Garion tried to take that all in, although it didn't sound simple at all. Garion sighed, and didn't know what to say, watching the winding down game of DDR. He itched to do something, but he wasn't going to go back on the DDR pad again; he learned from that particular adventure. Out of pure boredom, he made his energy drink bottle do a few backflips into a nearby trash can.
"I've often wondered about the limits of my Gift. I mean, say I develop my goft so that I can do things with greater strength.. would I be able to hover places by supporting my weight all the time? Hardly practical... but interesting."

It was easy for Morgan to recognize restlessness when she saw it. Garion was fidgeting, and flipping bottles into trash cans. But he kept talking, so it didn't look like he wanted to do something else anytime soon.
Still, Morgan had to smile. She would have a shorter attention span than the nine year old genius.
"Probably not," she guessed, "I mean, you get tired, right? I'd say you could do it most of time. I've seen fliers, and they don't go around flying all the time. My brother said it didn't feel right."
She shrugged, "I wouldn't know for sure though. At least my Gift's a lot easier for me to understand, explanation or no."
Morgan grinned again at Garion, then rose to her feet. Sitting too long always bugged her, and she was beginning to want another crack at DDR. Or something.
"You wanna go for a walk or something? That's if you still wanna talk. I'm getting antsy," she jerked a thumb at the flashing arrows, "and that's looking more and more tempting."

Garion breathed a sigh of relief. The room was getting stuffy and packed with people. "Yes... a walk would be excellent." He sprung to his feet and realised his right leg had fallen asleep. With a yelp of pain and suprise, he steadied himself with his chair.
"Anyway..." Garion continued as if nothing extremely embarassing and attention drawing had happened. "I agree it would be tiring... and hard to control. Could you imagine concentrating on 'Hover, Hover, avoid person, turn, hover' all the time?"
Garion stretched his arms, finally releasing the chair as soon as feeling rushed back into his leg. someone immediatly flopped down into the unused chair, and Garion knew that now there was no choice but to take a walk... or something.
Not that he minded... after all, the average person would have walked away by now rather than listen to him prattle away about power theory.

Good, it looked like Garion was agreeing to the walk. Then again, Morgan hadn't really given him a whole lot of choice. Oh well, it's over and done with now.
"Probably be a pain in the butt," agreed Morgan, nodding, "I'm betting that's why you don't see people flying either. I mean, the whole feeling thing is something, but this makes a bit more sense."
She grinned, looking down at the kid. Was he really nine or so? He acted as intelligent as Morgan did, if not more so. If he wasn't an Edengrowth, Morgan would truly be surprised.
"You're oddly intelligent for your age, no offense," she said, "I mean, you're telekinetic, but that doesn't make you smart too. You're lucky."
of course, this was coming from someone who was a physical genius on top of having the Gift for it, but she wasn't about to brag to a nine-year old.

"Lucky... is one way to put it." Garion's face darkened a bit. "Although most would view me as a freak. After all, I was effectiveley robbed of my childhood. Anyway, why else would they allow me to be here?" Garion's face brightned again. "So.. have anywhere in mind? I'm fine with pretty much any where."
Garion silently hoped that she wouldn't opt for the Library. Garion wasn't going back there anytime soon.

"Call it lucky. People who think poorly of themselves never get anywhere," Morgan pointed out. She frowned for a few moments, obviously remembering something. It didn't last long though, a shake of the head and she was back to normal. "You make the most of what you've got. Though I think you're pretty much doing that anyway."
She shrugged, and started for the door. Her pace was slower than it would be normally, so as not to leave the shorter Garion behind. "I was thinking Grounds. I'm probably going to want to take a run or something; too keyed up now. And I always want to fight someone whenever I head to the training center."
She chuckled, thinking about the last few times she'd headed down there. Mostly to spar with dragons and faeries. This school was amazing.
"And you'd wind up here anyway, what with your Gift and all," offered Morgan. "So you got here a bit sooner, big deal. Just means you'll get to leave a few years younger than the rest of us."
Pragmatism and Morgan Cavan went hand in hand.

Garion smiled at Morgan's optimism. "Yeah.. I guess you're right." He laughed, a sound naturally brought out by Morgan's demeanor. He just followed Morgan, not really needing to know where they were going. He looked around for another topic.
"You know what movie I've never liked? Carrie. How that slipped through the government's fingers, I'll never know. I mean, increased fear of the Gifted much?"
Plus I could think of a hundred more ways to kill someone with telekenisis. Garion added silently.

"That movie must bug you something awful," agreed Morgan, nodding. She'd seen a few films herself. Like many of the Gifted, she'd gone to see the X-men films, and proceed to laugh and laugh. Of course, everyone had been interested in the idea of removing Gifts, but most didn't want to think about it. Morgan absolutely loved hers, and couldn't see why anyone would want to be normal.
"Sometimes I wonder if Gifted haven't leaked through and started writing films and novels," she mused. "King, for example. Was he, like, a telepath or something? Or are they just really lucky? You gotta wonder sometimes. Especially when they get so close to the truth."
Another thing that no one really wanted to think about. This conversation seemed to dance around that subject. It needed changed, and fast.
"So, what do you do for fun? You strike me as being the book-reading and video game playing type," she just outright said it, no maliciousness in her tone.

Garion smiled. " Aw, shucks. I'm jus' your average book reading, video game playin' , homework doin', grammar correctin', stamp collectin, calculator fondling nerd, don't ya know!" Garion let the accent fade.
"But seriously? Well, I love to read, yes. I have little interest in video games, considering my parents are really strict about them and I'm not old enough to play teen rated games. I'll play when given the chance, like now. I am actually pretty good, as my one friend back in the day had just about everything."
"Other than that, I'm up for anything, really. Anything not too physically challenging. Board games are fun, and I like to swim, go shopping (purely for the company), and talk to people."
"Oh, and long walks on the beach." Garion chuckled.
"How about you? You don't strike me as much of a book reading, video game playing person. More of a 'If it invovles running, walking, jumping or dodging, count me in' type of person."

"Cut me some slack," protested Morgan, grinning, "you didn't exactly excel at the physical stuff, and you're probably smarter than I am. So it's easy to think 'books' and video games."
She took a deep breath, locking her hands together and shifting them behind her head. "You pretty much pegged me. Never was much for subterfuge. Two black belts and I've been in Junior Olympics and a National Fighting Championship."
Oddly enough, Morgan managed to say all this without bragging. The way she said it put it right up there with book reading and socializing. "I do read though, believe it or not. Mostly Jane Austen books. And I love video games."
She stuck her tongue out at Garion, then ruffled his hair. "C'mon, I'm clearly just a cute tomboy. You should've been smart enough to figure that out."

Garions hair was more ruffled than it had ever been. "Yes, an' I'm just a widdle kid." Garions eyes widned and his face turned completeley innocent, then reverted back.
"Heh. if I've learned one thing in this school, it's that no one is 'just' anything. Unless you count 'Just Evil'"
Garion was still deeply scarred by THAT particular encounter.
"I think I've figured out a way to beat you in DDR. Punch myself. And then you'd punch YOURSELF but harder."

"There are a handful of people who seem to be made of pure, distilled evil, huh?" agreed Morgan. The way Garion said it made it sound as if he had someone particular in mind, which made Morgan wonder just who the poor kid had run into before her. Not everyone could be lucky enough to encounter someone sympathetic and understanding, after all. Morgan did know of the mega-b**ches and bast**ds that roamed these halls.
"I'd like to think there's something good inside all of us, but I've met too many nasty people to think that," mused Morgan, "some people just suck."
she nodded, then grinned at Garion, chuckling at his humor. "Yeah, sure. It doesn't work quite like that Mr. Smarty-pants. Don't make me beat you up and steal your lunch money, because I totally will."

Garion could only nod. Then laugh at the banter Morgan offered.
"Only if you want said money telekenetically stuffed up your nose." Garion blinked as the two walked out of the Dormitory building and into the sun. A small croud of people formed a circle around something. As the two drew closer, he realised he was witnessing a fight between a Pyrokenetic and a Hydromancer.
A fireball flew towards the Hydromancers face, only for it to be extinguished with a blast of water that knocked the Pyrokenetic off his feet. The Pyro threw flames at dizzying speeds, singing his opponent.

"If it's up my nose, I still get it," Morgan pointed out. "Win-win."
She couldn't ignore the flamboyant fight, and watched it with evident interest. Flames, water and steam filled the air, and you could smell burnt ozone. Not to mention the hisses and pops of the two opposite elements colliding with one another.
"You know, it's times like this when I wish I had a flashy Gift. Mine's is cool and all but..." she paused, watching flames jet from the ground, only to be barely extinguished by bubbles, "that's just so cool to watch."
She shrugged, "I guess I just have a thing for watching pretty things. Probably some squirrel DNA in my family tree or something."
She smiled down at Garion, then looked up at the fight again. "Do fights between telekinetics look like two people attempting to c**p? I haven't gotten to see one yet, but that's how i always pictured it."

Garion gave Morgan a crooked smile. "And just how would squirrel DNA get in your family tree? On second thought, don't answer that." Garion dodged a jet of boiling water. "And how do you get less cool to watch than a girl who canwal clib, back flip behind you, drop cick you and land with a perfect split?"
Morgan's last comment made Garion just aall out break into gales of laughter. He doubled over, still laughing, actually making the two fighters stop and stare at him for a minute, offended. Through his laughter, Garion choked out "Taking... ha... a... crap..ohmigod....."
But the two elementals, who hadn't heard the conversation untiil the laughter and Garion's last sentance, were already gathering up balls of fire and water.
