pretty sure it's not so much the complexity so much as the power of the gift. Each gift is designed so that if you think about it, like Rob said, then yeah, you can break it. But you have to stop and actually think about it first. An ability that just lets you change energy from one form to another is a little too overpowered from the start. Furthermore, it can completely nurf some already existing abilities.
For example, say I have a character that uses electricity. He shoots and controls it by wiggling his ever so adorable fingers. If you can control that energy, you can change it so my electrokinetic suddenly is controlling something like say, atomic energy. We all go boom and there's suddenly a lot less forum for us all to be RPing in. Or, if the admins decide to be a little more lenient, you could suddenly have LOVE ENERGY. as much fun as being a care bear might be, it's a little nurfing if you've been doing electrokinesis.
So, yeah, too inherently crazy to use, sorry about that. Good ideas though, keep working on that.

IRough idea for a gift - being able to change energy into any form, and being able to manipulate said energy. Technically ebcause of the way gifts work they'd be able to have other people's gifts, but because they don't have the genetic code that wouldn't work. I eman things like being able to stop something moving by changing the kinetic energy into chemical or static energy. Another one is Potential energy. Technically they could make stuff float by changing the potential energy of something falling into say, heat energy, and moving it somewhere else. Though possibly together thw two things, while they go hand in hand, would be a bit overpowered so have them as two different gifts. Energy Manipulation Energy Transmorphing (for lack of a better word) However, they would technically be able to mimick a few gifts so it might be a little overpowered. The rough idea is there anyways. If anyoen needs help with the science behind it, they can just ask me. But I doubt that. The staff have voted against implementing a Gift like this. We feel that it is too technical for the average member to understand, and creating it simply for those who do understand it can make other members feel alienated. If I saw something like that, I wouldn't even want to join the site, and we don't want to do anything that could make our site less appealing. With that cellular Regen thing clear, could there be a gift like the Baccano! Immortals, or have it as an optional stage II for cellular regen? The staff have voted against implementing a Gift like this. Regens can sort of do that already, minus blood and stuff zipping back to where it was. We feel that this idea is too "magicy" to be a Gift. |

My suggestion isn't a new gift, as much as it an Amendment to an existing gift.
The gift I'm talking about is Precognition. I think it's a nifty ability, but I imagined it to be different when I first heard of it, but when actually read it, I came up with this.
Basically I'm suggesting that 'levels' be added to it like some other gifts have, so people can gauge what level of Premonition they have. I suggest this, because I wanted to create a character, with what I imagined, but I realized that it'd be just a weaker version of what is already available.
Level I might be something like what I originally imagined: "The Gifted can see a ghost-like semi-transparent image of the things around them, showing where and how things will move in the next few moments. These semi-transparent images work something like an 'after-image' where if something is moving too fast people around it will see a trailing image, except that the illusion moves before the actual object, resulting in a 'before-image'. Keeping this special future sight active is draining.
A middle level could be the first level with the addition of an onset of nightmares and visions that come randomly.
The final level would be the full fledged ability as it is now.
I'm a little unclear as to whether Precognition allows you to see into the future of other places, or just around you, but for the record I think that you should need 'Clairvoyance' + 'Precognition' for that.
I understand that all of these things are kinda 'doable' already, but if the levels are added it'd be easier to understand at first glance what people are capable of with their precognition powers.

Gift Suggestion: Tongues- Character can speak with any living creature that has a language.
This gift has 'existed' in the world for quite a while (Since I've always wrote Locke's father as having it!) but I figured it should be official.

Woud a gift where the gifted one could change the density of things work?
Or where they could change the angles at which light can be reflected, kind of thing. I don't know. it's an idea that's hit me after too much Physics revising T_T

xD Like I said, just somehting I got when I had physics revising. I was also exhausted. 
Also, i know we have vocal enhancement, but could we have a gift that lets the gifted one increase/decrease the volume of ANY sound, almost like a human amplifyer?

Gift ideas
Ok first off I've got too many of these that have been laying around in my head so I guess I'll share some of them. Some of these I guess you could call upgrades to gifts like another stage of them.
As I type these you'll see some of them are crossed out because I was going to post it then had one of those "Oh wait, *insert gift here* is the same thing."
Cellular Acceleration IV: Almost the same as stage III but able to heal more then one person at once.
Musical waves:using any instrument the gifted can make a single shock wave that would knock their target down causing damage to the torso area. One wave every four notes
(I thought of this when our newest member said he played in a band)
Buffout: no not the crap from Fallout 3, Allows the gifted to withstand more (of almost anything) then normal this does not include boredom or any other emotional type of things.
Just a few here rename them if you like them if you don't pay no attention I'll think of more.

I agree, this place's been virtually dead since the start of the year, and I've got a couple more weeks left of exams to do...
(Hell I closed my MOSh tab for the first time in April, a year after I started writing here.)
Maybe we could move the academy, and archive the old threads, to show we're really starting anew? Just a suggestion...
