Stage II had begun. Amayla was lead to the main hall, where a vast pool stretching from wall to wall awaited. The water was murky, and it was impossible to determine how deep it was. Something was moving about in it - many somethings - but the water was too cloudy to confess what lurked beneath the surface.
On the other side of the pool was a wall containing three black doors, clearly labeled with green, ominous numbers 1, 2, and 3. Nothing hinted at what could await within. Large, mechanical hinges promised that opening these doors would be a very difficult task indeed. However, in the center of each door was a keyhole.
"Amy, welcome to Stage II! Right now you have three points under your belt! Somewhere in the water there are three keys, each with a number. These keys open the doors you see ahead. Each door leads to a challenging obstacle, and each of the obstacles are worth one point. Only the contestants with the top four scores will proceed to the final Stage. You were given a safety word before you arrived. Should you wish to abandon an obstacle, you must shout the word, and that point will be forfeited! You may start when you are ready!"
This time there was no audience, aside from the cameras positioned around the hall. Amayla was alone, and the door behind them shut and locked.
"You can always back out now..." The disembodied voice suggested over the speakers, "...I wouldn't blame you if you have Stage Fright..."

Amayla was too busy cracking her knuckles to hear the MC offer her a chance to back out. As if they would back out now. She had way too much fun in the first 'challenge' to even consider the thought. She was slightly disappointed that she wasn't going to be fighting more humans. Humans were so easy. All she got was a stupid lake. Please.
And then the 'mystery' of the three different doors. Those popped up everywhere, Amayla noted. Something to do with people's foolish fear of the unknown.
The two girls snatched a glance at the murky waters, then decided to do what they always do before combat. Almost out of habit, they searched with their minds to see what was under there, absently wondering if it was something sentient. A primitive fish would be too easy to overwhelm.
Amayla never even thought that she was being over confident. She could manipulate the second most powerful thing on the earth, so what did she have to fear?

Amayla was a fan favorite, simply because it was difficult to discern exactly what her gift was. Her opponents behaved so strangely in Stage I, attacking each other and randomly bursting into tears, that the majority of viewers seemed to be intrigued by her, rather than bored or confused. Families at home crowded around their televisions, eager to see what the young blonde would do next.
The MC, too, was excited to see Amayla tackle Stage II, even though he nearly peed himself watching her destroy her guards. "What's the matter, Amy? Getting cold feet?" He boomed, hoping to rouse her into action, or at least, action he and the audience would be aware of.
While the audience and the announcer believed her to be standing idly by, she was truly searching the depths of the pool with her mind, should there be anything unfriendly lurking beneath the surface. She would find a number of lifeforms dwelling near the bottom of the murky pool, but they didn't appear to be terribly intelligent; their thoughts were simply "food" and "sleep." They didn't seem to have any idea that there was someone on the shore about to enter their habitat, and thus they remained peaceful and unaware.

Amayla was rather disappointed that there was nothing to mess with in the pool. Just boring fish, and boring fish were so... boring. Amayla figured that at the very least, one of them might make a good snack.
The demons' smile grew wide after that thought. Monster Energy had just unwittingly supplied Amy and Kayla with a pool of life force just waiting to be absorbed. Presumably the main hurdle here was trying to endure all three of the challenges behind the doors, but for Amy and Kayla it would be no problem.
Encouraged by this happy thought, and by the MC's jeering, Amayla gave a tinkling little laugh and cartwheeled into the murky water filled with fish.

"And Amy's back in the game!" The MC announced cheerfully as she cartwheeled into the pool, secretly hoping that her top would fly off as she did. There was something very appealing to him about the demon women in the competition; they were very powerful, very strong-willed, and at the same time, very feminine. Just how he liked his women! Sure, it might be a little weird if his buddies found out, since they looked pretty young, but hey, they could be 500 years old for all he knew!
The 'fish' in the water scattered along the bottom as she splashed into the pool, then curiously swam toward her. They were inspecting her, entirely unaware just how dangerous she was.
The closest key was about 5 feet away, glowing a faint golden, but she wouldn't see it unless she swam over it, or opened her eyes. And she couldn't get to it unless she swam through a large number of curious-looking fishlike creatures.

Amayla opened their eyes as soon as they hit the freezing lake water, and soon regretted it. The water was not clean pool water, but pond water teeming with life and stinging their eyes. Stinging or not, however, Amayla fought to keep them open in any case. Even a blurry, painful image of the murky waters was better than no image at all.
Amayla could see enough to tell that there was some gold, glowing thing near her. Gold, shiny things were always good in competition. It was only common sense, after all. Amayla could also see that her way was blocked by a school of vague, fish like shapes.
Kayla briefly considered having a fish now. They had had a light lunch after all. Amy would have none of it though. We're going to need these little guys later. Besides, we don't want to get fat.
[red]That's not how it works[/red]
Yeah, but it's the principal of the thing
Kayla sighed and relented. The girls sent out a probing thought towards one of the smaller looking blobs. The fish didn't seem too dangerous, but the girls wanted to show off more than anything.
Amayla searched for a female fish, and then lightly suggested that it was time to start exuding pheromones. They figured that the fish wouldn't be hard to manipulate, and she was working with the most basic of instincts. She also suggested that the fish swim to the other side of the lake to begin a mating ritual.
If that worked, Amayla would grab the key and swim with a perfect breaststroke up and out of the water.

(Tricky! My reply is based on Amayla's targeting of a female fish, meaning only one. Let me know if this post needs editing.)
The female 'fish' that Amayla targeted fell easily to her mental suggestion, and swam obediently to the other side of the pool, taking a large number of curious male 'fish' with her. Within moments, only three rather confused females remained near the key. When Amayla reached out to grab the glittering golden key, the fish draw backward in alarm. They didn't know who she was, or what she was doing in their little pond, but they did know she was way too close. Just as the young demoness closed her hand around the key, the trio of eels would each release an electric shock.

Amy had to stifle a laugh. Guys were just so stupid. And not just in fish either. Perhaps a little too confident, she grabbed the key, not caring about the other fish. So of course, she was more than just a little surprised when the eels fried her. The girls froze, paralyzed for a few seconds under the water. Then they shot up to the surface before another shock could be delivered.
Of course, the girls wouldn't keep it at that. Kayla rather forcefully probed each of the fish's minds, and suddenly the fish were swimming in air. Kayla put the illusion into their head of choking, of the need to get water. Of course, the mind demoness couldn't possibly override such a basic function as breathing... but what she attempted would be almost as real. She injected into the fish's mind that the only way to get water was on the dry land she was standing on.
Assuming she was successful, Amayla would (slowly and painfully) feast on the dying fish.

Ever obedient, the eels swam to the surface of the pool and flung themselves upon the shore. They struggled to take in oxygen, but alas, they could only extract it from water, and they were dying. Confused, they flopped helplessly around the shore, hoping that somehow they'd soon be breathing normally like they were supposed to.
"Amy has the first key, ladies and gentleman, and in such a short amount of time! Can the other contestants match her speed?"
In their living rooms, Amayla's fans cheered. Though many of them didn't know how she lured the eels onto the shore, or even that she did lure the eels onto the shore, they did know she got that key awful fast!
"Let's see what's behind those doors, Amy!"

Amayla took an eel in each hand, and started sucking the precious life force out of them, wanting to dry them completely out of everything they had. She did not appreciate being shocked, and was quite upset that her clever plan was less than perfect. She systematically drained all the fish, then, bounding with new energy, jumped over to the door.
Always the performer, Amayla shouted back to the MC in her best game show voice. "And behind door number one is..." Amayla threw the door open dramatically, peering into the darkness to see her first challenge.
