She left the classroom half-running, and had made it a good ways down the hall before someone called out to her. She stopped immediately, curious and puzzled.
Someone followed me? Why?
Her first thought was that maybe it was stupid Karmine come to apologize to her. In her mind it was obvious what the tutor had done to upset her. How couldn't he know? But she knew Karmine's voice, and that wasn't it. She was disappointed, but relieved; she wasn't sure she wanted to deal with him at all. Just look at what just happened!
That explaination aside, she had no idea who it was, or why they'd wandered after her. She stopped and glanced over her shoulder for an explanation. Cylo? With her cloak?
She gave him a suspicious glance he wouldn't be able to see from under her tangled red hair. She let it down and shook it in her face shortly after she left, shielding her tearing eyes from anyone who might be walking past.
With a sigh or a sniffle she grudgingly walked back to her classmate, gaze focused on the ground ahead as she moved. When she was about arms-width away from him, she held out her hands, expecting that he hand the cloak over.
"T-thanks?" She squeaked out, staring intently at his feet.

Kara listened intently to Karmine when he spoke, although she looked as though she were completely bored out of her skull. When he said that he wanted them to pair up, her eyes followed the two girls who immediately buddied together. Then her eyes landed on Locke, and with the quietest of sighs, she stepped out of her hiding place at the back of the room and walked forward to stand next to Locke, surprisingly not tripping over anything.
She realized she missed introductions. That was fine with her, Karmine didn't seem too disappointed. His reminder that this class was not mandatory was indeed tempting - she obviously didn't want to be here. But she had paid for this class, even if it had been a last minute check off the check box because she had one more elective to choose and she didn't want to waste her precious little savings by being lazy.
Giving Locke a fleeting look of acknowledgement, the frail brunette found her way to the weapons and examined each one carefully. She had no idea what weapon would suit her, and half of them were too heavy for her to even consider. She didn't want anything small and pointy - she had bad experiences with those in the past. Kara needed a weapon that wouldn't hurt her if she accidentally fell on it.
She was having difficulty finding one that suited her. When she saw a weapon that looked like a silver stake, the teenager quickly passed it. Hovering around the weapons wasn't going to magically put one in her hand, she knew this, but she knew nothing about weapons. She didn't have a favourite, she only knew that her preference did not include that silver stake.
Kara grew more anxious as she looked over the entire weapon's cache a second time, still indecisive. She glanced over at Karmine fleetingly before looking back at the weapons. What would he say?

Locke seemed to be having a similar problem himself. He looked over the weapons and wondered, among other things, what he should do. He'd never fought in his life, he'd never entertained and idea of fighting ever, so what was he to do now?
He looked to Kara and back at Karmine, well Kennedy DID say that Karmine was good with hopeless cases...
"Ummm, Sir?" He asked, not really wanting to be the first one to talk. "I'm not sure what I would be good at here...I've never really fought before..." He said, gesturing to the weapons.
Well it was true, while he'd gotten into fights, he never had been the one doing the fighting.

Karmine nodded as he listened to the young boy with the odd appendages. Probably a demon, but a demon who didn't fight? Well, he supposed he might have found willing donors for his Legion.
"And you?" He asked Kara. "Havin' a similar problem? Well in any event, that's what ahm here fer." He said stepping over to the weapons.
"Now..." He said gesturing to Locke. "A big weapon'd be a bad choice fer ya, bein that yer the runt o' the litter and all. So ahm thinking something light, mobile, and maybe with a bit o' range to it. Don't imagine ya like getting into tha thick o things, eh?" He glanced over the weapon rack and chuckled when he saw something, and it fit his description. And it was only a mere moment before he laughed uproariously.
And then he handed Locke a small whip, still grinning. "Nothing against you." He added with a smile. "I jus find it funny that I have a teacher far better then I fer that weapon. I'll call em up for ya, you'll learn alot from em. Now, that there weapon is pretty damn handy. It can disarm, trip, get around guards an such, and relies on the strength of wrist instead of body, so someone like ya, who I'd believe writes alot if I had ta guess, would prolly be able to get the wrist motions down pretty easy. Add to that it gives ya a nice little bit o' range too."
He looked to Kara who seemed similarly lost. "Having some trouble eh? Well then tell me what ya think you'd like inna weapon. I know types ya prolly never heard of, so don't think of a weapon yerself, just think of how ya'd wanna fight. In close,or far away? Solid or flexible? Strength or speed? Things like that, I can help ya."

Kara just nodded when Karmine asked if she was in a similar situation as Locke. When he picked out a whip for the boy, she cringed. That would smart if she let herself get hit by it, and chances were she wouldn't be able to get out of the way.
Emotionlessly she listened to him ask her preferences, and she replied without hesitation, "Something foolproof," Kara already knew he'd be able to pick something she could carry, so she elaborated a bit, "I need something that won't hurt me. I'm not very co-ordinated."
She eyed the whip in Locke's hand again, then turned her attention back to the various weapons spread out before them. Her eyes then flicked over to Morgan and Eve, then back to Karmine. Kara looked a little jumpy, but she kept her anxiety to herself and suffered silently.

It looked like class was going full swing, and it was time for Morgan and Eve to show off a little. As near as Morgan could tell, they were the two best students here. Not saying much, with the current student body. But Morgan couldn't help but feel pleased at her current circumstance, and eagerly anticipated showing off.
"Alright, here we go!" she yelled. She gave the staff another spin, then stepped forward, lunging toward Eve with the weighted end. It clearly wasn't meant to actually damage the war dragon even if it hit. A good feint, a test of Eve's reactions mostly. It would be fun to see how the two of them did against one another. Though Morgan had the advantage, having already seen Eve practicing.
She did glance at Locke, hoping the kid would be alright. Maybe Eve and Morgan could give him some pointers when they were done sparrign.

At Morgan's excited yell she raised her eyebrows at the girl as if it to say "Really? A war cry? So sad." She grinned and easily knocked aside the half a**ed attack, or it felt that way to her. From what she could remember the girl could certainly fight better than this.
"Is the staff your specialty? Or do you just like long hard things?" Eve gave Morgan a joking grin as she started evalauting her situation while moving around the girl . Long staff, short swords. This ought to be fun. Now figuring out how to get close enough to do some damage or at least get a hit would be a tad difficult. At first she was just going to see how fast the girl could move that stick.
Moving quickly she attempted to get close enough to get close enough to strike at Morgan's arm while trying to keep an eye on her weapon.

"Somethin fool proof eh? No such thing sweatheart, hate ta break it to ya. But maybe somethin easy to use...hmmm."
He looked among the racks. Something easy to use, easy to use.
"I think..." He said. "That you will follow in the footsteps of the last student I had who had no co-ordination." Plucking a long staff from the rack.
"Simple. Effective. And dangerous if you know what ya are doing, granted any weapon is." He said giving it a spin and lobbing it to her. Maybe she could catch it, that'd be a good start over Angela.

Locke scowled quite obviously when Karmine made the cat joke, like he hadn't heard it a million times before. But before he knew it the teacher had thrown a leather whip at him, giving his reasons for it. The reasons made sense, he supposed, and he could follow the logic for them. He then took the whip in his hand and examined it. For all he could see it was just a length of leather cord, with the handle and tip the only parts that were different.
He was angry at the tutor for that joke, but he was moving so quick he couldn't seem to hold on to his anger, instead waiting to see what would be instructed to him next.

Yes! Smack talk! Morgan could definitely get into that. She grinned even as she began reacting to Eve's movements.
"I'm pretty much good at handling anything," she retorted. The staff jerked sideways, intercepting the sword, "though I do happen to like long hard things."
She smiled slyly, flicking the weighted end of her staff up, trying to connect with Eve's side. As she did so, she nimbly danced back, ready to take whatever Eve tried to dish out next.
"I thought you were supposed to be good at fighting. A sword sword versus a staff? You trying to lose or you just want to make me look good," Morgan glanced around, then smirked at Eve, "my boyfriend's not around."

{Grr, haha I remember why I delayed this. I started a post then had to leave asap. Oh, also Angie caught her hanbo, I'm pretty sure. She's a ditz but not a clutz. She was on the school teams and could catch. }
Kara bristled at being called 'sweetheart'. But she didn't have much time to be sour over it, as something was flying her way. Swatting automatically in a self-defensive block, the stick hit the back of her knuckles, bruising the pale skin instantly upon contact. The weapon clattered noisily as it collided with a desk and then rattled to the floor until it came to a complete stand-still. Kara didn't dare reach for it until it stopped moving, and she was very careful not to move her feet (as she would have certainly found a way to kick it across the room if she had).
Grimacing as she gripped it awkwardly with her injured hand, the skinny brunette tried holding it like she'd seen baseball players hold their bats. Her feet were practically glued together; she had no stance, and her hands were much too far apart, and she had her right hand on top. Kara was left-handed.
But I don't know what I'm doing, she thought miserably to herself. This class was going to hurt more than just her tarnished pride.

Karmine grinned, Angela MKII it looked like.
"All right than, let's fix the obvious problems. If ya gonna learn that, ya gotta know that basics first." Karmine himself picked up a stick and walked over to her, lightly tapping the inside of one of her legs, as if to prod it.
"Widen ya stance, yer feet so close tagether like tha will make ya fall easier. Keep it about shoulder wide." He instructed. "Second, ya ain't using a club, but that's how ya holding it." Karmine quickly pulled a small marker from the desk and drew two blue lines on her stick, roughly 6" from the center on each side. "Grip it on the outside of each blue line, I should be able ta see em, but yer hands need ta be touchin' em. Left hand palm up, right hand fist up. Yer right handed right? If not, reverse that last one. Take a second and make sure ya got that right. Double check it all when ya sure."
He heard Morgan and Eve's combat banter and laughed. That was interesting to listen too, and it seemed that both of them would be exceptional students. He then strolled back to the young demon boy holding the whip as if disgusted with it.
"Kay, your first lesson is gonna be crackin' it. The way a whip is used is with a swift motion, an then quickly changing the motion with a very simple movement. If ya do it right, it makes the whip crack, like this." He pulled aside another whip and let it soar through the air in a smooth motion, and then pulled his wrist sharply. The whip changed direction rapidly, jumping up upon itself and a loud crack filled the room.
"That sound." He said, pulling the whip back to himself. "Is how ya know your doing it right. Now watch my wrist and arm this time, it's important to get that motion down."
Once again the whip ripped through the air, cracking loudly. Karmine turned to Locke this time. "Did ya see that?"

She grinned at Morgan glad the girl was willing to go along with the playful egging between fighters. The fact that Morgan had blocked her didn't surprise her it excited her and made her grin wider. She loved a good fight.
"Long hard things are nice, but I prefer something that cuts." At the last word she sprinted forward using one blade to knock aside the staff aimed at her side, though it had gotten rather close. The other blade she used to slash at her as she twisted her body to get closer to Morgan. Once the balde was swung she sweeped her leg at Morgan's to try to either trip her or at least distract her enough to strike at her again. Maybe actually hit her for once.
"Aw, shucks. I so wanted to test the boy to see if he was worth such a fiesty fighter." Eve crossed her blades in a slash at the girl. "But I'm sure you wouldn't want me damaging your lover boy."
Why did she pick swords again?

"Something that cuts, like tongue for example?" teased Morgan. She hadn't paid close enough attention, and almost took the other blade. Even her dodge hadn't been total: a nice slash was apparent in her shirt.
Stupid sharp weapons. Even if they were coated in some strange healing agent, that could still hurt.
She'd been so caught up in the weapons that she almost missed the leg sweep. Fortunately she caught on quick enough, and lightly skipped over. this put her entirely too close to those crossed blades, and she knew she'd have to move carefully. She flicked the staff, putting it between her and sharp points. then she performed a basic Jeet Kun Do move: pulling.
Holding the staff in one hand, she used the other to pull Eve's shoulder, darting past the war dragon and hopefully pushing her further away from Morgan. This would put Morgan in a position to use her staff properly, and hopefully not get more clothing cut.
"I'd probably have to fight for him," agreed Morgan, turning. "He's not all that feisty. I'll leave that to your lovers."

(ooc. I was waiting for other people to post...)
Eve gritted her teeth in frustration, she'd almost gotten the girl that last time. The talking was fun but it was distracting. "Tongue? Not nearly sharp enough, or at least your's isn't."
As she was pulled past the girl she bit her lip to keep from making any noise. She tucked and rolled coming up blades ready to block or attack. The girl was good, and she'd have to be careful not to get to aggressive. Not for the sake of the girl but for the sake of not shifting. That would be bad and embarassing.
"Fight for him? Then he's certainly not worth you. Unless he can fight with something more than swords, or fists." As Morgan was turning she came at her again trying a new tactic of force rather than speed. Maybe she could just break the spear and make things easier. "I don't have lovers. So you'll have to deal with fighting me."
She was not counting Rae. It was too soonto count her. For she was far too confused on that yet to count the lycan rocker.
