Root was the youngest and least experienced of the faerie knights, known for her towering self-confidence and somewhat...eccentric behavior. Eager to prove herself and serve her people, she patrolled The Queendom even when she was off-duty. She craved excitement and adventure, but she found none; all too often she would brandish her sword at suspiciously-shaking bushes only to find innocent little bunny rabbits nibbling on berries. But today, during her noon patrol, she would finally discover something exciting.
As she made her way toward the Queen's residence, she was surprised to find a small band of people gathered outside. Curious, she approached them, eager to catch what was being said.
"Down with the Queen![/i]" A plump male faerie boomed.
Root nearly toppled over in surprise; that was the last thing she ever thought she'd hear! After the generous but firm Minerva Corrigan freed her people from the tyrannical rule of the last Queen, her people should be singing her praises, not rallying against her! She slowly, stealthily blended in with the crowd, seeking to find out just what this 'Down with the Queen' business was all about.
At the front of the group stood the leader, a pink-haired faerie who Root knew as Rosemary. Rosemary, a faerie knight was leading this slandering of the Queen! Rosemary, one of the Queen's most loyal, stood among civillians wearing full armor, her hand on the hilt of her sword, speaking of rebellion!
"Do you want to be slave to a lazy, selfish Queen?" Rosemary demanded. "NO!" Her lackeys boomed, pumping their fists into the air. "Since Minerva Corrigan took the throne, she has done nothing to help our nation prosper!" She continued, to which she was greeted with "SHE MUST BE STOPPED!" and "What kind of Queen is she?!"
Root was horrified. "Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no, no, no!" The rookie knight muttered under her breath, backing away from the crowd so quickly that she tripped over her own two feet and landed on her rear. "Owie..." She groaned, rubbing her bruised behind before quickly bouncing to her feet. She had to get to Minerva or Cerridwen or someone fast! There were rogue knights staging an uprising, hands on swords, with civillians near by! Children could be hurt!
"This is noottt good!" She sprouted her wings and flew into the royal residence, desperately looking for someone with higher authority than herself. She couldn't stop this mess on her own! Where was the Head of the Faerie Knights?!
On vacation. The new Head was away on leave. "Oh, faerie dust!" Now what was she to do?! Oh, if only Riana had stayed!
The crowd outside was getting so rowdy that she could hear them shouting even through the walls:
"How dare you speak ill of Queen Minerva!"
"She is nothing but a mortal-lover!"
"I heard her mother was a mortal!"
"I'd like to see you do a better job!"
"She's not fit to rule!"
"How could you say this? We've never known such a time of peace!"
"Queen Minerva restored honor to our name!"
"Lady Violetta will make a fine ruler!"
"Where is your Lady Violetta? Let her speak for herself!"
Faerie dust, faerie dust, faerie dust, faerie dust, faerie dust! Root thought to herself, slamming open doors only to find empty rooms. "M-minerva! I-I mean, Queen Minerva! Miss Cerridwen! Corrigan! Someone?! Help!" She shouted, panicking.
This was not the kind of excitement she was looking for!
