Eve took many deep breaths to make sure she actually heard the words coming out of his mouth. For having screamed earlier he was acting rather calm just now. Him being calm to her intimidations made her smile and the boy just jumped up three knocks on her latter. Eve dropped her arms and flopped back onto her butt hands, eyes, and teeth slowly going back to normal. Just because she was a war dragon didn't mean the only way to get her attention or respect was by violence.
"So I'm doomed to be eternally stupid." Just as she had been told her whole life. Sighing she rolled back her head cursing herself for getting that excited for something not attainable. She would just stick to what she was good at then. It would have been nice to be smart though.
"I know strategy but intelligent people always seem so damn calm." She waved at him in example. "If I can stay calm while fighting I might be able to win more. And...you don't understand how important it is I win." Eve didn't sound depressed she was disappointed and a bit urgent. She had to win, or die. She wasn't ready to die.
"Focus on? I don't even know where to start let alone what to focus on." Glancing down she saw where she hit the ground and found a very small dint barely noticable. Then she got an idea. "What's your favorite subject? I could start there. If you mind that is." Adding that last bit as an after thought she turned human eyes to him her voice still gruff and slightly demanding.

"Calm?" Locke echoed. Calm was not the word he would ever use to describe this women, or any OTHER war dragon for that matter. He was lost on any ideas to help her, which he now felt like doing. She was trying to change herself and trying to fight past what was probably hundreds of years of ingrained behavior. It wasn't until she asked what he was interested in that he got a brainstorm.
He looked down at the book he was holding, a book of water control and it's properties. And she wanted to be calm and strong at the same time.
Water...when it lays still it can be calm and smooth, but when it needs to it can force upon things with the power to destroy instantly. Like water...but how do I convey that to her in a way she understands..?
"Smart people are calm because they already have a good idea what is happening, but maybe it isn't intelligence you want, but that control over your...emotions."
Locke had never met a woman who could control her emotions, but he thought it unwise to say that.
"To teach you to be calm, though...that I can do, I think." Locke said. "I thought of one way to test it, but it's a rather big step for a start. Though I doubt you'd want to start anything slow."

She nodded when he repeated calm as a question. It was odd for most to think a war dragon wanted to be calm but that's what she wanted. Her parents seemed calm or were they more bored than calm? They no longer had to fight to earn their position in the village, occasioanlly a cocky young dragon messed with her father but she had yet to see him fall.
"Okay, so I need to control my emotions." That was not going to be easy, anger, hate, and rage she just didn't know how to tame. Happiness, tears, those were easy, excitment was harder but not as hard as rage. Blinking she tried to remember the last time she had cried. Lost in her rememberings she barely heard him suggest something.
"What? Test me, please. I swear upon my ancestors bone I will not harm you." She might wreck everything else in the vacinity but she refused to harm one who looked fresh from the egg.
"I have to learn." Eve paused and realized that if he was indeed going to teach her she should probably know his name and he hers. "Oh, the name's Eve. What's yours?" She stood holding her hand out to him remembering the gesture from some movie she'd watched once with a human.

He was about to give her the 'test' he had devised, devilish as it was, when she asked for his name. She only had a first name, he wondered why. It might have been some War Dragon thing, you don't get your family name until you are the strongest in your family or something like that. He simply wrote it off.
"I am..." He paused for a second, considering using a fake name. No, he would be honest with her. Not like it would be hard to find a boy with cat ears. "Locke, Locke Herald....nice to meet you Eve."
He grabbed her hand and made sure to hold firmly, so that she didn't see it as a sign of weakness. He may not be brave, but he could act it at least.
"In any event, the little test I thought up is a little...unorthodox, but I realized something. People develop the ability to stay calm when they are in a situation they don't like that they can't easily get away from. Therefor..."
"I want you to go downtown, there is a small bar there named 'The Cave'." He was taking this information from hear-say, and from Kennedy Cavan saying that the rock star Raelena St. John ran the best bar/club downtown. He'd also said a bit more of her mannerisms and...preferences. The way she acted, this should be a perfect test.
"Someone there will find you, I have no doubt of that, and you have to interact with them without resorting to violence, threats or rudeness. If you can manage to restrain yourself in such a hostile environment, well then it won't be difficult for you at all to contain your emotions."
Locke shrugged slightly. "With others I might have gone easier, but I was under the impression that your type preferred going for broke right from the get go."

"I'm warning you, I'm horrible with names." She said shaking his hand and grinned almost laughing at his attempt of a strong grip. Kid was adorable made her think of a silver dragon hatchling. Eve listened to his test and he was right, it was unorthoxed. She was pretty sure she knew what that word meant anyway.
"All I have to do is show up, and this person will find me and try to piss me off?" This could be very bad, but she was willing to try. "How will you know if I suceeded or not? I could just lie to you." Again the intimidating stance and facial expression.
"Okay, no need to go easy on me. I'm a big lizard now. I can take care of myself." What kind of person could this be if this was a big test? How did the kid know that this person would find her anyway? A bar that meant she should probably brush her hair or something like that. At least it wasn't a club then she'd have to dress up, and she just didn't do that.

"Not so much try to make you angry. But she probably will anyway if I think right. And what would it matter to me if you cheated or not? You would only be cheating yourself." Locke said very simply.
"Oh she will find you." Locke said vaguely. In truth he wasn't sure if Eve and Rae would get along, having never met Rae. After all, from Kennedy's depiction she was violent and aggressive too, but people like that tended to rub the wrong way on each other.
This would be a great chance for her to restrain herself, or would end terribly for everyone involved.
Which was precisely why Locke wasn't going himself. He nodded simply to himself.
"Yes I think this will work quite well." He said to nobody in particular.

To say Eve was excited was an understatement. She loved challenges and would probably go straight to the Cave as soon as she was able to. It was a she?
"I'm gonna be meeting a girl?" Okay, that was odd. She was expecting some egotistical male or something. Some jerk who sexually mistreated women or was chauvenistic or well not a girl. Now she was so excited she might very well go right after she was done talking with the boy.
"Okay, is there any hints? Like how should I act, dress, and should I be prepared for her to, um, I dunno." She didn't want to go into this half a**ed, it was like going into a battle blind folded. Though she had done that once and it had been a blast.

"Well...." Locke thought, looking at her for the first time really. "You are trying to be found, so you don't want to blend in with the crowd. But this is about controlling yourself so you can't run in shouting and screaming and making lots of noise, that's not calm at all." But he needed to make certain that the right person would find her.
"You probably know more about fashion then I do, actually I speak that as a guarantee." He said. "So use your best judgment, how would you stand out?"
He wished he could help her more, but having never met the rock star, it was kind of hard to distinguish the assumptions from the guesses.

Her? Have good fashion? Eve burst into laughter knowing full well what her wardrobe consisted of. None of it being fashionable at all. Not that she cared, it was something to cover her body that's all.
"Fashion? I don't own a dress. Never worn one. I own hand me downs from boys. Plus I haven't a clue where my brush is." She pointed at her knotty hair and the fact that she didn't wear make-up and owned black eyeliner and that was it. The only jewelry she owned she slept on. Well, she did at home anyway.
"What kind of person am I dealing with? Should I wear my tightest pants and leather jacket? Or like dress like the tom boy that I am?" Her tightest pair of pants came from one of her older brother's who was so skinny it was sad, but they fit her pretty well. She saved them for special occasions only. The way she'd stand out would be to deck the first guy to grope her then laugh about it. But she was sure that wasn't what the kid had in mind.

"See, that is the bad part." Locke said, now quite relaxed since he had figured Eve out, at least a little bit. "If I told you what you were getting into, you'd be prepared for it, and that would make it far less effective. Though I would advise you to find a soothing thought to focus on, maybe something that makes you relaxed."
Was she still asking him about what to wear? How would he know? "I really have no idea in that regard, but I do know that your people tend to stick out rather easily, just by your posture and body language, so I don't think it will be too difficult to be located. Just remember to 'bite your tongue' as the saying goes."
He sat back down on the floor again, where he was reading. "After you've done this, we'll discuss what happened and move from there, agreed?"

Never had liked the whole go out to get attention thing her expression turned sour her arms crossing over her chest. This wasn't going to be like ripping into someone for calling you ugly or stupid. This was going to be hard. Her mind was racing at the different possibilities, scenarios, and the kind of person she would be dealing with. Along with that her mind was trying to go through her wardrobe and not coming up with much of anything "attention getting" to wear.
"Soothing to focus on, okay, soothing." Pausing to think of something soothing. "What they hell do people think about that's soothing?" She yelled throwing her hands up in the air her eyes searching for something to break other than the boy. Soothing to her was pummeling the person until they stopped being annoying, that's why she was asking for this kid's help.
"Okay, soothing. Gold is soothing. Polishing weapons is soothing." Not the most normal of things to be soothing for typical people but Eve was certainly not typical.
"I didn't know we were that noticible. I mean in dragon form sure! But in human form?" Once again she paused to think trying to figure out if her race really did act different than other people that noticably. Well, if she saw a dragon in human form she could usually point them out easily, so she guessed that they did act differenly.
"Agreed. If I fail you'll have to come up with some sort of punishment. Like having to spend a day tending flowers or something equally nightmare worthy." She cringed at the idea hoping he didn't pick such a mean punishment.

"Your people stand with a kind of pride and a posture that makes you stand out. It's something you couldn't notice, because it is normal to you. And a suitable punishment for failure..." Kiri? No way, he wouldn't let her near Kiri alone...
Then who could he use to be the punishment?
Then it hit him like a train. Wingrose. he grinned devilishly.
"Ok, I have your 'punishment' for failure all thought up. Now, just make sure you don't fail. After all, it's only the first step."

She nodded making sure to find a dragon in human form to watch and see if the genius kid was right. It sounded like a good standard to put dragons in most of them were pretty proud, including herself. She waited as he thought about her punishment. It better be good. For such a challenge there better be a big reprecussion for failing.
"Let me guess I don't get to hear my punishment before I go? Thanks, half-pint." She grumbled knowing she'd most likely fail. Her anger problems were far worse than the boy probably understood. But this was a challenge and she'd be trying extra hard not to loose it, so maybe she'd make it.
"Okay, off I go to find the cave and then this mysterious being that is supposed to tick me off." Eve bent and reached out a hand to rub his hair something easily dodged. "I see you later, kiddo." She stood then jogged out of the room waving as she left, this was going to be interesting.
