Locke grinned sheepishly. "Oh of course you could meet her! I daresay you would be expected." His look of embarrassment was very obvious, as he started to explain. "You remember when we went out to lunch at that Cafe once? You met Star, my father's pet falcon. Well, that bird has a bit of a big beak, so my parents already know about you. They've told me I should...bring you home...if you want to of course." he added, not really able to meet her gaze. He reached down and picked up the small box on the floor, moving it carefully so that the papers did not spill out. What value did this have now? It was a memory of the girl when she was not here, but now she was, so what purpose did it serve?
When she spoke about precious possessions though, he knew why he had to keep these letters. Something that kept them going in times of stress and pain. He wondered what sort of training she'd been doing, but decided that it was not important. She was here now, what else could be of any value?
He turned to her, realizing that he had been quiet. "It sounds like quite the ordeal, but you know you didn't have to do that for me. I'm just happy to see your smiling face again." That was the truth, that smile could make him climb mountains.
They'd only been talking for a few minutes, why did it feel like an eternity of paradise by her side. As if to say so, her wrapped his arm around her again and pulled her close.
Maybe they didn't need to go any further then this, just staying in his room talking quietly and cuddling. He wouldn't mind it.

When he fell silent she jumped into the silence to reassure him that she indeed wanted to meet his family. "I remember him he was gorgeous! And I'm glad your parents know about me because my mother surely got sick of me talking about you all the time." She giggled blushing a little bit more. Shifting a bit she dropped her hand from the necklace she started to fiddle with her dress skirt instead. "To meet your family would be lovely, and I hope someday you'll meet my mother."
Though to convince her mother to come out of hiding seemed near impossible. She was still in the mindset that there was an evil Queen ruling the fae court and if she came out of hiding she'd be killed. Kiri didn't exactly know why someone would want to kill her mother, but she didn't know much about her mother's past or her family. To have a family life like Locke's made her a bit envious, but she was also very happy for him. Her family was the animals in the forest and the person closest to her heart was sitting beside her. So she didn't need anything else. Blinking she came out of her daze and smiled up at him once more.
"Don't worry about it, it was something that I needed to do. Besides I found my mother again, and that is very important to me as well." She snuggled into his arm with a happy sigh. "It feels like forever since I've seen you. How I've missed seeing your smile, hear your voice." Feel your warmth next to me.
What to do now? There was certainly many things to talk about to catch up on, but they had all the time in the world to do that. Maybe it was okay to just sit there beside each other and enjoy the moment. They might not have many moments like this in their lives so instead of finding something to ramble on about like she used to do she stayed silent. Slipping an arm around his waist she took a deep breath taking in the smell of books, and his slightly musky scent that every male seemed to have their own kind of. She was finally getting warm and she was so happy that her eyes started to drift close. But not wanting to miss this moment she shook her head slightly to keep herself awake.
"Locke? I don't think I've said it since I arrived but I want to say it now." She lifted her head turning suddenly shiny watery eyes to him. "I love you, Locke. And I never want to leave you again."

Locke smiled, so she wanted to see his family. That was good, but then his dad would never let it die. Ah well, some sacrifices were worth it, and he just sat there listening to the sound of her breathing. She mentioned how she missed him, how she wanted to return, and then it got quiet.
And it was only quiet for a brief moment before she broke the silence with a word. The word Locke was never really able to say, or if he could it always drove him insane. The one word that meant more then anything else.
Love
"K-Kiri..." He said, looking at the beauty before him. That she said that, even now after so long. "I've always had a hard time saying that word, because of what it means. But..."
He smiled at her lovingly. "To the most important person in the world to me, there is no better word. Kiri Honeywater, I love you. And I never want to be away from you again."
He pressed his lips to hers again, he was just so intoxicated by her right now.
For the first time, he was really sure of it. Love, this is love...I've found...my love.
This time he did not pull away immediately, instead allowing their lips to remain connected in the passionate kiss.

She was about to interject that he didn't have to say the word if he didn't want to. If it was hard for him to say it then there was no need to pressure him to say it. Just because she was ready to say it didn't mean he had to be. Her heart really wanted him to say it but she also wanted him to say it when he meant it. Just as she was about to speak she heard those words and her eyes filled with the love and emotions that were inside her. She didn't get a goofy smile she just sat there staring at him in complete bliss.
The bliss didn't end it simply morphed into a different type of bliss. His lips met hers and her mind took a holiday. Leaning upward into the kiss her eyes drifted close once more. This was what she'd been missing this is what she'd left behind. She felt her fae magic flow through her veins as her emotions let lose. Nothing could make her happier at this moment. To have him in her arms, his lips on hers, and love between them. She was never going to leave him on her own will ever again.
Not to be the first one to pull away she lifted a hand to rest against his cheek. Words were not necessary now. The key words have been said and now their lips were doing a different type of talking. She smiled into the kiss but didn't pull away. Suddenly being cold was far from her mind and any kind of sadness was non-existant. She'd found paradise in his arms and it would be a cold day in the dark abyss before she left it again.

Locke allowed himself to be swept away by the feeling of her lips on his, by the feeling of her hand on his cheek. He placed his hands on her back, holding her tightly as if she might melt away if he let her go. Their lips continued saying what words could never convey, as he lost himself in the sweet sensation.
When finally they parted, Locke was breathless. He looked down lovingly at the girl he'd given his heart to, and he sighed happily.
"Kiri..." Hu mumbled, trying to formulate something more meaningful to say. "I've never...meant anything more...I love you so much." This time he was content to pull the girls head onto his shoulder as he held her close.
His happiness was beyond words. "This is like something out of a dream...just too good to be true..."

Breathless she leaned back a bit dizzy from the lack of air. Her eyes remained shut for a moment trying to regain a logical thought process. Everything felt like it had turned to goo as though she were going to melt into the floor. His words soothed her racing heart as she rested her head on his shoulder. "You mean everything to me too, Locke. You're very special to me, and I love you more than I've loved anyone before."
Turning her head to gaze up at him she smiled warmly. "So what do you want to do today? If you have classes I can wait till you're out of school. But if you don't I'd like to spend the day together if that's alright." One arm stayed around his waist while the other rested against his chest. She loved feeling his heart beat against her hand so steady and sure. Filled with love for her too.
She shifted curling up her legs to cuddle up against him better. Her bare feet tucked beneath her as she settled in for a good long cuddle. "You know...I used to think that I'd never see you again. That I'd try to find you and only find a letter telling me to not bother. Or I'd never find the school again." The words were soft her voice low no longer wanting anything of any real volume. Those days when she had awoken with such nightmares left her feeling empty for the rest of the day.
"To be here with you again to hear those words, to feel your warmth. It's like a fairy tale, mixed with a dream, and a wish all come true." She rubbed her head against him her eyes still not opened. All the while she was sealing this memory in her mind never to let it go. She'd been told about relationships with all sorts of problems, and how people get their hearts broken all the time. But she'd never had that, never experienced that. Sometimes she wondered if she was going against the flowing of the universe by being too happy. But at that moment she just didn't care.

Locke snuggled back, letting the girl curl up against him. He didn't have class today, which normally would have been time for working on his inventions, but now he had something better to do. He allowed his own eyes to drift close, letting his other sense absorb the feeling of her.
"I'll admit, I thought it was a dream now and again. It was so fleeting, and everything just up and vanished away so quickly. But it's true what they say 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder', because I've never felt so happy to see you before." He kept himself close to her, content to allow the moment to wash over them.
However, life tends to rob us of these moments we call peace, and Locke's ears perked up at the sound of motion in the hallway. It sounded like people were getting up for the day, which would mean...that's right, it was early.
"Hey Kiri." He said into her ear. "I'm going to spend the day with you, that would be lovely. But how about we get something to eat first?" He said with a little chuckle. "After all, I didn't expect to get an angelic visitation this morning. I'm sure nobody will mind a former student coming down to eat in the dining hall. Besides, you must be hungry yourself."
Ok, it wasn't a romantic conversation, but there was no harm in being practical. As tempting as starving here cuddling with her was.

Listening to him speak all snuggled up and warm with her eyes closed she started to nod off yet again. It was so early and though she usually started off the day early this once she felt like sleeping more. It was like her worries were fading away now that they were finally together again. The noises outside didn't even stir her and his voice only proved to lull her to sleep even more. It was like having a big teddy bear to hug, or cuddling with her favorite animal. But only better because it was Locke.
When he chuckled he shook just enough for her to pull out of sleep enough to realize he was talking to her. Yes, he'd been talking to her before but this was more directed at her from the sounds of it. Like a question or something. Blinking slowly she finally held them open and sounds started flowing into her ears. People were starting to wake up, move about, and she was pretty sure that Locke was talking about food. She shifted making a little groan when she stretched before lifting her head to look up at him sleepily.
"Food? Hmm, okay. Sounds good." Her diet for the last few weeks consisted of nuts, berries, wild vegetables, and edible flowers. Some grains sounded amazing right then and pancakes! Oh that sounded divine. Her stomach suddenly decided to wake up as well and it growled loudly. "Heh, yeah food sounds good."
She was glad that he was able to spend the day with her. What to do was that day was still in the foggy area but that was alright. They could just sit and talk or not talk at all it didn't matter to her. As long as they were together again. Maybe they could take a walk it looked like it was going to be a good day to do it. Or they could go back to that cafe-wait no. That cafe was in a different part of the country. Well, they could always find someplace else to go to. Or do nothing.
Standing she stretched once more with a content smile in place. "I'll wait in the hall while you get out of your pjs." She grinned on the brink of giggling before skipping off toward the door. Before leaving she turned around to smile at him again then hurried out the door. Today was going to be a marvelous day.

Locke chuckled a bit more when her heard Kiri's stomach rumble. So he was correct in that assumption. "Yeah, I'll meet you down the-" He started to say as she bound for the door, and it wasn't until she'd crossed the threshold that he made a startling realization.
Kiri had just come skipping out of his bed room. In the morning! Oh god the rumor mills would be going into overdrive on this one. Sighing as the door closed behind here, Locke placed his head in his palm. He was still smiling though, finding it more amusing then aggravating. Maybe that would get the girls off of his back for a little bit.
After a moment or two Locke left the room, to find the hall of the boys dorms filled with his classmates, whispering and chatting excitedly. When they took notice of Locke, they began to make it look like they weren't looking at him. One of them, an upper classmen came up to him and patted him on the back with a wide grin, before moving on wordlessly.
Entering the common area was even worse, as all eyes were either on himself or Kiri. There was either a look of jealousy, amazement or smugness. Word spread just as fast as he remembered, and the look of what had happened in that room was probably blown way out of proportion.
After all, she didn't enter that room this morning, so how could she have come out of it in the morning if she wasn't there all night? A logical assumption, Locke would have to admit.
So he moved over to Kiri, ignoring the burning eyes upon him. "Shall we go my dear?" He invited, offering his hand to her.

The second she bounced out of his room she realized something very bad. She had just left a boy's room in the early morning hours in the boy's dorm. Eyes wide she met almost a dozen male faces staring at her in surprise. Her face paled then turned into a strawberry in record time making her feel quite dizzy. Taking a deep breath she made fists of her hands and stood waiting by Locke's door staring at the floor. She could feel eyes on her and could hear the whispers, and she was doing her best not to explode. Nothing had gone on between her and Locke, but it wasn't like it was any of their business either.
At the sound of Locke's bedroom door opening she jerked her head up with a forced smile. When the older boy came up to pat Locke on the back her look turned venomous. Locke was just going along with this? He wasn't saying that it was nothing? Yes, that could just cause more laughing, jeering, and they probably wouldn't buy it. But the least he could do it say something! When Locke came over to her she stared at him for a moment trying to decide if she was going to stay mad or not. Her hands on gone to rest on her hips and her barefoot had started tapping. If only her mother could see her now.
"Yes, let's go. I want pancakes and I'm going to use a gallon of syrup." Turning on her heel sharply she started out of the room giving any smiling, whispering boy a look that would wilt an entire garden of flowers. Sometimes it was useful to be a girl, useful to be a fairy, and even more useful to have the mindset that she could and would back her look. If a boy dared to whistle at her and say something obscene she was going to have centipedes fill his bed.
Reaching the door to leave the boy's dorm she stopped turned to face Locke and smiled at him. Then she held out her hand finally having ignored his previous offered hand. "Okay, I'm not going to be mad anymore. It was my fault for leaving your room like I did. Let's get some yummy breakfast!"

Locke wasn't bothered by the boys being...well boys. Nor was he bothered by the rumors that would be flying around. What he was bothered by was the highly annoyed Fairy in front of him, that had refused his hand and spun out, looking downright murderous. She was not the weak girl she once was, that much was obvious. And Locke wasn't sure what exactly he had done, but he knew that he'd done wrong in her eyes.
"H-Hey!" He called after her, using his larger strides to close the distance quickly. When she announced that she wasn't angry anymore and held out her hand, Locke took it in both of his for a brief moment. "I'm sorry, for whatever I did. I'm not quite sure yet, but I'll fix whatever it is that made you upset, I promise." He met her gaze with a smile again, he hoped it would be enough.
He turned to glare at the other men in the hallway, certain it was something they had said. "And I am sure some children will learn to keep their mouths shut." He spat at the other boys gathered in the hallway, some of which backed away rather afraid.
Locke turned to Kiri, and gestured to the door. "Shall we go?"

She covered his two hands with her free hand sighing before smiling at him. "It's nothing just me being a silly girl. How bout we go to breakfast and try to forget my stupidity, hmm?" Turning to leave she stopped when he'd turned to basically reprimand the other boy's in the room. That made her smile even more and as soon as possible she planned on pecking him on the cheek. Not in front of the hormone plagued boys around them that was for sure.
Her eyes beamed at him when he turned back to her and she nodded in response to his question. Opening the door she happily left the boy's dorm knowing that he rumor would spread like wild fire. For once she was glad that she didn't go to the school anymore, and most likely never return. School just was not her thing. She was also glad that she had come on a day where there weren't any classes so not many people were up so early. Though the rumor would still spread from the few boys that saw her leave the room. Why couldn't she have just left through the way she'd entered?
Not wanting to dwell on something that was bound to upset her again she decided to change the subject. "So have you invented anything new lately? Read any really good books? How old is your baby sister? How is your family? Make any new friends?"
There at least one of those questions had to spur a topic they could talk about, and get their minds off of her tremendous blunder. Also it would mean that she got to hear more about Locke and how he'd been since she'd been gone. Sure they had sent letters but it wasn't the same, and she was sure he'd left plenty out of the letters. Just as she had left things out on her end as well.

Locke frowned at Kiri calling herself stupid, and actually reprimanded her. "Hey now, don't you say that. I don't care if you have no book knowledge and never go to school, you are not dumb. I'd bet nobody in this school know more about the animals around here, or animals in general then you do. You shouldn't put yourself down so much." He guided her down the hallways, not paying attention to the people passing them quick glances.
At her query about inventions he snapped his fingers though, he had made one! Though it was still incomplete.
"Oh yeah! I did manage to make something, it's only a prototype...er I mean it's not quite done yet." Locke needed to remind himself to not use such big words around her. "But yeah, watch this." He pulled the small silver chain out from underneath his shift, allowing a small silver cross to become visible. "It's so that nobody asks questions about it." He explained. "It's not uncommon for people to wear something like this. Anyway...." He slowly raised his finger, which began crackling with a small amount of current. He grinned at her. "Watch closely now..." And he touched it to the pendant. The small arcing caused a bit of a light flash, though nothing blinding. But Kiri would notice that, almost instantly, Locke's ears and tail went missing.
"Pretty cool isn't it? Once I perfect it I'll be able to go into the baseline world without worry. Oh and don't worry, they are still there." Locke said, and as if to prove it bent down so she could reach to feel for the ears if she so desired, even though his looked human now.

She just kept on walking as Locke lectured her about downing herself. There were things she knew and there things she didn't, and the things she didn't know tended to out number the things she did. That usually constituted in someone not being all that bright. Most times, days, what have you she didn't even care that she didn't know things. A vast majority of her conversations were held with animals so she didn't have to know human like knowledge. But when she was around humans, gifted, or well people she tended to feel a bit inadequate. She didn't mind it too much because well she just wasn't around people that much so it didn't really matter.
After the stream of questions she saw the light seem to click on in Locke's mind when she mentioned inventions. Listening intently as they walked along she smiled at him as he enthusiastically described his new invention. To see him so worked up about something he enjoyed doing did her heart good. She stopped moving and watched his finger spark then lifted a hand to shield from the somewhat bright light. When she lowered her hand she was face to face with what looked like a regular ole teenage boy. Her eyes went wide going right to where his ears had been then ran around him to find no tail. Returning to stand in front of him he lowered himself for her to feel his head, but she was almost afraid to touch him.
"My magic might throw it off. What if that doohickie breaks?" She lifted her head hesitantly but couldn't bring herself to rub his head. Though she loved to feel his ears she could bring herself to do it. "I...I don't think I like it. I mean I understand wanting to go out in public with no worries, but I still like you the way you are."
Dropping her hand she gave him a serious somewhat sad look then turned her blue eyes back up at his head. His head almost looked empty on top now that the ears weren't there. What if he got so used to wearing the necklace thingy that he never took it off? Would she never see his adorable ears ever again? It was a part of who he was why must he hide it? Did she hide her pointed ears? No, she liked her ears, just like she liked his. Rubbing her thumb she turned to glance down the hall spotting one or two people staring at the once cat eared boy.
"You'll be able to blend in just like you always wanted...huh." But if he stood beside her he wouldn't be able to do that. Not with her unnatural bright gold hair, and pointed fae ears and odd attire. She looked the part of the wild child that she played. Not normal, not someone who could just blend into the crowd. If that's what he wanted then maybe, maybe she should change too.

Locke was slightly disappointed when Kiri showed her dislike with the invention. "Oh it's ok, I don't use it around here. But I decided, I wanted to be able to see the city. The place where all the baselines live. With these, the Academy would never let me get close. It sort of...felt like being trapped in a cage. I could never go further then the Academy's little sanctioned 'Safe Areas'...but now I can actually see the world like this." He smiled brightly. "And hey!" He said, wheeling around her so he was in front of her again. "I only use it when I have to, it feels like I am looking at a stranger when I look into a mirror..." He tapped the cross again, and with a quick pop, the ears and tail became fully visible again. "Besides, think of all the places we can go now? I mean, I know you wouldn't like the city because of how little nature it has, but there are plenty of places around here if you go far enough. Maybe north some, I hear upstate has some nice forests and mountain areas. Little towns nestled in the valleys. Places I can visit because my very appearance won't cause the Academy's 'Cover up' squad to fly down on me. "
He grinned slightly. "I remember, once when I was really little, I'd always wondered why there were always Agents in our neighborhood. I'd always been told they were to keep us safe, truth was they were to make sure I didn't run out and cause a panic. But now...I can actually see the entire world, any place I want to. I mean, imagine if you'd been stuck in the Labyrinth for hundreds of years, and one day you finally got out. You could visit the entire world, any place you wanted to go that had been locked off to you before."
Locke was trying hard to contain his excitement. "I didn't make it because I wanted to change how I look. I mean, I did think that way a long time ago but...I'm not the only one now. If I start treating my looks like a curse, like it is something wrong, then what is Ally going to think?" He looked a little distracted for a moment. "I don't want her to feel that something about her isn't right..."
He smiled back at Kiri, trying to restore warmth to the conversation. "Besides, what reason would I have to hide myself around you? You've always been able to see all that I am."
