonexistent gift, Roxanne was still conversing with Rhoderick. "Vagabonds, hmm? So what's a pair of vagabonds doing in such a conformed society?"

Rhoderick raised an eyebrow at her question. He wasn't doing anything secret, so he thought that he might as well tell her what his and his brother's entire life plan, and life story, really, was.
"We ran out of money." Rhoderick explained, hurriedly. "And so we thought we'd steal some more. Or beg. Or work. Whichever seems easiest at any given time." He said, in a rather off-hand manner. "In a city as big as New York, the possibilities are endless. Usually we get lucky gambling, but lady luck seems to have deserted us this day." He said with a frown. "But, we don't really need to eat, or, even sleep, so we're generally fine." He laughed a little, a sly, devious sound, even if it was a little snide and melancholic.
Azazel, however was focusing raptly on Chloe. History and literature. He smiled wanly, his eyes lighting up a little.
"I love books." He said, with a simple smile. Azazel did love books a great deal. He didn't particularly care what they were about, he just enjoyed the feeling of cognising words. It turned out that Azazel didn't even know the titles of msot of the books he'd read, let alone what they were about. There were, of course, a few exeptions. But he was generally too high, or too drunk, or too something to talk to anyone about books, and Rhoderick hated them, because 90% of the time, they had happy endings.
Azazel once again tucked his legs against his chest, and was absently playing with a loose fibre in his jumper.
"Some weird things have been happening." He said, to no-one in particular. "And I don't like it. " He said, with all the firmness of a child stating an innocent opinion. RHoderick looked at him with a pained expression. He didn't particular care at that point in time. His only goal was; "Get the girl." He was happy as long as he did just that.
"So, you say you study music... and "other things"? I suppose you'd like to keep me in the dark about that." he said, sourly. "But, I msut ask, how exactly do you study music?" He asked, leaning a little closer.

Chloe and Roxanne exchanged a look. They didn't need telepathy to understand each other - it was kind of a twin thing. The moment Rhoderick mentioned stealing or begging for money, their alarm bells went off. Yeah, this wasn't the sort of company they frequented with.
Chloe bit her lip to keep from speaking her mind, and poked at her salad, staring with such concentration that it might've been a bomb she was trying to dismantle. Roxanne was the one that spoke, and her voice held a little bit of a chill.
"One studies music by attending their classes," Her eyes narrowed dangerously, "And I'm not opposed to telling you what these 'other things' are. I'm at the top of my hand-to-hand combat class," Well, she wasn't at the top, but Rhoderick didn't need to know that, "and I got straight A's in my law course," Roxanne didn't study law at all, "because I'm training to become a police officer."
Chloe shoved a forkful of lettuce in her mouth to keep from laughing out loud. Roxanne, the police officer. How absurd! But Roxanne didn't stop there.
"And seeing as how you two stand for everything I'm working to destroy, I suggest you leave this place before I report you." She was definitely giving off a dangerous vibe, and if Chloe didn't already know her sister was completely bullshitting, she might believe the intensity radiating from her.
Chloe swallowed her mouthful and nodded sagely at Azazel, having deduced he was the weaker of the two brothers, "I've seen her take down a guy three times her size. It was pretty scary." But she couldn't put enough oomph into her words, and reverted back to munching on the salad to keep herself from smiling. Roxanne gave her sister a sideways glance and raised her eyebrow. Chloe pressed her lips together and nodded.
Another one of those twin things. These guys wouldn't be the first they'd tried to get rid of, and Plan B was well rehearsed. Still, Chloe decided the two men should be given a chance to walk away before her and Roxanne stirred things up.

Rhoderick looked at her and laughed. It was the most natural, easy-going laugh in the world, and his face practically lit up. That was what made it sound unnatural to Azazel, who looked down once more, toying with his sleeves. To anyone else, and especially to these two, who had known them for a relatively short time, it would seem perfectly natural and reasonable.
"When I say stealing, I mean lawyering." Rhoderick chuckled. As soon as the word "police" had been heard, he took immediate action, and he already had a cover set up. Azazel was too dopey to deal with that stuff, but Rhoderick liked to live in the real world. They did not want to go back to jail. The food had been terrible, and people kept trying to beat them up. But the two boys, for really, they were little more than over grown boys, had learned long ago that they were pretty immune to pain. Azazel had recently pieced that together, and realized that they were immortal. It had taken him nearly a hundred years to do so, but he had definitely worked it out.
"The same with begging. It's a little in-joke our family have." Azazel added, eagerly. Rhoderick smiled some more.
"I'm a pacifist anyway." Rhoderick continued. "I send people to jail to get beat up, instead of doing it myself." He said, wistfully. All of this was a total lie. Azazel and Rhoderick had always been thieves, and nothing was going to change that, not even this encounter. However, he was starting to re-consider trying to get this woman into bed with him. Police-people scared them both witless, and it was all he could do to keep his cool.
"If you wanted to fight Rhoderick, you'd have to fight me, too." Said Azazel. "And, not many people like doing that." He grinned. It was a grin that showed a somewhat scary vacancy behind those dark eyes. He noticed that once more, his sleeves had unravelled almost up t his shoulders, and he looked in curious wonder at the material. It was almost like the fabric had rotted away, and fallen apart. Very strange.
Rhoderick looked at Azazel with a look on his face as if to say; "Nice one, show off." Before looking at Chloe and then Roxanne. One thing he hadn't thought through, was explaining why he had said they were vagabounds. He'd have to do some fast talking to get out of this one.
"A couple of years ago, after taking on a few bad cases for our firm in Chicago, we managed to send a gang to jail. Rather, half the gang. When someone turns up at your house with a crowbar and a hand grenade, you realize it's time to split." He said almost sardonically. He desperately wanted to shift the conversation in a new direction. If she really was a police officer, she might want to know more, and that would be bad joo-joo.
Azazel, who had simply been watching Rhoderick talk, and watch Chloe eat lettuce, felt the same need to give the conversation in a different direction. Not that he was entirely bothered - Roxanne could bother and threaten and whatnot all she liked, but he knew that Rhoderick could fast-talk out of anything. He liked his brother that way. He was more slippery than a haggling merchant.
"I think..." he said slowly, trying to sound intelligent. However, he knew full well that he wasn't all that bright. "What my brother meant was, what do you do in class?" Azazel didn't know much about any classes at all, so he was just going to guess. "Do you just look at music on paper and see how it works?" He asked, tugging he newly-incarnated sleeve. He rolled it up out of the way hurriedly, revealing his moderately skinny white arms.

Oh, they were involved with the gangs of Chicago. Fabulous. Not only did they likely have a price on their heads, but one of them was slowly giving them a strip-tease.
Chloe was unnerved by Azazel's sudden moodswing - from happy and carefree to almost bloodthirsty warrior. That was rather shocking, but Chloe wasn't all that demure herself. She put down her fork and braced herself, emitting a small, invisible force field around her and her sister. Roxanne was a little too peeved to be thinking defensively.
"That's awful," She didn't sound very sorry for them at all. And she didn't sound like she wanted to continue the conversation about studying music either. "But gee, look at the time. We've got to get to our classes. Be advised that this place doesn't look kindly on trespassers. I'm not even sure how you got in here. I hope you enjoy your vacation or visit or life or whatever." Chloe winced at how bitchy her sister sounded, but she understood the girl's desire to get away. These were clearly not the people they wanted to get involved in, not when they were hoping to open a business together soon. Associating with anyone that could drag them down was NOT the best idea.
So the girls hurriedly packed up their things, and Chloe offered a softening apologetic glance, hoping they wouldn't feel like hunting them down for a better explanation. Roxanne could get a little... fiery when provoked, and neither of the girls wanted to be charged with damaging school property, no matter how justified they might be. Roxanne tossed the remainder of her lunch in the garbage whilst Chloe tucked some hair behind her ear.
"Um... have a good day," She bade them, slinging her backpack over her shoulder. She brought her salad with her, not quite finished.
"Not cool," Roxanne muttered darkly as they walked away. Chloe just nodded, not quite sure what to make of the strangers. They probably should be reported - they wouldn't be too difficult to spot in a crowd.
"Thanks for not just... blasting them," She murmured back, still thinking about Azazel and his mysterious sleeves. Roxanne was thinking about how unpleasant it would be to find a man with a crowbar and grenade waiting outside her dorm room.

Rhoderick looked like he was on the verge of going after them, his face torn and almost angry. He sat down, uttering several choice oaths that made Azazel's skin turn even whiter. He simply looked at his brother and at the two slowly retreating girls. He concentrated mostly on Chloe. She seemed to actually feel a little sorry for them, unlike Roxanne. He made a special point of deliberately getting in a fight with her next time they met - if only to make up for upsetting Rhoderick so much. The man beside him was almost in tears, and he placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. Azazel gave a faint smile, and a little nod to Chloe, and flipped Roxanne off when her back was turned.
"We ruined everything." Said Rhoderick. He was feeling absolutely destroyed.
"There'll be other girls." Azazel suggested lightly.
"Maybe for you. She seemed interested. I blew it." he said, bitterly. Azazel felt his heart surge for his "brother".
"You know, Rhoderick, I couldn't manage without you." He said, hugging his heterosexual life partner. "I'm absolutely hopeless, and I really, really want a spliff right now." He said, absently rolling one as he spoke.
"Actually, a spliff and a pint sounds about right at the moment." Rhoderick said, resignedly. Azazel laughed.
"That's the spirit." He said, laughing. He shoved the joint on Rhoderick's mouth, and lit it for him. "I bet they were lying anyways." He joked softly. "I bet she was really just a broad." He looked at them, still walking away. "A really expensive broad!" He shouted after them, giggling. Rhoderick stared glumly.
"Oh, and my sleeves, I've been meaning to ask you!" Said Azazel, his eyes alight.

Roxanne stiffened when she heard Azazel's announcement. She spun around, but Chloe held her sister's arm. She recognized that fire, that absolute loathing. Roxanne usually only reserved that look for men that had the nerve to cheat on her.
"Let it go, Roxy," Chloe tried her best to calm the girl. Roxanne's eyes narrowed, and there was nothing Chloe could do. The joint Rhoderick sucked on ignited, bursting into a writhing fit of flames. Chloe spun her sister around so quickly that the girl nearly stumbled over her own feet, and marched her out of the hallway. "You didn't have to do that!" She scolded. Roxanne glared.
"They didn't have to call me that. I hate how there are so many offensive words for a woman, and there's only so little you can insult a man with. Think he got the message?" She wanted to peek back into the cafeteria, but Chloe was resilient.
"Yes, I think he got it. Now let's get out of here before they decide to bring all their gang friends after us."
Roxanne hesitated, very much wanting to set them both on fire, but she eventually recognized the wisdom behind Chloe's words. With a dramatic sigh, she set off down the hall, and Chloe hurried after.
"Fucking assholes," She growled, and Chloe couldn't help but agree.
