Sometimes the trouble is worth the punishment. Spring was starting to arrive slowly but surely as the sky shone more brightly and the chills didn't bite as fiercely. But how bright the sun was didn't really matter at the moment because it was around 12:30 at night. He, like many teenagers, did not believe in going to bed at a reasonable hour. With a bag on his back he slipped into the night sneaking through the school as quietly as possible. The kitchen was a no because he new plenty of kids who went there to get a late night snack. The grounds was also a no because it was still far too chilly for his delicate disposition. Other places were ruled over for various other reasons, and so he was left with the library. Even if he got caught it probably would still be worth the trouble he'd get into.
After a quick scan of the library he found a window toward the back and started to set up his stuff. He pulled a small study table over and dumped the bag contents onto it. Out plopped his ipod, ipod speakers, some snacks/drinks, and a fuzzy, sleepy-eyed creature about the size of a large hamster. It yawned widely while stretching its membrane connected limbs before blinking groggily up at its best friend. Jay grinned down at his sleepy friend but continued setting up his things. He pushed away tables and chairs to make a clearing, opened up the various snacks, and popped open a mango energy drink. In a few minutes what looked to be a miniature party was set up in the back of the library.
Plugging in his ipod and speakers a song erupted into the silence with a smooth intro. The boy grinned broadly before flicking on his small rotating disco globe and snatching up his best friend. Chittering loudly the flying squirrel wrapped her long tail around the boy's wrist as he danced about the room as song after song played. His eye patch lay on the table next to his things not caring if his little buddy saw his discolored eye. Every song that played was upbeat, and most had a rhythm that begged to be danced to. Some of it might not be the cleanest music but he didn't care. It was the beat mostly, the rhythm that made him smile and dance.
Ruby, the tiny creature in his hands, squeaked and ran up his arm making the boy laugh as the animal ran about his torso. If he was caught by a teacher he was caught at least he'd gotten out of his room and laughed. He didn't break the rules often but when he did he made it count. It had to make him extremely happy because happiness was a rare gem, and in a world full of rocks gems were to be treasured for what they were. Features bright with laughter he lifted his arms into the air for his friend to climb over as he danced in the moonlight.

Vince spent the majority of the day at The Academy's research center, seeking information on everything and anything about the supernatural world. While his efforts at the New York Public Library were in vain, at The Academy he found a wealth of interesting and relevant subjects. He checked out at least six books, and he was using one titled "The Fae Queendom" as a pillow. He was snoring softly, and if one looked closer, they'd find he was drooling on the pages of the open book.
Neither the arrival of Jadyn and nor his party preparations disturbed Vince's slumber; he was a notoriously deep sleeper. In fact, he probably would have slept soundly until morning, completely unaware of the party that took place the night before, if it weren't for that disco ball.
Vince could probably sleep through an earthquake, but for some reason those colored, moving lights bothered him, and he fidgeted. In his sleepy state, he thought it was that blasted sun peeking through his blinds again, and attempted to roll over and ignore it. But he wasn't lying in bed, but sitting up at a table, and his attempt to "roll over" startled him awake as he fell out of his chair.
He swore softly as he awkwardly bashed his elbow on the ground, and he rubbed his wound while surveying his surroundings. He slowly remembered that he was in the research center almost all day, and by the looks of it, he had fallen asleep there...and drooled on that new-looking book. He swore again. He was only at The Academy for a few days, and he was already damaging public property!
But what roused him from his sweet dreams, he wondered, if not that pesky sunlight? He blinked sleepily, watching what appeared to be colored circles flying around the room. A disco ball? Was someone having a party in the research center, in the middle of the night?
Well, there is music playing. And this is a school full of people who aren't supposed to exist. Maybe they have parties in the middle of the night in the research center all the time, after a day packed with fireball-slinging. He rose and stealthily moving to investigate the situation.
There was a boy, an awful lot of food, and no one else. Was he throwing a party, only to have no one show? Was that a squirrel on his arm?
There was a boy in a school full of people who weren't supposed to exist, in a school no one knew about, in a research center, in the middle of the night, having a party, dancing with a squirrel?
He stared. This place was a lot weirder than he ever expected it to be, and he expected it to be pretty freakin' weird.

The idle threats of a scared squirrel. Thoroughly enjoying himself Jadyn danced his way over to the table and nibbled on some of the snacks laid out. He lifted up a cheesy puff up for Ruby to gobble up quickly with a happy chitter. Taking a long pull from the energy drink he stared out the tall window out at the star filled night. Nothing seemed better right that moment than being with his best friend, the sweet yet bitter taste of the drink, and music pounding around him. After another long drink he started moving to the new song blasting from the speakers. His body moved along as though his muscles were attached to the beat, and the squirrel ran about his body with energetic chattering. The two were lost in their own little world filled with music and happiness. Most of the time his eyes were closed enabling him to block out the fact that he was in the back of a library. If his eyes would have been open he might've noticed the figure in the dark.
As it were the one to notice the watching being was the little rodent who stopped on the boy's shoulder. She stared for a moment then began chittering anxiously and angrily into her friend's ear. Jay stopped for a moment wondering why his little friend was tugging so violently on his ear lobe, and what the fuss was about. The squirrel turned and bared her teeth in the direction of the figure and the boy turned as well. Eyes going wide he took a few clumsy steps backward until he bumped into the table. If the being had been a teacher they'd have come right out to scold him for being out so late. If they had been a student they'd have probably either laughed at him or simply joined him. Whoever it was wasn't, at least from his conclusions, a student or teacher. Not unless they were enjoying watching the boy look like a fool dancing in a library.
His hand flailed behind him until he found the ipod almost knocking over his drink in the process. Ruby ran down his arm down to the table her fur standing on end as she stared with her nocturnal eyes at the man. Swallowing nervously Jadyn stared at what he hoped was a human. "W-who's there? Whoever you are weren't you ever taught that staring was rude? And that silently staring at a young boy dancing at night is a very creepertastic sort of thing to do?" His mouth was as dry as a sun baked drained swimming pool, and he was doing his best to not let his voice shake. "If you're some stalker-creeper person then I'll have you know I'm a very dangerous person! And I'll do very...un-nice things to you, and I have to warn you...she bites! " Pointing at his little squirrel she hopped up again down barring her teeth angrily.
The flying squirrel let out a stream of noises almost as if she were too threatening the figure. "And if you're some evil demon planing on eating my soul then look somewhere else. Because I don't taste good...and I'll give you indigestion." He clenched his hands into fists and took a step forward into the moonlight the strobe lights dancing around him. "If you're just someone normal then you shouldn't sneak up on people, and show yourself already whatever-whoever you are." Doing his best to be commanding he stood his blue eye glinting in the moonlight as he called on his dragon sense to maybe see whoever it was.

Vince put his hands up in surrender and stepped out of the shadows cautiously. He did feel guilty for scaring the poor kid, but he was admittedly more afraid for himself than anything. The last thing he wanted was to be zapped into oblivion by some terrified kid, after discovering he had awesome superpowers and meeting up with Stormy again. Wouldn't it just be sad if he died before he found out if she really hated him?
"I'm sorry. I'm not a creeper, I promise. Just never seen a little boy partying with a squirrel in a library in the middle of the night." He couldn't help but grin as the other continued his adorable rant. He was trying very hard not to laugh, just in case that'd make the kid explode him, but it was proving very difficult.
"I was just sleeping over there..." He continued, a chuckle escaping him. Damn. I hope he doesn't notice that. Figures I'd piss him off more by trying to explain I'm not actually a stalker-creeper person...
"You kinda woke me up. I was napping just over there." He jerked his head in the direction of his now-abandoned table, unwilling to move his hands out of their 'don't hurt me' position.
Maybe he can't actually explode me. He doesn't look so tough...uh...better not risk it.
"Not a demon." He assured, pondering the possibility of demons. That sure sounded scary. He wasn't sure he wanted to run into one of those. "Just a guy."
He thought about adding 'I come in peace,' but decided that might be pushing it.

Testing the waters with the threat of fainting.
Surrender hands up, voice not intimidating, and he wasn't a demon. All of these things were good, and all of them helped him not faint. Ruby wasn't as easily convinced as he was her teeth still bared in a poor attempt to look fierce. After his rant and the guy's explanation he stared accusingly not sure if he should believe the stranger. The guy could be lying, could be a demon with a silver tongue, or he could just be some random guy who fell asleep in a library. Demon lying, and trying to manipulate him to eat him, not likely. A guy who spent all day studying or researching, and konked out, very likely. "Okay, let's say I believe you. Do you have any evidence that you're not an evil creeper with a devious plan to do something...uh..devious to me?" He really didn't know anything about evil people. The only bad thing he knew that people could do to each other is inflict pain, or kill each other, and he preferred not to get into the details of either. Jay lifted up the energy drink trying to calm himself, and it also gave him time to think things through. No need to overreact, no need to blow things out of proportion. On the other hand it was better to judge quickly and live than face an early death. "If you were indeed napping over there, then were you researching beforehand? Maybe you could tell what you were researching." He took a slow, long drink from the can enjoying the mango tang that flowed over his tongue. The squirrel flicked her tail unhappily before climbing up Jadyn's arm and onto his shoulder. The two of them stood staring at the stranger trying to look like two cool cats ready to tear into him. While in truth if the guy so much as glared at them they'd probably either run away or faint. (ooc. sorry so short...)[/blockquote][/blockquote]
