are you one of the marching undead OR DO YOU DEVIATE LIKE ME? don't speak, there's someone else in your head NO YOU ARE NOT ALONE! A long, exasperated breath broke the silence that preceeded it for minutes. As the air escaped the lungs of the dead individual, focus narrowed and grip tightened. This was the moment that Delacoix thrived upon.
Faster than any human would be able to perceive, two fingers lifted from the alloy string harboring a single, metallic rod. Once released, the heavy projectile flew forward, the result of nearly a ton of force thrusting it forward.
Only moments later, a low metallic sound filled the dim room, indicating that the arrow had indeed struck something. Lowering the towering bow, Delacoix calmly paced forwards to check his aim. The sound of his flats haulted suddenly as he drew within a few feet of the large spiked, embedded far into the wall. It was sitting almost an inch about the small, crimson "X" marked upon the wall in his own blood. A rather cryptic gesture, if your wounds didn't reseal in seconds. There wasn't even a mark upon his finger from where his fang tore a small hole, allowing it to be used like a brush upon a canvas.
There was no smile upon the Vampires face, nor any other sign of pride at just how superb the shot was. From the distance of approximately three-hundred feet, being less than an inch off was nothing short of impressive. To a human, anyways. To a Vampire that had lived twelve centuries with the instrument in hand? This was failure.
And it was not acceptable.
With excessive force, the heavy arrow was plucked from its deep crater within the concrete wall. Tiny fractures sprawled out in every direction from the point of entry, testament to the force placed behind each shot fired from the all metal bow. After a short glance at the door, the only door to the training room that Delacoix had 'hijacked', he set off to his position once more, intent upon rectifying his terrible shot.
It was from this door that Delacoix had obviously entered, weapon in hand, ready to begin his daily regiment of training. A pair of young students were already engaged in what could only be called horseplay. Half-assed attempts at fencing, with no regard for form or respect. Just waving an eepee around as if it were some common shortblade. Pathetic.
The room was certainly put together well. Lockers lined the far walls, containing various instruments and accessories to practice with. There were no windows save the single one in the door, making it ideal for the Vampire to practice in as long as he desired. And best of all, it was incredibly long. Perfect for archery practice.
Taking a single, loud step inside the door, he made his presence known to the pair making fools of themselves. Color immediatly left their faces as their eyes moved from the weapon in one hand, to the other pointing outside the door, to the displeased look upon the face of Delacoix. No words were exchanged, not even between the pair. Tails between their legs, the pair exited in a hurry.
Because Delacoix simply hated company, and there was no doubt in his mind that this was a facility that saw regular use, he decided to take measures into his own hand to ensure his solitude. Drawing a smell pen from his bag, the Vampire snatched a small posted for some school charity, flipped it over, and began to write.
Room is in use. Archery in practice. Come back later. Intruders will be shot.
[/blockquote] Plastering the one small window in the door with the poster, Delacoix strode across the room to prepare for a long evening of practice. Now already a single shot into his practice, Delacoix resumed his careful stance at the far side of the room, squinting down the room at the immaculate "X" across from him. With his target so close to the door, it wouldn't be difficult to fire at anyone who did not heed his warning. In fact, Delacoix found himself hoping someone was arrogant enough to ignore it. Things had been far too civil for far too long around here. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Pain, growing stronger Life, exists no longer Welcome, to a world of pain Death and despair
Amy was in an extremely good mood. Today she had fed off of a real, honest to goodness human, which she hadn't done in what seemed like ages. Potted plants, small animals... there was something decidedly unsatisfying about the trash the Academy fed her people.
Even Kayla had nothing to complain about. The big jerk had it coming to him any way. Amy and Kayla had seen into his mind, seen what he had done. His secrets were fresh in his mind, his deepest insecurities barely hidden.
But he was of no real consequence now. He lay now in some empty corridor, lucky to have enough energy to keep breathing (Killing cattle, while more satisfying, was considered bad form in the demon circles Amayla traveled). And she was full of legion, shifting underneath her outer skin. Sweet, sweet darling legion.
It was late when they got to the Training Center. Kayla hadn't hit anything in a long time, and was getting pretty bored, a fact which Amy was painfully aware of.
The training center was almost deserted when the girls got there. The last few teens there, rushed by her with wild looks in their eyes. Amy didn't pay attention to them. Why would she?
[Red] Seriously?! Amy, you said there would be people here. Real, fighting people. You promised me![/red]
Darling sister, I always keep my promises. Didn't you know that?
[Red]What are you talking ab- oh.[/red]
Amy had noticed the sign first.
Room is in use. Archery in practice. Come back later. Intruders will be shot.
[/blockquote] This was quite the challenge for Amy and Kayla. Without thinking they silently opened the door, and imminently noticed their surroundings. What appeared to be either a vampire or albino teenager (Most likely vampire, considering the school) stood across the room, bow in hand. The girls were hit by the all too familiar scent of blood. [red] That psycho painted a target with his blood[/red] "You do realize you could have easily borrowed some red paint from the Art Hall, right?" There seemed to be no reason to Amayla to paint with your own blood, unless you were trying to impress a Goth girlfriend or something. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Steady the breath first. Once control of breathing; of one's chest rising and falling, is acquired, set your sights. Release on the exhale. Delacoix found it incredibly ironic that he, a Vampire, was always so very focused upon his breathing. It was, after all, not a needed action. Yet he could never manage to kick the habit, and he was about as old as they come.
The normal rhythm Delacoix fell back upon was interrupted by the slightest noise. Hinges squeaking as the door they held up swung open. The noise of which made him wince in frustration, realizing his natural aim had been lost. The exhale was followed up not by the twang of an arrow, but a sigh of anger. The Vampire retained his position however, as if to ignore the intruder.

"You do realize you could have easily borrowed some red paint from the Art Hall, right?" called a young female voice. Using sarcasm, of all things. Clearly, a lesson upon manners was in order, as one really should know better than to enter a room with such a death-specific note upon the door and toss words about. Delacoix did not appreciate interruptions. He also did not appreciate his warnings going ignored. Combined with the complete lack of subtlety expressed by the girl that chose so foolishly to bother him, it left Delacoix with little choice. He could not ignore this.
No time was wasted in turning at the hip, sighting the girl and aiming for her waist. His vampiric speed was sufficient enough to allow this motion to be fluid and precise. There was no need to take time on this shot - any flaw in the trajectory could be easily rectified by his ability to alter kinetics. Ultimately, the reason why the Vampire ever began using such a weapon. "You do realize that I wasn't fucking around, right?" Delacoix spoke softly, releasing the heavy, 33lb arrow straight towards his new foe.
Not caring to check if his first shot found its mark or not, cold hands found their way around the next arrow. As if second nature, the next shot was already being prepared, coal black eyes refocusing with mild enthusiasm.

Pain, growing stronger Life, exists no longer Welcome, to a world of pain Death and despair
The demoness was both lucky and unlucky that the arrow directed at her was so blazing fast. On the one hand, she was unable to dodge the arrow. On the other hand, she was made of Legion.
Had the arrow been shot slower, or at human speeds, it would have been lodged in her arm, which would ultimately kill more of her legion. Instead, the arrow went straight through her arm with no bone to stop it, which had only really done damage to the legion directly in the arrow's path.
The gaping hole in the girl's arm resealed even as she spoke.
"Ouch."
The demon had no real time to do anything complicated. To attempt infiltration of the vampire's mind would take too long, and as ineffective as the arrow was, it still hurt. So she stuck to one of the crudest, yet quite effective, techniques of her unique art.
She sent the vampire a barrage of confusing sights, sounds and smells. Amy attempted to flood his mind with a bit of sensory overload. Not enough to cripple him, but certainly enough to disable his aim.
She would send him the smell of fresh grass, dirty clothes, rain, blood, dog.... many others. She attempted to add little flashes of multiple colors to his vision. He might feel a kiss, or a punch, or a breath of air.
Amy didn't particularly care about the other four senses. Those effects were pretty much random, whatever came to mind. What she took extra care with was with the sounds. Those, unlike the other sensory abnormalities, would not change or flicker through the effect. The sound would stay constant.
The buzzing of a mosquito right above his ear. Screaming mothers and children. Laughing, incessant laughing. Lullabies she had picked up over her many years. Horses running through the night.
Amayla was not a force to be reckoned with.

are you one of the marching undead OR DO YOU DEVIATE LIKE ME? don't speak, there's someone else in your head NO YOU ARE NOT ALONE! What would otherwise have been another, regular, shot, once again found itself interrupted. This time it, was not because of distraction, but confusion. A single eyebrow cocked upwards at the sight of the hole in his target, who uttered nothings more than a simple
"Ouch". Which meant that this was either some sort of Vampire, or Demon. There was no stench of blood, leaving Delacoix to assume the latter. Lovely. So this would be about ripping apart legion from the body, rather than striking vitals.
It was only when the arrow about to be fired was instead jammed into the ground did Delacoix feel an incredible sensation come about him. Noise. Everywhere. As all his other senses had suddenly fallen silent, multiplying the effect of his already sensative ears. His grip upon his bow tightened in reaction, trying to force the feeling from his mind. To no avail. What a bothersome little girl. Did she not understand the concept of solitude?
With his eyes now constantly wincing, his head also moving with the pain as well, the Vampire knew he had little hope of actually landing a direct shot. But he had alternatives.
Reaching into his bag at his feet with about all the speed he could muster, his shaking hands latched onto a pair of arrowheads within. Each of his arrows had a different purpose, a different mark that it was meant to control. After all the time that was spent practicing with them, it was not surprising he had come to know each by the feel of the head.
It had to be clear that Delacoix was struggling with this shot. His body was quivering, and there was no compensation for this. Delacoix had already given up trying to make contact with her. Instead, the black tipped arrow was released towards the feet of the woman. As long as it connected with the ground near her, things might be alright.
Might.
Unable to contain it any longer, the arrow was sent hurdling towards the foot of the demon. It's volcanic glass head the focal point of Delacoix's concentration, or rather, what was left of it. This arrowhead was the key. Volcanic glass, while beautiful, is incredibly fragile. It's purpose at the end of an arrow is not to pentrate, but to shatter. Sending thousands of pieces of deadly shrapanel in every direction. The smaller the shard, the sharper. Combined with Delacoix's ability to redirect kinetic energy (what little he could spare, that is) this creates a very controlled, very effective sort of frag grenade.
Down on a single knee now, Delacoix could fire no more. Anguish filled his gaze, following the arrow to the foot of the demon. Mustering everything he had to both fight of this new sensation, and send every black shard of glass straight into the vile creatures heart. If this didn't work, then the situation would require some desperate action. Or worse - communication.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Pain, growing stronger Life, exists no longer Welcome, to a world of pain Death and despair
Amy's little sensory bomb was working beautifully. Kayla was delighted, but Amy was missing that little sense of self satisfaction. There was something missing from this victory. This man.. he attacked her without warning. He shot a little girl for no reason. How delicious it would be to get into this man's mind. Amy wondered what this man had done, who he was.
Kayla was unconcerned. She was personally more worried with not getting shot again. She watched him reach into his bag, presumably for another weapon, and so she danced delightfully away from her spot, certain the man would miss.
To her delight, the arrow ended up landing few feet away from her.
To her surprise, the arrow exploded, and pieces of glass flew toward her.
Kayla instinctively clutched her hands over where her Heart was, but the pieces of glass didn't make it that far. Instead, they burrowed themselves deep into her right leg, and this time they didn't pass right through. This time they stuck themselves in the appendage, killing surrounding Legion.
Had there been just one shard of glass, the demon would have just split her leg up to the shard so it would harmlessly fall to the floor... but there were multiple shards of glass stuck in her leg, so she had to take a more painful, less efficient road.
Amayla's leg retreated back into her body, the Legion swarming over the pieces of glass to retreat. The plan still meant some of the Legion would die, but at more would die by ignoring the shard of glass, and allowing it to stay.
Kayla fell over, her balance thrown off by the sudden loss of a leg, but she called back the retreating legion, and her leg flowed back into existence, and she stood back up, ready to fight.
No.
Kayla thought quizzically at Amy.
We aren't going to fight this one.
Amy turned her 'voice' to the Vampire.
STOP!
As a peace gesture, she ended the sensory barrage, but instead, threw her voice at him.
The Academy has cameras everywhere. They are already suspicious of our different kinds. As fun as getting expelled would be, I have unfinished business here.
While that was all true, the real reason Amy wanted to stop the fight was so she could attempt to get into the man's mind.... this guy seemed dangerous and rash, so Amy was a little nervous about just bashing in there during combat. For all she knew, he was a skilled telepath before being turned.

Stop.

Never before had a sweeter word been spoken. As the solitary syllable filled the mind of the Vampire, he could feel the excruciating agitation of sensory overload fleeting. A shuddering sigh escaped Delacoix, similar to the effect of one stroking the spine of a cat. Relief.
Rising to his feet once more, Delacoix became instantly aware that the Demon had chosen to relinquish him. What he was not aware of, was why. His blow didn't seem to have bothered the beast too much. Not that he saw it. It was not trying to flee or beg, so what was it playing at?
Back straightened. Grip loosened. Delacoix's mind was racing now, anticipating something more of the Demon. He knew all too well of the pacts they preferred to live upon, but had never had the pleasure of experiencing one himself. There was potential in them, no doubt. A Demon like this would certainly be an asset to plans.
If loyal.
As if the events had never happened, Delacoix resumed his practice. Ripping the arrow from the floor, it was once again strung, sights upon the "X" marked across from him. "Is there something I can get you, madame, or will you be on your way?" Delacoix called out, slowly. No hint of a threat in his voice, no anger or pressure. Just sheer curiosity.
After all, nothing really made sense here. A demon would have little desire to mess around with a Vampire, for starters. No foreseeable benefit, unless it sought some kind of physical treaty with him. And there was no reason for it to not have finished the job. He couldn't fight her power, and she had to know that. Mercy simply wasn't an option. If Delacoix didn't fear some sort of trap, he would have tossed the bow aside to confront his foe face to face.
But Demons were crafty, and not to be trusted unless joined by pact. No exceptions.
So Delacoix aimed, steadily, minding the rise and fall of his chest once more. Anticipating the next move of the being across from him. Hoping they were words, not actions. He really didn't feel like wasting another arrow.

Pain, growing stronger Life, exists no longer Welcome, to a world of pain Death and despair
The vampire's voice was smooth and friendly, which Amy appreciated. There were people who seemed to fight, and fight, and fight for no reason. She was expecting spite, hatred even.
The man's got a point. What the hell are you doing, Amy?
Just... just trust me, alright?
With my life. Kayla responded sardonically.
Amy glanced at the bow, aimed and ready to fire again. "What can you get me? Why, your name for starters. And a little bit of your time. And maybe if you really love me, one of those exploding arrows. Those hurt like hell." Amy's tone was friendly, slightly comical even.
"To be honest, we- I was looking for someone to spar with... get some practice in. Physical combat seems to be off the table though. " Amy looked the vampire up and down. "I'm Amy, Mind Demon extraordinaire. Arrived here on Earth in 1701, been around for 2539 years. "
Amy liked to impress/confuse people with these facts, and leave people wondering why she was 2230 years older than she was supposed to be.
Amy motioned towards a nearby bench. "Would you accompany an old lady to a seat?"
What's all this about? Are you... flirting with him? Amy, he's a vampire. And look at us? Do you really think he's gonna walk around the school wi-
Oh please. Obviously I don't want to date him. But I want to know what's in his mind. I want to know who he is.
Go right ahead. I don't know what's so interesting; It's not like you'll find what we're looking for... the man tried to shoot us after all.
Not that way. Not yet. I want to talk to him
Oh god Amy. A friendship? Here? Now? With this guy? Why would we need, why would we want a friendship?
Not a friendship... not really. That's a strong word. Just think, how interesting would it be to find out how this guy acts, and then who he really is? What he says are his motives, then what really are? To know who he is, and then what he is? Pretty damn interesting. Just... trust me, alright?
Amy's close-lipped smile towards the vampire was bright, but subtle.

are you one of the marching undead OR DO YOU DEVIATE LIKE ME? don't speak, there's someone else in your head NO YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Silence fell upon the Vampire as the complete opposite took place within himself. He could do nothing but ponder the words spoken to him.
"To be honest, we- I was looking for someone to spar with... get some practice in. Physical combat seems to be off the table though. To be honest, we- I was looking for someone to spar with... get some practice in. Physical combat seems to be off the table though." So many contrasting opinions and desires to be wrapped into a single reply. If only Demons had a reputation of being remotely trustworthy.
Using concentration upon the shot as facade to buy time, Delacoix sized up his options. Certainly, he did not wish to upset the Demon. There was no part of him that wished to repeat the previous experience. And it was just unsettling that someone could get into his head like that, without any contact at all. Frustrating.
Yet, Delacoix could not refuse a duel, if challenged.
It suddenly struck Delacoix that the Demon had struck some 1800 years outside of their plane of existence. This was, of course, only another reason to shed ones belief in a higher power. There were no Angels about, no benevolent entities, no holy presence at all. Just vile, more vile, and evil.
The twang of another arrow broke the silence as Delacoix reached his decision. Metallic vibrations reverberated inside the room until the shattering of concrete replaced it. The neutral position of the Vampires lips finally cracked, into a small, triumphant smirk. Perfect shot.
"I will take you up upon a melee spar, should that be your desire, Amy. If this is not the case, I will beg your pardon, as I have no intentions of straying from my practice," Delacoix replied politely, lowering his heavy bow to the hip. Unsure where his proposition would take them, Delacoix waited to see if he needed to raise his bow once more.
"You may call me Delacoix."

"I will take you up upon a melee spar, should that be your desire, Amy. If this is not the case, I will beg your pardon, as I have no intentions of straying from my practice,"
This guy wasn't making it easy. How was Amy supposed to talk to him if all he wanted to do was fight or practice. In fact, she was a little bit insulted. Almost as if the guy was trying to get rid of her.
There. See? He doesn't want to play nice. Now either go exploring into the painfreak's mind or or let's go.
Fine. I suppose you're right.
Unless she was doing something devious, Amy tended to be a little impatient. Usually the opposite was true with immortal beings, but something about her little-girl form made her edgy.
"No, I don't think I shall be sparring you any time soon." Amy's tone took on a more formal turn. "I do wish to watch you however, if only for a little bit. Archery fascinates me so." Without waiting for an answer, she glided over to a bench to watch the vampire at work.
Hey, Kayla, would you mind staying here? If he asks us a question, or comments or something, I want us to be awake.
Yeah, as if I'd want to be in his mind. I'm all for hurting other people, but I don't think he even did it for enjoyment. He... just shot. Go ahead.
Amy probed out, losing all touch with her body. She plunged, attempting to subtly enter his mind. Right now she was only looking for surface thoughts, what he thought about her and the like. Then maybe she would turn to personal history.
What she would find, or even if she would be successful, was anyone's guess

are you one of the marching undead OR DO YOU DEVIATE LIKE ME? don't speak, there's someone else in your head NO YOU ARE NOT ALONE! What little satisfaction Delacoix drew from his perfect shot was undone by the Demon.
"I do wish to watch you however, if only for a little bit. Archery fascinates me so," she announced, taking up a seat not too far away from where he was standing. The urge to scream found itself bubbling to Delacoix's surface. Clearly she couldn't take a hint. So she wanted something.
Twice, Delacoix raised his bow, following through the motions of preparing a shot. Twice, he could only shake his head, shuffle about, and retry. Twice he could not fire. Delacoix had no problems with pressure, nor a fear of being watched. There was simply something wrong with this girl. Something felt out of place. He couldn't put his finger on it, but between what she said, and what she was doing, something didn't fit]. Almost nervously, black eyes darted quickly from his target to the girl, as if the answer would be painted in bright red letters upon her forehead. This was not like him.
There was no movement now, now motions set in place indicating Delacoix wished to continue further. Consumed by thought, by the various possibilities of what could be going on. And there were so very many.
Delacoix could take it not longer. He didn't enjoy the feeling of being used looming overhead. It was evident upon his face now that he was suspicious; that he had tried to assemble the pieces and concluded that they do not fit. Carefully avoiding eye-contact, Delacoix stalled no longer in addressing the issue.
"You're not here because you care about archery. You're not getting a spar either. Tell me what you're after, Amy," demanded Delacoix quietly, carefully rummaging through his pack once more. If she was going to try that strange sensory attack once more, he'd be ready. Obviously, there was little desire for it to come to that, again. But Demons were rather psychotic. Especially little Demon-child ones.

Pain, growing stronger Life, exists no longer Welcome, to a world of pain Death and despair
Kayla watched with a bored expression on her face. The vampire guy wasn't even doing anything. He just sat there aiming. She hoped that Amy wouldn't be too long inside the freakshow.
And suddenly, boredom was the least of her worries.
"You're not here because you care about archery. You're not getting a spar either. Tell me what you're after, Amy,"
"Uh..."
He was onto her. Kayla stared at the Vampire with surprise, while she shouted for help.
ABORT MISSION! STOP! AMY! GET BACK HERE NOW! HE'S TALKING, HE'S TALKING!
Damn. I was getting so close too. Amy had barely even gotten to the surface of Delecoix's mind before she had to be ushered back to her body.
Amy's eyes narrowed and became more alert as she regained her sense.
"What am I after? Why can't I merely be here for conversation?" Amy knew that the vampire wouldn't buy that... it was just her opener.
"I'll tell you what. I am here because I wanted to spar... but that's not why I stayed. I stayed, because I can't figure you out. I walked in here, and you shot me. Just like that. Why? It wasn't self defense. I'm a little freaking girl. It wasn't out of pleasure... That I understand. It wasn't for any reason I can possibly fathom."
"And even before that, what's the deal with the blood 'X'? What kind of vampire wastes his precious life blood on something as trivial as an archery target?"
"And what the hell kind of student carries around custom exploding arrows in their bag? I understand that this is the Academy, but even here that's just weird. So what's your deal?"
Amy wasn't yelling at Delecoix. There was only a hint of anger in her voice, along with some frustration and confusion.
Kayla watched Delecoix carefully as he searched in his bag. That bag made her nervous, and she was preparing to cut Amy out and defend themselves if the need arose.

are you one of the marching undead OR DO YOU DEVIATE LIKE ME? don't speak, there's someone else in your head NO YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
No motion or sound escaped Delacoix, carefully processing each and every word confessed by the Demon. Only when she finished her rant, sounding about as frustrated as Delacoix himself, did he remember he had a purpose within his bag. He nodded afterwards, finally extracting the desired items from his bag.
Knives.
Parrying knives, intricate folded steel designed for the soul purpose of dueling, crashed upon the floor beside Delacoix. His weapons of choice for melee fights. Small, incredibly light (multiplied by his multiple strength enhancements, they may as well be toothpicks), and very resilient.
"For someone so old, you certainly seem to lack critical thinking," Delacoix mused, taking his time folding his bow away. After the string had retracted, the small lump of metal was tossed almost carelessly inside the bag, leaving a few stray arrows sitting around it.
"So let's cut right to it. You're not a little girl. You simply look like one. Similarly, I look like just another snot-nosed student, but I'm not," began the Vampire. The ribbed hand guard of his daggers now woven around each hand as he walked, slowly, across the room. "I can't fathom what person actually enters a room with such a blatant threat written upon it. Or continues to enter when they notice blood strewn across the walls. And continues further after being attacked, repeatedly."
Not wanting to instigate a fight (at least not yet), Delacoix remained about fifteen feet away from where the Demon was sitting. If she wanted to know about him, she was going to get it. All of it. Pouring on the pressure by moving in with weapons in hand, Delacoix aimed to pressure the Demon into talking first.
"If I can afford to waste 'precious' blood upon the walls, perhaps that means something about me? If I walk about at the dead of night, heavily armed, with exotic and expensive weaponry, perhaps that means something? If I've been been nothing but hostile, perhaps that means something," he said now grinning quite wholesomely. Delacoix was enjoying this. It might look a little pathetic, a man of his size moving in on a little girl. A little creepy-evil-demon girl.
"So why, exactly, are we darting around things? Clearly we both have things to hide, things we don't care to expose. And clearly, both of our curiosities will not allow us to progress without knowing. A trade, perhaps, Amy?"

Pain, growing stronger Life, exists no longer Welcome, to a world of pain Death and despair
If Delecoix wanted to talk to Amy, he should have started talking before he took out his knives. As soon as Kayla saw him pull them out of his bag, she almost forcibly took over the body.
Amy, he's not talking. He doesn't seem to be up to your happy friendship fantasy, so either get in his mind or stay the hell away from the controls. I trusted you, now trust me.
... We'll talk about this later.Amy's tone of mind was cold and insulted, but she once again detached and latched herself into Delecoix's mind. She was on a search, a hunt, in case things got real ugly
Kayla did not move back or appear unfazed as Delecoix advanced on her with his knives. While he was taking his sweet time putting away his bow, Kayla was busy concentrating on moving and reforming her legion.
In place of fingers, Kayla now had ten miniscule blades protruding from her hand. They would be horrible for defense, as they were made of of legion and not steel, but they were rigid and sharp enough to stab and slash if necessary.
"A trade? Like, a you show me yours I'll show you mine kind of deal? Tell me, what do you propose we trade? What do you want so badly that I have, and what do you propose to give me?" Kayla made almost no outward acknowledgment of her blade-fingers. She talked with her hands and made guestures as if she were sporting normal fingers.
"And for Legia's sake, stop drawing weapons on me! Assuming you are willing and able to kill me, how would you explain that to the Academy? 'Oh, I got a little carried away when I sparred against that weaponless demon and ripped her piece by piece?'. Something tells me that someone with such a dark and secretive background wouldn't want the Academy and a tonne of demons suddenly on their ass."

are you one of the marching undead OR DO YOU DEVIATE LIKE ME? don't speak, there's someone else in your head NO YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Delacoix took absolutely no notice of the reformation of the girls fingers. His focus was keenly placed upon her face, to watch for signs of something gone amiss. And watching for signs of her body to flinch, as a whole.

Delacoix slowly nodded along with Amy, up until the point where he would have opened his mouth to reply to her. But she only continued on. "And for Legia's sake, stop drawing weapons on me! Assuming you are willing and able to kill me, how would you explain that to the Academy? 'Oh, I got a little carried away when I sparred against that weaponless demon and ripped her piece by piece? Something tells me that someone with such a dark and secretive background wouldn't want the Academy and a tonne of demons suddenly on their ass."
He didn't even bother looking at the weaponry in his hand. He knew it was there, he knew it bothered her, and was quite entertained by the level of concern she was displaying over it. If they had just met, he would have said it to be either a trick: playing up the little girl card, or it was genuine. At this point, he felt it to be genuine. Always good. Backing up a step in response to her words, Delacoix nodded once more.
"As it were, I believe you were the one with the intricate mind powers, not myself. Leading me to believe you'd be able to come away alive if I tried such a thing. As for explanations..." Delacoix smiled, shrugging rather nonchalantly, "I'd love to see them try to catch me. It'd do them some good." Sowing the seeds of interests.
It was at this point that Delacoix decided to just have fun with the situation. Care for what happened ceased to influence his actions or thoughts - he'd deal with the consequences as they came. Thrusting his arms out to his sides, the knives were tossed several feet away from his person. They clashed loudly upon the floor, ringing into the air.
"So here's what you're after, Amy. I'm from the Corporation. I'm here to scout the next attack upon the facility, among other things, like recruit." Delacoix was pacing now, his arms and fingers moving animatedly with his speech. "Which leads directly to my question for you.
Just how loyal are you to this school? Do you ever crave more than what the Academy rations you for legion? Because I know of such desire, such a need for greater substance, Amy, and I can provide an alternative..."
