The attention of the sunlight Aaron was directing on to Kiri was waning, and they desperately called for him to let them do something else. Not that he really had any choice. He let them free, apologizing to Kiri.
"Yeah, but it isn't perfect... see? The light was bored of warming you up, so it kinda... left."
"But the 'fireflies' really like it when you throw the snow up. Being refracted is fun."
He laughed softly. "I really want to see how you call on your little friends. You can actually feel them."
Star noticed Kiri stopped working on the snowman, and regretfully stopped too, silently promising he would get back to it.

Her eyes flicked to him and smiled. "It's okay, can't manipulate mother nature forever, she might get testy."
Kiri nodded and threw another handful of snow into the air. If the light found it fun then why not. Everyone, and everything deserved to have fun. She laughed and threw another handful.
"Hmm?" Stopping she turned at his suggestion. "My friends...oh! Of course."
Looking upwards she made a sound that distinctly sounded like a hawk's cry. In a few seconds two shadow swooped over them as a pair of hawks flew down toward them. Most of her friends were in habernation, but the hawk's didn't seem to mind the cold that much. Kiri lifted her arms and a hawk alighted on each one. She nuzzled them telling them to behave as she held out her arms toward him.
"They're mates. Spree, and Lerrara." Her left arm lifted at Spree and her right at Lerrara. Lerrara turned two intellegent orbs at the boy and open her beak to let out a cry. Her wings spread slightly then settled. "She says hi, she's the friendly one. You can touch her if you want."
The young fae pulled in Spree and held out Lerrara slowly.

Aaron recoiled at the hawk' appearance. Their cry was so fierce, so sudden..
He reached out a hand to pet Lerrara, slowly at first, then more effectively, and started to laugh. The laugh, of course, threatened the animal and...
"Aaargh! It bit me!" Lerrara didn't seem concerned, however. It was too busy trying to eat one one of the spiraling lights, only to find out that it couldn't be swallowed.

Kiri's eyes went wide at Lerrara's bad reaction to the laugh and she quickly chastized the bird. She shifted her arm and Spree went to sit on her shoulder glaring at Star. Lerrara opened her beak and took Kiri's finger into it not biting just holding it. Kiri sighed and kissed the bird's head.
"Sorry, she's usually much more docile than that. She's very sorry. Lately she's been kind of jumpy." Her eyes went to the pretty lights that also grabbed the attention of her friends. "Something bad seems to be happening in the area or something."
Frowning Kiri held out her free hand for his bitten one with a worried look on her face. "I really am sorry. I usually can stop them before they're so mean."

Aaron smiled at Kiri. "Naw, It's alright. I know she didn't mean to be mean or anything." He tried to smile at the Hawk, who gave him a blank stare. By now the lights had gotten bored, and the colours started to zip off in one direction or another.
"What did you mean by 'something bad'?" He started to rub his hands for warmth, not going to attempt another mini sun.

She bowed her head slightly still feeling guilty for her friend's actions. Lerrara nuzzled her cheek then fluttered her wings to land beside Star. The bird of prey spread her wings wide and bobbed almost like a bow then closed her wings. She moved over to Star and moved her head to touch his wounded hand and let out a cry.
"She really is sorry." At his question she paused and turned to whisper with Spree. "He's not sure. Just a bad feeling I guess. Animals usually know stuff before us, especially birds."
Kiri rubbed her fingers across Spree's chest and smiled. Then she noticed him rubbing his hands together. "Oh! Here! Use my gloves they might be a bit small but it's better than nothing."
She tugged off the gloved and held them out for him with a soft smile. "After all you made me a sun, it's the least I can do." Another smile to match the brightness of that personal sun lit her face.
