PAINTED FACES FILL THE PLACES I CAN'T REACH YOU KNOW THAT I COULD USE SOMEBODY,SOMEONE LIKE YOU.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It was a truly beautiful day today. The sun was high in the sky, signaling that it was around noon. There was a nice, gentle breeze that brought about the aromas of flowers and other things nearby. Miki figured she might as well take advantage of it and enjoy it while it was here. Even though she hadn't been in the best of moods, she was too stubborn to let it get to her. She didn't like sitting around, keeping away from everyone. Whatever happens, happens. This was her conclusion and she stuck to it as she made her way across the Academy grounds to the lake.
Miki took a deep intake of breath as she took in her surroundings. The crystalline lake was simply beautiful. The water glittered under the light of the sun and the breeze played with the water, making ripples against its surface. Soft blades of green grass tickled her toes as she broke into a run towards the lake, her flip flops clicking against the back of her tiny feet the whole way. “This is extraordinary!” the petite girl laughed as she flopped down on the grass nearest to the lake edge. Being very Miki-ish, she rolled around, giggling the whole time. After a few minutes of her childish fun, she positioned herself on her back.
Taking her sunglasses off to gaze at the clouds, her deep chocolate brown orbs instantly attracted the sunlight, shining beautifully. Her eyes were always filled with life, a spark. This was a trait that normally drew people to her. The fact that she always brought life to people's life. Miki made it fun.
Any hair that wasn't nestled under her hat was fanned out under her, cradling her face cutely. Miki's arms were spread wide on either sider of her. Her hat was a little sideways, but still looked cute either way. I sure do hope no one recognizes me out here. I mean, I do look a tad bit different. It's been about a year, I think. I'm not sure what I'd do if they all started bringing all that drama up again. she thought nervously. She contemplated different scenarios in her head while identifying the shapes of the clouds. It was such a good thing she can think about many things at one time.
“You know what? I don't care anymore. Because I will not let anyone smoosh my happiness under their big taunting feet. What happens in the past, stays in the past.” she stated to herself, grinning in satisfaction that she finally got that over with. Little did she know, she wasn't the only one that heard her decision.

Eiji was probably the wrong audience for Miki to have.
Graduation had been the previous month, but because most of his friends, and his girlfriend, were the type to not really care, and because he was pretty much a swell guy, he'd been roped into going back and collecting all their stuff. Noah was somewhere on the grounds, or inside, helping out, but Eiji had the bulk task of getting all of Elliot's clothes and shoes and books and bags and boxes and albums and bottles. He hadn't thought there would be so much to carry with him, considering that she practically lived with him, and their place was filled with junk as it was. He'd been wrong though, and on his fifth trip back to the Academy, Noah had called and had insisted he'd dropped one of his medals near the lake. There'd been something about lucky triathlon speedos but Eiji wasn't going to even remotely think about touching those, no matter how much he valued the blond boy as a friend.
The giggling could be heard from a ways way, and he spent a good, long moment considering leaving behind the search for Noah's medal. He wasn't like how he used to be, not really; there was a change that had him apprehensive about being around people. Most day and nights were spent with Elliot, and it was a wonder how the girl wasn't sick of him yet; probably because she liked people, as in others as much as he did. He could be around his old friends and it wouldn't be that hard to pretend that it was all okay, that he was all there and wasn't at any risk of losing it; reverting and resulting to God knows what. Because the story was that there'd been an accident; he'd accidentally allowed someone completely abhorrent into his life, and he'd accidentally let them both become unhealthy, accidentally fell apart, and accidentally put his hands around their throat in a fit of accidental rage. The consequential guilt and self-disgust hadn't been an accident, and while he wouldn't stand to ever see her face again, he still had to look at himself every morning and be reminded of just how damn pathetic he was.
Perhaps he was feeling a little vindictive, a little bitter. The girl with all her lack of care and worry, all smiles and cheer, was so unlike him; he was jealous. "Can you keep it down?" he asked, or kind of demanded; it didn't matter. He wasn't anywhere near her, more to her left and a little further down the bank; he probably wasn't even looking in the right spot for the medal, and he most definitely should have been nicer and asked her if she had seen it, but he was more concerned with trying to disconnect any and all happiness that was currently surrounding him.

PAINTED FACES FILL THE PLACES I CAN'T REACH YOU KNOW THAT I COULD USE SOMEBODY,SOMEONE LIKE YOU.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - “Woah,” Miki said, looking over at a slightly surly looking boy. More like man. Very handsome man. she thought. “I'm sorry if I bothered you. I was simply enjoying this beautiful day. You should too! C'mon!” Miki suddenly sprung up out of her position, shifting her hat a little more sideways on her head and throwing a few stray bangs in her face. She had a big grin on her face as she made her way over to him, and then proceeded to sit in front of him.
Miki folded her lightly tan legs cross-legged in front of her and then reached out towards him. She placed her small, soft fingers on either side of his mouth and turn it upward in a funny looking smile. She laughed; it sounded like a pretty bell. “See? That's all you gotta do! People waste too much time being unhappy. They should learn to make the most out of life while they have it, because it could be taken away from them at any moment,” Her chocolate brown eyes stared into his green ones. As she looked him over again, she got an eerie feeling that she knew him, or knew of him. He was too familiar. But she couldn't place a name.
Shrugging the thought off, she let her hands drop from his mouth in order to raise them in triumph. “Hey, did you know it takes more muscles to frown then to smile? AND that if you laugh for ten minutes you can burn like, ten calories?” Outwardly, she seemed very bouncy and talkative. Inside, she was nervous. Miki didn't like talking so much. She tended to do that when she was unsure or nervous. He had surprised her and as soon as she had heard the tone in his voice, she could tell something was wrong, very wrong. There was something bothering him, but she didn't know whether it was her place to ask. A knowing and thoughtful look came upon her face as she stared off to the side of him, into the distance.

Honestly, if he'd known that she was going to continue talking, to him much less, then he would have readily jumped in the lake. His usual charm had been traded for an edgy wariness; oh, he could still act like himself, how he used to be, politely indifferent with quirks and mild jokes that could pass off as being friendly. It was just that she'd caught him at a strange time in his life and -
You met me at a very strange time in my life.
It was from a movie; but he'd said it to someone, last September when he had been eager to change lives, fix the broken because he hadn't been able to fix himself. It was a memory that he couldn't be certain of anymore; if he'd really said it or what he'd meant by it. Those few stationary moments, crouched near the ground searching for a hint of gold, made him unaware of how she came closer, and then her face came into focus, too close. The resulting smile was involuntary, hardly real, and mangled, but it made her laugh without any effort on his part. If he was uncomfortable, he didn't show it, only scowled a little more heavily and let his restlessness take the forefront, as if saying he could care less about her facts; he'd do as he damn well pleased.
"Don't do that," he told her, bland in terms of snappiness, but still inherently promising displeasure; and he stood up, taking a step back, then another, until he was a suitable distance away from her curious fingers and laughter.
But he felt funny inside, because this wasn't like him at all. His bad mood was uncalled for but he couldn't shake it off, hadn't been able to for the past couple of months, and as much as he knew he should apologize, or simply stop being such a prick to everybody he didn't already trust, he couldn't. Because while he wasn't afraid, he wasn't, there were just some things of himself he hadn't been able to get back yet.
"Look," he began, finally glancing at her and trying to keep his tone level, normal, "I didn't mean to be rude," which was the closest to an apology he would get, "but you don't just touch people like that. Even if you're trying to help."

PAINTED FACES FILL THE PLACES I CAN'T REACH YOU KNOW THAT I COULD USE SOMEBODY,SOMEONE LIKE YOU.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Miki's grin turned into a taut, straight line as he scowled and backed away. She never actually frowned all that much, mostly from practice, so when her face begged to frown, it resulted in a blank, emotionless expression. Although, despite that, it was fairly easy to read. Hello! You've hurt my feelings greatly but I'll keep my pride and bottle in up nicely for you.
“I'm sorry if I angered you in any way or made you uncomfortable. I was merely trying to cheer you up some. You seem tense and ... troubled, to say the least. Though, My choice of words may not fit too well.” Miki murmured quietly. Her hands now rested in her lap and her thin fingers played idly with the hem of her shorts. Her warm eyes did not dare move from his perfect face. Maybe there was more meaning in her eyes than her words.
In an effort to add some light onto the situation, as she did a lot, she asked in a genuinely curious tone of voice, “So, how come you decided to come here to the lake today?” Harmless, right? she thought. Miki deemed it a suitable question to ask at the moment. One that shouldn't cause him any irritation. At least, she hoped so.
Absentmindedly, she felt around the grass for her sunglasses. After a minute or so, she located them. They felt warm, probably since the sun had been beating down on them for a while. She placed them on her head awkwardly, as most of her accessories were. In the position they were in on her hat, you could see more of the side of the expensive glasses than the lenses. This was her mistake.
In her efforts to make the man's life a bit brighter, or to at least bring a genuine smile to appear on his face, she forgot what she had been nervous about before he arrived there. On the side of Miki's sunglasses, printed in bright gold uppercase lettering that stood out noticeably in the sun's rays, one could make out a small portion of text perfectly.
MIKI ANGEL TOIZDEN THE BEAUTY TERRORIST
Miki's watch that adorned her left wrist read: 1:34 PM.

He tried to ignore her first statement without seeming like he was ignoring her at all. If he felt like he'd just kicked a baby, then that was ignored too. He didn't much enjoy leeching the happiness out of her, or at all, but it felt costly to him, to make it up to her. It wouldn't have taken much from him, just a grin and a real apology, but those parts of him were hidden, at the back of his mind like a reminder he was aware of but couldn't quite grasp. And anyway, he didn't need cheering up, not really.
More of a nervous tick than habit this time, he shoved his hands into his pockets. It became easier for him that way, whatever that meant for him, but he really looked at her, shifting a bit, rather than pay her little to any attention. "I'm with a friend of mine, we're moving a lot of stuff out of the dorms and he lost his medallion out here. An Ironman gold medal, otherwise I wouldn't be looking for it."
Conversation he didn't know he possessed came out of him, and he even managed a slightly less aggravated expression; an old quirk at the corner of his mouth, and the constant caution he wore in his gaze lessened. She was harmless, he had to keep telling himself that, even if she was a brunette, even if her wide, brown stare was nothing near glacial blue, but that sense of imploration was similar; hadn't she started out that way? He shook off his aversion, a glint of gold catching his notice.
It wasn't Noah's damn medal; it was only her sunglasses. He thought nothing of it, until her appearance really struck him, and he shifted fully to study her. "I know your face," he said aloud, brows furrowed in thought but he didn't look anywhere near as foreboding as he had at first. Eiji cocked his head to the side, trying to place her face with a match in his memory banks; he was sure he'd seen her before. She wasn't someone to pass by either, because her familiarity wouldn't prick at him so much unless there was something worth noting at her.
"Did you just start here?" he asked her, all nuances of hostility gone from him, now reserved behind his nonchalant countenance. He was trying, he really was, without making too much of it.

PAINTED FACES FILL THE PLACES I CAN'T REACH YOU KNOW THAT I COULD USE SOMEBODY,SOMEONE LIKE YOU.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The cute japanese girl's mouth turned upwards at his words. Not a big grin, just a simple warm smile. She was glad he was actually beginning to start conversation. “Is that so? That's terrible, losing something of value like that. I could help you look for it, if you want. That way, it wouldn't take as long and you could get back to your friends.” Miki said the last portion because she figured if she offered to help so he could finish his task and leave, he wouldn't feel pressured to stay or feel uncomfortable. She wasn't too sure where to start looking, though. Looking through her memory, she didn't recall seeing anything of interest by or in the grass, so maybe it was near the water.
But, you see, good things can only last for so long. As soon as he spoke the words, 'I know your face' she went pale and a slight spark of fear ran through her eyes. Struggling with trying to place what mistake she made and whether she knew him from her old school, she started mumbling. “Uhm, no... I don't think you know me... Yeah, I just started here a few days ago...” In all her fumbling around and nervousness, she randomly thought how ironic it was. That when he finally eases up and becomes a little more talkative and nice, she wishes he wouldn't have.
Now, one important thing to note about Miki: she wasn't clumsy. Not just average clumsy, dangerous clumsy. She could fall over if she was sitting down perfectly still. It was just something she couldn't help. So, needless to say, it probably wouldn't be long until she showed this off in all her glory.
She was now standing. “So, how about we start looking for that medal of yours?!” Miki said in an over excited tone, making it obvious she was nervous. Only a matter of time . . .

Eiji knew a lot about being evasive. He recognized her subtle out, how she made their encounter straightforward; he wasn't obligated to stay any longer than necessary, but more importantly, she wasn't expecting anything from him. That particular fact was kind of nice; his considering gaze changed to something more mild.
"Hmm," he said, because he was trying to come to terms with the fact that she wasn't as instantly unlikeable as he had tried to make her, because even when he had been an outright jerk, she hadn't shied away from him and now she was offering to help look for the lost medal. He didn't know of many people left that were as nice as her, and as disparaging as he had become, he couldn't deny that she was good; like the old kind of good, without the strings and terms that made it hard for anyone to be sincere.
His pause was only momentary , and it didn't take much for him to drop the issue about her familiarity. She clearly didn't like it, even if she tried to play it off. He'd leave it be, but only because he couldn't place her for the moment.
"It's my friend's," he corrected, wry and somewhat amused at the high note she hit, "hopefully he lost it in the water, that'd be mint." He could imagine suggesting it to Noah and then pushing the boy in; but Noah was a little smarter than say, Draco, and probably wouldn't fall for the trick. Anyway, the other boy would get too much satisfaction of stripping off wet clothing afterward.
"Thanks," he said abruptly, not as an afterthought, but said too fast like he wasn't used to thanking strangers; "for helping me, you didn't have to." Especially after the way he acted toward her, but he seemed to be the only one with the remnants of an ill-temper. "It wont take too long," he assured, "it's probably dirty but you can't miss it. It has blue ribbon. Or red. Or purple. But it's gold so the ribbon wont matter."

PAINTED FACES FILL THE PLACES I CAN'T REACH YOU KNOW THAT I COULD USE SOMEBODY,SOMEONE LIKE YOU.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Miki sighed in relief when she realized he was dropping the subject. She did not want to play the 'guess who i am' game at that point in time. “Oh, sorry, my bad,” Miki replied with a smile. Her features had relaxed and she had returned to her happy appearance. It was funny how she could change moods so fast. She made a mental note to keep that thought in mind when she went back home for the summer.
“Yeah. And you're very welcome.” She took her hat off as she said this, sunglasses still on top. She placed them on the grass where she had been sitting, ran her fingers through her red brown hair to expel any hat hair and gestured for him to start looking with her. The warm sunlight felt good on her legs as she walked. Sun bathing was definitely near the top of her to do list.
Gold... gold... Miki thought to herself as she examined the bank and the water, her flip flops following her noisily. In an attempt to break the sudden silence, she decided try to spark another conversation. She was sure whatever was bothering him was at least being pushed out of his mind for the moment, since he seemed a bit lighter. It made her smile broadly when she knew she was making someone happy.
“When did you start here? You don't seem like you're new here.”

Just because he dropped it didn't mean he stopped thinking about it. Half his attention was on finding his friend's lost prize, and the other half was set on trying to figure out where he knew the girl from. The shift from nervous to relieved wasn't missed, and he glanced away from her smiling face to peer out at the bank. The movement of her hat made him look at her, but casually, not so outwardly intense, more a subtle perusal using his peripherals. He had to know her. His last few years of study had been pretty high-flying; he knew almost everybody at the Academy, more so if they were in his house. His face twisted in thought a little at that; maybe she was in his old house?
"I'm not new," he answered, a few meters from where she was; no point in staying close when there was ground to cover. Maybe if he stood far enough he'd get an epiphany and finally know who she was.
"I graduated from here last year, but my girlfriend and her friend only finished last month. She hates this place, so I'm moving their stuff for them." It was such an uncharacteristic move on his part, something unexpected from the previously glaring boy. If he had continued to frown and glower, it would have seemed completely unlike him to do anything for anybody, but he was still himself in all the base aspects; furthermore, he was a boy, who was likely to do anything for the girl.
"What about you? Aren't you a little too old for transfers? I haven't seen you around before." He kicked at some dirt, trying to uncover whatever was buried underneath it. It turned out to only be a can of coke, silver aluminum bottom facing up, and he snorted lightly in disgust before moving on.

PAINTED FACES FILL THE PLACES I CAN'T REACH YOU KNOW THAT I COULD USE SOMEBODY,SOMEONE LIKE YOU.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Miki was in deep thought as he talked to her. She almost didn't hear what he was saying. I really do think I know him. I mean, he said he thinks he knows me, so that must be why he seems so familiar. “I see,” Miki murmured. “Me? Well, due to the fact that... let's just say I make trips home more often than I should because of things that need to be done. So, I kind of fall behind some. I just have a year left, that's all.” For a minute, she pondered whether he'd inquire as to what 'things' needed to be done at home so often. But she doubted it. Most people weren't interested in her home life. Though it was mainly her fault - she made her home life out to be dull and boring so people wouldn't see the real her. She knew they'd feel different about her if they did.
He's been staring at me for quite some time, she thought to herself as she looked away from him and continued to search, hoping she hadn't been staring at him for too long. Maybe he's hoping that if he stares at me long enough my name will write itself across my face in pretty colors. That made her laugh to herself.
Too bad nothing ever works out well with Miki's plans. At this moment, her cell phone rang. Now, Miki really didn't feel the need to have a cell phone. If she wanted to talk to someone, she'd just go there in person. But since her mom insisted, she picked one out. And even though after a while she grew quite fond of the device, she was definitely not fond of it right now. Miki knew that ringtone. It was Owarinai Yume by Nanase Aikawa, one of her favorite songs. That so happened to be her mother's ringtone.
Now, of course her being the clumsy one she is, a simple task as getting her phone out of her back pocket safely was a hard task, seeing as her mind was scrambled up at the moment. As she reached back to get it, her footing against a few oddly shaped rocks along the bank faltered and she fell, back first into the water. Of course, this resulted in her being drenched, but her evil, evil phone being fine. Miki told her sister that a waterproof phone case would piss her off one day. The ringtone stopped? Did she hang up? No such luck.
“MIKI ANGEL TOIZDEN!” her mother bellowed through the phone. Miki shivered and stared at the phone she held outstretched from her face, holding it as far away as possible. You could hear the other person clearly without being close. “I SENT YOU FOUR TEXT MESSAGES AND FIVE EMAILS AND SEVEN LETTERS, YOUNG LADY! THAT'S A HELL OF A LOT! I TOLD YOU THAT YOU HAD A BIG PERFORMANCE AT THE MUSIC DOME TOMORROW BUT NOOO. YOU IGNORE ME AND GO OFF PRANCING ABOUT EVERYWHERE TRYING TO BE NORMAL. YOU ARE FAR FROM NORMAL, MY DEAR. AND YOU HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES. AND IF YOU CANNOT-” Lenne, her mother, finally takes a deep intake of air. “TEND PROPERLY TO YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES THEN I WILL BE FORCED TO FORBID YOU FROM ATTENDING SCHOOL. DO YOU HEAR ME? ....ANSWER ME!”
“Y-yes!” Miki squeaked, stiffening at her mother's tone. Her face was priceless; the poor girl looked frightened beyond belief. “GOOD. Now, honey. I love you and take care.” By this time, Miki's horrified look turned into completely livid. She was loathing her mother right now. She was afraid if she looked up at the poor boy she might burn a hole right through his pretty face with her eyes. Sliding the phone shut, she let her head droop between her knees. For five minutes all you could hear was her deep breathing; she didn't quite feel like killing anyone today.
How could she DO that? Why couldn't she just forget about it? Do I really need to attend every single damned one? I have a life, and those people she learn that, too. How the hell am I going to learn anything if I keep getting called away.... At that lost thought, her expression went from anger to sadness. And, unfortunately, accompanied with that sadness was a frown. It didn't fit her features that well. It looked out of place.
Miki sighed, and then looked up at the boy who was probably laughing at her right now she believed. Either that or left in the middle of it. “I... Uh, I'm sorry about that...” I wonder if I look okay all wet? Hah, me and my fashion sense.

Surprised was certainly the word for how he looked. He'd initially taken her response at face value; she was right, he didn't particularly care about her home life. Prying was a dangerous business and he didn't fancy himself knowing too much, he didn't need any more friends or people trying to be better for him. Her ring tone was acknowledged in the same lackadaisical manner, and he was half a turn from looking further up the bank before her abrupt movement caught his attention.
When he looked at her next, she was sitting in the water, enduring a cell phone abusing her. He wasn't capable of looking comical, not in these days, but he quirked a brow in question, perplexed and a little offended; that was her mother? There was a small amount of amusement shining in his eyes, like laughter he would have expelled if he could, but he supposed his staying quiet was a small miracle.
"Wow," he said, perhaps bland, an understatement. He shrugged away her apology, he didn't care much for that either; "that was intense." There wasn't much he could have said toward the experience. He knew all about great expectations and a parent trying to be a hardass, but he had never been one to stick to form. His gaze was light, not judgmental or inquisitive either; she looked entirely different from when he first met her, and he wondered if she realized that she was looking exactly like she told him no to.
"You don't have to apologize," he told her, little threads of niceness lightening his tone. He couldn't say for sure if it was intentional or instinctual; he knew who she was now, knew exactly who she'd been and who she'd seen, but rather than make fun of her now, he put it off, it was probably the last thing she'd need.
"It must be hard, to have your parent as your keeper. I couldn't imagine living like that." No, because Eiji tended to live as he wanted, everyone else be damned; and look where that had gotten him? Sometimes he would think back to the days when his Father was outlining his life for him. If he had actually stuck to it, attended a preparatory and then an exclusive university, he probably would have avoided all the mess and turned out to be a different, not better, person. He would think back, linger on the idea of an involved parent, and then decide that he wouldn't have done anything different. Because as mistakes went, he didn't think his life was too bad now, even with the certain dark things he kept in the closet.

PAINTED FACES FILL THE PLACES I CAN'T REACH YOU KNOW THAT I COULD USE SOMEBODY,SOMEONE LIKE YOU.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Have you ever heard of Star Wars? Or perhaps Galaxy Wars or any kind of -blah- Wars? Well, at this particular moment in time, Miki Toizden was having an all out offensive Face War.
Annoyed, Mad, Sad, Emotionless, Distraught, Nervous, Scared, Surprised, Apathetic, Amused, Happy. How so many emotions could fly across one's face within a duration of one minute without completely distorting someone's face is unknown, but Miki managed. All those expressions, in order flitted across her face. When Eiji commented on the conversation, there was a surprised expression on her face, which quickly shifted into apathetic. “I see,” Miki murmured. “It's nothing, really. It happens a lot. Quite too often, I should say. But hey, what can you do?” she said, her voice holding traces of bland sadness. She wasn't sure whether she even felt the emotion or not, it was just portrayed.
Miki was often given away by her eyes, but occasionally her voice gave her away as well. She was never a good liar, nor was she good at hiding her emotions. It was natural for her to be open and to express every little thing she felt, to let the world know she felt ecstatic because she didn't fall out of bed that morning.
The breeze was not helping her situation, either. For about ten minutes, Miki forgot completely that she was sitting in water, soaked. Not that it bothered her too much, but for some reason she was always cold. Always had been. Sometimes it wasn't so bad so she ignored it and dressed as she was now. Or some days it would get so bad, she'd dress like a Eskimo, turn up the heat and lie under the cover of her bed and still be shivering uncontrollably. Miki hated it when that happened. She didn't like having attention drawn to her, and she disliked making people worry. But whether she liked it or not, her body involuntarily began shivering. The instinct the body has to keep itself warm. To her, it was just her body trying to annoy the hell out of her.
Looking up at him, and smiling a bit at his statement, she replied, “No, I think I should. On my mother's behalf, at least...” Her voice had went from a mumble to a little stronger than a whisper. Wow, it sounds like he's actually being a little...nice? She smiled, hoping she had helped in revealing his kind side. Her chocolate orbs bore into his emerald ones, until she literally rolled onto her side laughing hysterically. To her, it sounded obnoxious. To a lot of other people who know her, they always say it sounds like tinkling bells. Soft and sweet.
Oh my god, this is so rude! I can't just laugh like this! He's gonna think I think he's funny looking or something! Miki thought helplessly as she gasped for breath, clutching her sides for dear life. Her face was tinted a light pink, and her frown had turned into a bright, white smile. When she opened her eyes, which has previously been shut tight, they sparkled with life.
“I'm-hhah-so s-sorry.” she managed to say, the last bits of laughter exiting her system. The petite Japanese Djinn just lied there, the only movements that indicated she was alive was the rise and fall of her body from her breathing, which was slowly relaxing. After a few moments, when her laughter subsided, she stood up and wrung out her hair and her shirt. Her cell phone was still clutched in her hand.
“It can be rough,” she stated in a more lively tone. Miki had just realized he spoke. “But I try not to let it get to me. I just laugh it off, like I just did. I hope you didn't think I was insane or something. I mean, I am a bit crazy, so they say, but not like, insane crazy.” Laughing lightly at her last words, she winked at him playfully.
Making a slish-sloshing sound, she made her way up the small bank and onto the grass, facing the forested area beyond the lake, but still reasonably close. “However, I think I have a better idea for this phone then a laughing session...” she mused, a mischievous grin on her face. “How far do you think it is to the forest from here where we are?” Miki wondered if he would be opposed to her idea, but had a feeling he wouldn't as she thought back to how he acted earlier towards her.
Wait... That phone call... she thought nervously, realizing a vital piece of information she forgot earlier. He knows who I am, now. Her face, surprisingly, didn't change from being mischievious, but there was a little bit of unease in her eyes. As she looked over at him, awaiting his repsonse as her phone was being twirled around on her palm, she wondered whether he'd have anything to say now that he knew of her identity. Or, whether he'd just leave it be.

The girl was a complete head-case and he decided that she would be perfect for someone like Peyton. The Californian girl was always doing stupid, random things that made sense to no one under the minimum requirement of two Molotov cocktails, or the equivalent to that; a relaxation session. Peyton liked smiles too, and laughing inappropriately and getting wet for no reason - everything Eiji couldn't really say he enjoyed. He took it in good humor though, or tried his very best anyway, keeping a straight, unaffected face when she suddenly began shivering so palpably, and then started laughing in fits out of the blue.
With the practiced air of someone who had been through this before (sometimes he would need to borrow sugar or bath salts (for Elliot) and he would walk down the hall to visit Eve or Draco, and he would be met with an unending amount of giggles and smoke), Eiji pocketed his hands, drew in a breath, shoulders hunching somewhat to ignore the summer breeze, and merely waited her out.
"Nah, it happens," he responded, after she explained herself, but he didn't refute her assumption of what he thought of her; so what if he found her a little bizarre. That was perfectly fine in his books, as everybody had their own odd quirks; for example, Andrew wore socks on carpet in just basketball shorts - he couldn't stand that because the Scotsman looked like the biggest tool, but still, he refused to change. He stepped back a few paces to allow her room on the grass, hands still firmly lodged in his pockets; he would have normally given anyone a hand, if not for the fact that he wasn't the same person as he used to be anymore, and that she was drenched still.
Eiji's expression was almost friendly, almost amused, as if he could entertain the exact same idea as she was and get some satisfaction out of it. He shrugged though, and it dispelled the humor that hid at the corners of his eyes.
"Dunno, a couple of hundred yards?" he said, and though not eager to prove anything to her, he did try a little bit; "do you think you can make it that far?"

PAINTED FACES FILL THE PLACES I CAN'T REACH YOU KNOW THAT I COULD USE SOMEBODY,SOMEONE LIKE YOU.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - “I figured,” Miki murmured petting her eyebrow thoughtfully with her free hand. She wanted to be rid of the horrid device. She didn’t like talking on phones, and the only person who ever called her was her mother most of the time. Her little sister called her sometimes, but not much. Besides, she knew her mom would most likely buy her a new one anyway. She always did. So, taking in a deep breath and squeezing her eyes tight, she moved her arm back like some expert baseball player and flung that thing with all the strength she could muster. The delicate phone soared through the air, glinting in an almost frightened manner. It went a amazingly good distance, almost half way from where the forest started. The overall goal had been achieved, however; the phone hit the ground so hard it broke into a few pieces. They looked like shiny stones.
“Much better,” she declared, triumphantly waving her fist in the air. “I never really liked phones, you know? I feel that if you want to speak to someone, it should be in person, no matter how many words you have to say. It holds more meaning that way.”
A few minutes passed without any words being exchanged. The silence wasn’t awkward, but it wasn’t exactly mellow, either. This made Miki a tad bit nervous, mostly cause but not knowing what he was thinking as she casually scanned his face.
