Jasper stood at the corner of a small road. It was one of those roads that sucked to be on during rush hour, but absolutely lovely to be on at night. There were harldy any cars at night, hell, he could lay down in the middle of the road for five minutes and no one would be around or driving by to see, but he wouldn't recomend it to a normal human unless they had uncanny reflexes. Despite his calm looking exteriour, his fingers were pulling and tearing at the fabric inside of his jacket pockets. He tried to dress as casual as possible, so it came down to black jeans, white button up shirt, black tie, and a suit jacket. Yeah, that was about as casual as he got. His lower body looked like a common young man, while his upper was that of a gentlemen with mannerisms, or at least a smart man. One would hardly believe that he was such a trouble making, radical kid when he was living a real life in the thirties.
He remembered the good old days, working at a fryer stand with a paper hat and a cigarette in his lips, serving up hot dogs like no tomorrow. Jully always sat in the shade while he worked and got free hot dogs, her favorite food. Blinking the happy painful memories away he focused on his task at hand. If he were correct the vampire coven leader by the name of Jael Naire would be passing through here soon, and it would probably be the only chance he got to speak with him with out his coven or the Breseis breathing down his neck. All messages he had were delivered in a speedy manner and he had about an hour and a half of spare time before they beckoned him again.
The smell of vampire came to his nose and he straightened up, thankful that Angelina's sight was correct. She told him where he was just a while ago, and she had been keeping track of Jael's usual schedule for Jasper for the past week, so he practically knew where Jael would be. His steely eyes quickly began to scan for any hint of movement at all, the vindictive vampire being all to anxious for his own good to speak with Jael. If they had an alliance it could seriously help in the defeat of the Breseis, and if anything he'd at least save Jael or any one in his Coven's life. Jasper recalled the other vampire he head met earlier that month, and recalled that vindiction was something he also lived for. So if he didn't have Jael's assistance he would at least have the help of his executioner, Mr. DuRêve.

Jael Naire walked alone down this street many a night, but tonight, he had a cheerful brunette attached to his arm. Tawny Lemuria was returning home after another night out with her bestest friend. Hopefully her neglectful father hadn't checked her room during her absence.
Doubtful. That man doesn't care about anyone but himself. This girl is nineteen and she's got the mind of a 5-year-old. She's been eating little more than pre-cut peanut butter and jelly for years.
Tawny suddenly tripped, causing Jael to loose his balance on the massive pile of presents he was balancing on his left hand; both girl and presents fell to the ground."Owie..." Tawny mumbled after a moment of startled silence, poking at her newly-skinned knee and wincing every time her finger made contact.Jael scowled and brushed her hand aside to examine the seriousness of the wound; there was no blood, as he thought. Good. He wouldn't forgive himself if he ever bit poor Tawny. "Stop poking it. Don't you know that's making the owie?" He quipped, brushing her hand away again as she tried to return it to her knee. "Your shoes are untied." He observed, noting that both of Tawny's new shoes had their laces undone."Oh." Tawny wiggled her feet and giggled. It was so funny how the laces moved around when she did that!"You have to tie them or you'll trip again," Jael told her, turning his attention away so he could gather the lids that popped off Tawny's gift boxes. He had stacked them all and was brushing off Hoppers, Tawny's new giant pink stuffed bunny, when he realized she hadn't moved to tie them."Hoppers is dirty." Tawny informed, getting up and stumbling toward her stuffed friend."Stop!" He shouted, making Tawny jump in surprise. He was much firmer than he intended to be and immediately regretted it as Tawny became fearful. "I'm sorry. I don't want you to fall. You have to tie your shoes."
This is goddamn nerve-wracking. I'm never having kids.Tawny considered Jael's apology for no more than five seconds before bouncing back to her usual self. "You can tie them!" She moved even closer to Jael to give him better access to her shoes, leading him to groan and slap a palm to his forehead. "Please?" She added."You can't tie them?" He asked, bewildered. She was nineteen! But then again...
Of course she can't even tie her own shoes. Who would have given her the chance? That bastard doesn't deserve to live. I'd kill him myself if it wouldn't make her upset.
"Alright, gimme your shoes."
This is fucking impossible..."Okay!" Tawny chirped, plopping down on the ground again and beginning to pull off her shoes."Not literally, Tawny!" Jael sighed, mentally kicking himself for not thinking that one through. Of course she'd try to hand them to him...he bent down and gently moved her hands away to tie her troublesome shoes.
You've got to be fucking joking. He thought to himself as he sensed the presence of another vampire nearby. He rolled his eyes and finished his shoe tying, helping Tawny up and shoving Hoppers into her arms.
"State your purpose." He called to whoever might be around, clamping his hands over Tawny's ears and looking away, so as to keep from startling her again. "If you're looking for trouble, I've got my hands full."
If you're willing to take a raincheck, I'll be happy to kick your ass some day where I'm not babysitting mortals.

Jasper was so focused on the other vampire that he hadn't even noticed the scent of a human girl with him. He looked over his shoulder just in time to see Jael leaning over to tie the girls shoes. As Jasper turned back and leaned against the wall a sad smile came to his face. It reminded him slightly of Jully. She never learned to tie her shoes, and Jasper always had to do it for her. The way she smiled, her flaming red hair always made her white smile stand out in the sun. She was so happy, so pure, so innocent. A headache began to form, making him force his thoughts away.
He jumped slightly at the sound of the other vampire demanding his presense. So he sensed him already? "Damn." Jasper thought to himself. Oh well, might as well step out. Jasper emerged into the street lights, holding his hands up as he approached cautiously. He stopped a few meters away and kept his voice low and calm. "I don't want any trouble, please, I just want to talk." Jasper could only hope that Jael would at least hear him out, if not just try to slay him on the spot like the last encounter he had with another vampire.

With the Breseis Coven threatening to smite everyone that wasn't in their ranks, Jael automatically expected the stranger to be more...threatening. In actuality, he was a polite, possibly frightened pretty boy. He raised a brow as he looked the other over. If the Breseis chose him as an assassin, they were getting stupider. Perhaps he was seeking protection?
"Talk, then." Jael drawled lazily, holding his ground. He didn't see Jasper as a threat, but he wouldn't risk being tricked when he was watching Tawny.
"Hi! My name's Tawny!" The girl called, waving enthusiastically. She didn't know anything about vampires or the Breseis Coven...Jasper just looked like he was friends with her bestest friend Mr. Jael! "Nice meet you!" She continued, fearlessly marching toward the stranger; she didn't like conversing with people unless she was practically on top of them.
Jael caught her around the middle and held her still. He shook his head and scowled at her naivite, but refrained from explaining his actions; he knew she wouldn't understand.
"Want be my friend?" Tawny continued, poking Jael's arm and giggling.

In all honesty the Breseis messenger didn't expect the other vampire to be all fine and dandy with his presence. In fact, he was a bit surprised at how incredibly calm the other seemed. Jasper was really expecting to be in a fight right about now, with blood bits being splattered on the walls and ground and the sound of small thunder erupting from the clashing immortals. Jasper lowered his hands slowly, looking oddly in the direction of the girl. It almost made him want to give a sad smile; to be able to see another vampire still protecting a human like this. His gaze lowered to the ground for a moment before looking back up.
"I will not beat around the bush. I know you know I'm from the Breseis, but I am in no way alligned or loyal to them." He took a small step forward, glancing towards the girl again almost expecting her to say something considering he ignored her request to be her friend. Jasper's gaze lingered back to Jael. "I just ask for a few moments of your time to try and explain myself." It was a risky move, no vampire would readily trust someone who had been in the Breseis for even the amount of time as Jasper.

Won't beat around the bush? You've been stalling since you showed yourself, you imbecile. Jael thought to himself critically. He was quickly growing bored with the other's polite, cautious demeanor. He let his shoulders slump and his eye narrow; he wouldn't let this man mistake for a minute that he was interested in what he had to say.
Think you know what I'm thinking, do you? Oh, you must be awfully clever. Jael surely would have hated Jasper by now, as the former habitually passed judgment on others within a few seconds of meeting them, but Jasper's prettiness alone saved him from that fate.
Was it his prettiness alone? There was something strangely familiar about Jasper, something Jael couldn't quite place. He felt uneasy around him, and slightly dizzy...he had to know why.
"Explain." He commanded. "You're abusing the damn bush." He appeared as arrogant and sarcastic as ever, despite his confusion; he had a talent for hiding what he was really feeling.
Tawny frowned when she received no reply, and stared at her shoes; it was making her uncomfortable looking at someone who clearly didn't like her. Maybe he'd yell at her or make a scary face? She wondered what she did that was so bad; after all, she only said hello and asked to be friends.
