The music softly drifted over the streets. It was odd, to find a musician in such a town as Masonville. He probably had something to do with the Academy, or perhaps he was simply traveling through town. Masonville might be nothing more than a small stop on his greater journey. Regardless, he was here, now, playing his soulful tune.
Sophia leaned against a bench, eyes closed. If normal humans could enjoy the fullness of sounds and the rich undertones of music, vampires enjoyed it even more. Sophia understood the tones, the inflections, the very soul of the music. Rich tones rang within her very soul. Listening to the musician's thoughts only enriched the experience further.
Sophia parted her lips slightly, drinking in the night air. The coolness of fall lingered on her lips, and she could almost feel the delicate tremble of the guitar. Truly, this was an experience worthy of relish.
When you lived for centuries, you had to take new experiences as they came, and enjoy what you could. Music tapped into the primal part of Sophia's soul, and even now, she could enjoy it.

"Hey. Is that my streetcorner you're playing on?" A voice queried of the far-off musician, soft and gently playful. It's owner sat not far from Sophia, on a bench - no - atop a bench; sitting on a bench was far too commonplace for him.
He was a curious man, in both manner and appearance. His hair was long, shoulder-length, and a shocking purple. It was tied back in a low ponytail...or something that may have once been a low ponytail. The tie was only barely holding anything back, after being beaten by the wind all day and night, and strands of hair hid his eyes. His clothing was nothing special, but rather out of season; a long-sleeved blue top, khaki shorts and dark brown sandals. He didn't seem to mind the wind's chilling bite.
"We can play a duet, you and I. Let us combine our passions for our great love! And for life!" He lifted his own instrument, a violin that had once belonged to his father, and laid it gently on his lap. Of all the instruments he had come to play, that one was his first and most loved. He stroked it's length with slender fingers, gently waking it from it's slumber.
"We will be lovers, though we are strangers, if only for this moment. The stars themselves will be dazzled by our performance. No, I don't mind that Masonville is loved by musicians tonight!"
So enthralled by the sound of music in the air, and the presence of a kindred spirit was he, that he didn't notice the music-loving vampiress standing not far away.

The irritating noise nearly ruined the moment for Sophia. She winced at the man's overloud voice and his overloud thoughts. The temptation to shove an overpowering thought at him, rendering him speechless, was nearly overwhelming. But the bit about being a fellow musician saved him from the vampiress's wrath.
Naturally only a musician could have that much passion. It was almost anathema to Sophia, though fortunately was not her anathema. That was a secret she was keeping to herself. Not information to be leaked, even thought of, when not in private.
Her eyes opened, the golden orbs seeking the loud man. She was not surprised to find his appearance as loud as his words and thoughts. Again the revulsion twisted her stomach, and again she fought it down, swallowing hard. The physical reminder aided her mental exercise.
"I sincerely doubt he minds," she spoke, waving at the already playing musician. "He's nearly enthralled in his actions."
Her eyes bored into the new musician, willing him to simply shut up and play.
