At first she only half paid attention not really caring what he'd had to do with Rae. Though a part of her was thinking that maybe, just maybe, Rae had had an influence other than friendly advice on Locke. But that was silly jealously burning. Especially since a part of her was pretty sure that Rae was not at all interested in boys. The more Locke talked the more Kiri started paying attention in complete awe that Rae had had such a momentous part in her relationship with Locke.
Bowing her head once more she reached out to let a butterfly crawl onto her hand. Here she was thinking she might actually disliked the rock star when she nearly owed her relationship to the girl. Though she believed that if love was meant to be then no force in the world was going to stop it. So even if Rae hadn't been there to help move along Locke then they'd still be here today. Or well, she hoped that they would be not that it really mattered. They were there together and that's all that mattered.
After he was done telling his story about how much Rae and him had interacted and influenced each other she sighed. Lifting her hand into the air the butterfly fluttered away before she started talking. "I didn't know she'd done so much. I also didn't know that you too knew each other so well."
She sounded almost forlorn to know that she didn't know something so important about Locke. But also it made her think about all the other things she might not know about Locke. Did they know a lot about each other? Did they know anything? Lowering her hand she turned with a smile to him. So she didn't know everything about him that meant that she could learn more. It would keep their relationship alive. If they knew everything about each other what would make the sparks? What would keep it interesting? So though it made her partly sad it was good to know a knew thing.
"Well, I'll have to meet this war dragon friend of yours along with Rae. We could even double date!" That sounded more like her regular self, and she beamed at him clapping her hands at the exclamation to double date. It did sound fun even if she was a bit worried about being around Rae. "We could go to a cafe, or see the sites of New York!"
Off she went rambling off things they could do, see, and genuinely sounded excited. Part of her was, and part of her felt hesitant she didn't know why but it was there all the same.

"No, I don't really know her that well. Aside from that meeting, we haven't really talked much. Keep in mind, she's a famous singer, she went on a tour after that. She only just got back." When Kiri suggested a double date, Locke had to laugh.
"Oh Kiri...I don't think that would work out very well." He said, his smile broadening. "Eve and Rae have much more...active tastes then the two of us. They'd enjoy a quite trip around town about as much as you would enjoy one of Rae's concerts, in other words, not at all. But that's not bad, right? Even friends can have different tastes. I mean, look at us when you need an example of that. A calculating man of science and an immortal flower child. Who would have predicted that?" He smiled at her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and pulling her closer to him.
"But I don't care how odd it looks, it feels right to me. But..."
He paused for a moment. "You were right, finding a nice Cafe or something seems nice. I imagine that Central Park or the Botanical Gardens would have some nice outdoor places to eat."
The idea of an indoor restaurant or a place deep in the city was not even considered. Locke knew her, she'd pretend to like it, but she'd despise it. So he wouldn't put her in that situation.
"Oh wait!" Locke said, snapping his fingers. "I'm not sure about the places around here, but my family lives a bit more into the rural areas. I am sure we can find some really nice outdoor places around there when you come for the summer."
Such a brilliant idea, and summer was rapidly approaching.

As he started talking she fell silent but in her mind she was going though all sorts of places the four of them could go. Then she thought that if Locke and Rae were so close then she should try to get close to Rae as well, even if she didn’t much care for the girl and was frightened of her. If it was important to Locke then she would try her best to befriend the older girl, and anyone else he wanted. Anything for him, she’d fly to catch a falling star for him if he asked it, though she wasn’t quite sure if a person, even a fairy, could do that. But she’d at least try.
The conversation was drifting away from Rae and he started talking about how odd it was for them to be together. She grinned loving being so close to him and listening to him. She loved it even more when he said it just felt right to him because it felt perfect to her. It was like two halves a circle had found each other. When he’d drifted off with a but her smile faltered a bit wondering where he was going with it. Then he returned to talking about double dating but she really wanted to know where that but was going to. And unlike the old Kiri she pushed it.
“But what? Is there something bothering you about our relationship? If there is…that’s okay. We can try to fix it? Or if it’s something I’ve done then I’ll change.” At first she was hesitant but by the end she was smiling and chipper happy to change if it meant he was happy. She loved him and wanted him happy above all else.
“A café? Gardens? Sounds lovely!” Giggling a bit she smiled up at him excited to go on a date with him and in Central Park no less! It sounded very romantic even if it did include Rae. “I think a dinner at sunset in Central Park sounds romantic, but that’s up to everyone else.”
Jumping a bit at his exclamation she gazed up at him not sure where his family lived had anything to do with a date. When he got to the part about summer however it clicked in her mind. He was thinking about her and being outside. The light that shone in her eyes so often when she was around him came forth once again as she gazed lovingly up at him.
“You have got to be the most amazing boy friend on the face of this earth. You don’t have to fret so much about me being outside. If I need a little get away to some nature I’ll take a day trip. That’ll give you some down time with you family too.” She nuzzled up to his chest smothering a giggle at the odd feeling of being able to do that now. He’d gotten so tall, so handsome, and so strong. “Love you, Locke.”
She whispered her hands on his chest as she listened to his heart beat. Even if there was something wrong with their relationship they could find a way through it. Love could do anything.

Locke smiled, holding her there as he smiled won at her. "Ah, and I know you would be more then happy to give me space if I asked, but that's just it. I don't want you to go away so I can do other things, I want to find things we can do together and both enjoy them." He ran one of his hands through her long, golden hair, simple cherishing the feeling of it through his fingers, and her pressed against him. If it were up to him, he'd just stay here for the rest of the day.
"Love you my beloved Kiri." He responded to her, his eyes drifting closed as he entered a kind of haze. The world seemed to melt away, and all that was left was the tow of them, held against each other.
Could it get any better then this?
