It was Lucky's lot in life to love people. The little corgi, more an animated ball of fluff then an actual dog, had an internal compass that pointed straight at whatever person would be most likely to shower love and affection upon it. To that end, Lucky could usually be found licking upon some person who was well deserved of her love and affection.
At least, Kennedy hoped so.
His dog had gotten away from him, taking off down the streets of the small Midwestern town. Before Kennedy could grab the leash, Lucky had taken off, yipping. Possibly to find a person to lick, possibly because there was a butterfly that needed chasing. It was nearly impossible to tell with Lucky.
Kennedy started after her, yelling all the appropriate words. People parted to make things easier for him, and at least one little old lady pointed down a side street. It didn't do a whole lot of good though, as Kennedy still lost his determined dog.
Finally Kennedy found himself stranded at the end of one of Monroeville's smaller streets. Scratching his chin, he looked around for any signs of Lucky.
"Lucky, where are you? Here girl," he began calling. Hopefully something turned up.

After picking up the left over bread crumbs from the bakery Kiri went window shopping though the sixteen year old fae didn't really have any money. But she enjoyed looking anyway. Then as she was just tying her shoe when she noticed a wet nose nudging at her bread crumb bag. Squealing in glee she scooped up the puppy.
"Awww! You are too cute! Wait, you're fam-famil-" She pouted her lips not remembering the word. "I know you!" Kiri giggled nuzzling into the puppies fur and the puppy nuzzled right back.
"Are you hungry lil' girl?" The fae softly put the pup down and dug into her bread crumb bag and held out her hand. Sniffing the pup barked happily licking up the crumbs. Kiri laughed rubbing the young canine's head lovingly. "Where's your master, cutie?" At that she looked around not liking the pup out on her own.

Apparently standing around and calling Lucky's name was not summoning the dog. Clearly that wasn't Kennedy's gift: dog summoning. Nooo, couldn't get something useful.
Sighing, Kennedy shoved his hands into his pockets, scuffed his foot and looked around. He hoped that Lucky had managed to, well, be lucky. After all, there were unfriendly people in Monroeville, though they were in the minority.
Kennedy shook his head, "Thinking like that isn't going to get my anywhere."
He turned, leaving the dead-end street and heading onto a more well traveled path. Now he had to ask various people if they'd seen a dog, giving out Lucky's description as he went. Eventually he'd hope to get someone's attention.
Finally he began to smell something: food. If he were a dog, particularly a dog like Lucky, he'd probably angle for food. Kennedy began heading toward the smell, hoping that his dog had found someone nice.

After giving the puppy a small snack she scooped the dog up to keep her from running away. Then she started walking the streets hoping someone would just run up to her saying:
"Oh, my gosh you found my puppy! Thank goodness!" Then puppy would go home with their owner, and everyone would be happy. Kiri hummed as she walked the small dog licked her arm it's paw reaching down for the bag. She hoped that she would find the poor things owner. The only thing she had to feed it was bread crumbs and that was for her other pets she adopted. Well, actually they weren't hers exactly but she loved them and brought them treats. So she called them her pets.
Glancing down a side street she began worrying about this owner. What if they were hurt or lost and the puppy had gone to get help? Was the master a mean person who had kicked their lovely puppy and so the puppy rebelled! running for it's life into the arms of the loving Kiri! Or maybe the little pup was involved in some kind of doggy circus and it was sick of the bright lights of show biz and just wanted to be a normal dog. As Kiri came up with more fantastical back stories for her puppy she started explaining these possiblities to the puppy in her arms. Maybe it would give her a hint as to which story was right.

At first Kennedy found a small diner with no signs of Lucky. He then managed to find an Italian restaurant. Again, no signs of Lucky.
Which led Kennedy to try and remember what Gifts he currently had. He'd mostly been hanging around Angela lately, no surprise there. So Air Control was definitely an option. Chances are he'd been close enough to Kenneth to try super strength. But neither of those was going to be overly helpful. Why couldn't he have a friend with telepathy?
Kennedy's search finally led him near a bakery, and nearly ran into Kiri.
"Kiri!" he exclaimed, grinning. He looked down at her arms, and saw Lucky, who looked quite pleased. Of course she would: Kiri had a way with animals after all. "I see Lucky got lucky again."
He nodded to the dog. "She give you any trouble?"
Not likely, about the only trouble that ever came out of Kennedy's corgi was when she decided to lick the face of someone who didn't want it at the moment.

Blinking she stared for a few seconds then beamed up at her friend. She held up the puppy and went off on one of her normal tyrades.
"Oh my gosh, Kennedy! This is your puppy? The poor girl! Do you know something very bad could've happened to her? You should watch her more carefully! I cannot believe you! Lucky has declared you and idiot and will no longer be your pet." She giggled and kissed the top of the puppy's head.
"Just kidding, she loves you very much, and she's hungry." Kiri scratched the dog's ear smiling down at the friendly animal. "You're very lucky Miss Lucky to of found me instead of some meany. You're also lucky to have Cavy as your daddy." Her smile went to Kennedy now as she held out his pup to him.
"So? No Angela today?" Kiri glanced around him going on tip toes to see if the lovely blonde was somewhere behind his tall frame.

For a few seconds there, Kennedy worried that his dog had actually disowned him. He knew he could take better care of Lucky; after all, the dog had gone months without even getting named. And there were the time when Kennedy kicked the poor animal out of his room so that he could sleep with Angela. Albeit, Lucky generally was allowed back in to snuggle with the sleeping couple.
Kennedy eventually caught on to Kiri's teasing, and slowly began to smile at the perky Faerie. Sometimes he couldn't help but wish he could mimic her ability, just to hear what Lucky had to say.
"Lucky's always lucky, hence the name," Kennedy replied. He scratched his dog between the ears, and she responded by giving him several affectionate licks. Of course, she also felt that Kiri needed this too.
Kennedy took Lucky out of Kiri's arms. "No, no Angela today. Just Lucky and I out for a walk. I like to get away from the Academy every once in a while, and Lucky gives me an excuse."
Kennedy winked at Kiri. Lucky added her own voice, barking in affirmation. Kennedy went ahead and bent over, letting the girl run about on the ground. Clearly she was pleased to have found her master and another friend, and felt it necessary to tell the world in general through barks.
"So, what are you doing out this way, Kiri?"

Laughing she watched the pup bark and run about in circles it's excited exclamations making her giggle even more. Sometimes it wasn't always amazing to hear animals. Especially when they were ADD puppies who thought the need to repeat themselves a million times.
"I think she's happy." Kiri smiled and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her pointed ears. A bit surprised that he didn't have Angela she shrugged. To be honest she was happy that Angela wasn't here, it wasn't that she didn't like Angela for she liked everyone. She just liked being able to spend time with Kennedy by herself. Not in a romantic way at all. He was her big brother type not boy friend type.
"I had to get bread crumbs for my animal friends. Some of them don't like them but the crumbs are free so.." Another perky smile as she lifted up the bag of bread crumbs as evidence. "Then I was just window shopping." The fae waved her hand at the various stores The pup kept up it's barking running around Kiri now that it knew she could understand her. Whenever an animal found out she understood them they found it very important they tell her everything they always wanted to tell humans. The secrets she knew would astound people.

One couldn't help but smile around Kiri, her mood was contagious. Add on Lucky, and it was a combination you simply couldn't resist.
"Don't need to understand animals for that one," Kennedy agreed. He nodded at the dog, who'd taken to yipping at both Fae and Gifted One. Of course, she soon lost interest in this, and started barking at Kiri, doubtless telling the Fae just how much she wanted to eat some food right about now.
"You would have bread crumbs," joked Kennedy. He laughed dryly, then nodded at the nearby bakery. "You hungry or anything? I've got some spare cash and I'd be willing to spring for a sandwich or something."
He'd barely been with Kiri for five minutes and he was already brothering her. Kennedy just couldn't help it: it was encoded in his DNA to reach out to other people. Especially cute blondes.
"We could even feed Lucky, she might actually shut up for a few seconds."
Kennedy looked down at the dog, who took the opportunity to bark a few more times.

Kiri looked right at the dog and stomped her foot. "Lucky! Please, we are having a conversation. I can talk later!" Rolling her eyes she smiled at Kennedy.
"Sometimes they just will not shush!" Now that Kiri hand actually "snapped" at the pup the poor thing was pouting. She sighed and scooped her up and and blew a raspberry into the pup's tummy. Lucky squirmed her short stub of a tail wagging. Kiri then put her back down happy that she'd made up with the pup.
"We can get a sandwich sure. But if you buy I have to owe you a favor or something. Kay?" She gave her bestest cute smile and grabbed for his hand to start dragging him to her favorite cafe.

Again, Kiri's and Lucky's antics made Kennedy smile. You'd almost thik the dog belonged to the Fae girl, instead of to Kennedy. Then again, Lucky always did seem to like Kennedy's female friends as much as she liked him. Which rarely bothered him.
"This better be just a favor and not a Favor," Kennedy insisted as he was being drug along. You could almost hear the capital letter as Kennedy said it. "As fun as it would be to have a Faerie owe me something like that, I hardly want it because I bought her a sandwich. that just feels like cheating."
Kennedy grinned. Leave it to him to over-analyze a good thing.
His gaze went to the sign over the restaurant, and he was surprised to see it was just a local cafe. He'd almost expected Kiri to find the closest McDonald's or something. Sometimes he forgot that his younger sister was sixteen. Wow, she could drive a car, should she actually manage to pass the test.
But pigs would fly first.
"Might have to get a table outside, so Lucky can join us."

She giggled and winked at Kennedy at his definition claration of Favor. The young fae was only teasing meaning favor without the capital but she didn't tease him very much so she just smiled. The cafe she had led them to was a pleasant one with basically all their tables set ouside in a court yard behind the cafe. Leading the way to the back it revealed many people with dogs laying beside them or other interesting pets.
"Duh, we have to get a table outside. Why do you think this is my favorite cafe?" Kiri giggled finding a table near a nice magical tree that never lost it's flowers. Her favorite spot. She waved at a young male waiter who nodded and went to get menus. If Kennedy paid attention the boy had blushed at the sight of the sixteen year old fae.
"They mostly serve vegetarian stuff here, but they have these really good meat puffs. Or I heard they were good." Kiri didn't eat much meat it felt weird to eat something that could talk to you. Though she did eat fish because fish were one of the animals she did not find it pleasant to talk to.
"Oh! They also have the best honeysuckle tea on the planet!" She chirped giggling as the waited returned dropping off the menus before blushing profusely and scurrying away. Kiri however was completely oblivious and continued talking.
"I just love their different teas. On tuesday they have tea day and you can sample all their teas for free. And since they have a MILLION teas by the time I finish trying them all I can do is pee for hours." Kiri laughed at her little bit of too much information and brought up the large menu to hide her embarrassed face.

It didn't surprise Kennedy to find that the cafe catered to pets as well. Kiri would clearly pick something like that. Though it was somewhat surprising to find a cafe like that in little Monroeville; then again, maybe the owner just really liked pets. Who was Kennedy to judge?
Kennedy also noticed the blush from the boy, and took a few moments to study Kiri closely. Since he'd adopted her, he really hadn't considered her looks. But Kiri definitely followed the norm of her house: cute enough to inspire sinful thoughts. Not from Kennedy, of course, as it would take mental dynamite to dislodge Angela from his mind.
"Well, I don't have to listen to cows or anything, so I think I'll try a meat puff. Besides, Lucky's not much for green stuff," Kennedy bent over and scratched his pet as he mentioned her. Of course, this made Lucky yip a few times. Then she ran off to examine the butts of other dogs, exchanging ancient greetings.
Kennedy slid into his seat and opened a menu, studying it closely. "Teas, huh? I'm not much for something like that. I'll probably get something unhealthy like soda."
The menu did indeed include mostly vegetables, and Kennedy wondered if this place was run by some kind of crazed hippie or something.
"So, you come here on dates or something?" he casually asked, not looking up from his menu.

Kiri nodded to him choosing the meat puffs, she pretty much guessed he would choose them that's why she had suggested them. The waiter came back over and set down a basket of homemade potatoe chips and dip. He stayed for a few seconds and Kiri finally looked at him.
"Um, are you two ready to order? Maybe some freshly made strawberry lemonade?" The boy's hand was shaking and his eyes never left Kiri. She smiled and looked at the menu still not getting the fact that the boy was staring at her, and only her.
"I'd like the asian salad the green grapes not red. Oh, honeysuckle tea, iced not hot, and your delicious fruit sorbe. You suggested that to me last week, didn't you?" Kiri glanced up grinning, the boy looked like he was about to faint at the fact that she had remembered anything he had said.
"Yes! I did. Um, I'll go get your food immediatly!" And the boy was gone. Kiri laughed pointing at Kennedy. Almost rolling off of her seat.
"He forgot about you!" Still laughing she finally caught what he had asked her right before the waiter had showed. Kiri's laughter died and she blushed bright red.
"Cavy! How dare you ask that!" Kiri acted as though she were going to kick him under the table, still smiling. "That is none of your business." The young fae admittedly went on many, many dates here. Most she only dated once then skipped merrily on to the next one. She didn't do it on purpose she just wanted to give everyone a chance. The fae had yet to even approach first base never having found a boy that had snagged her fancy for more than a date's length of time.

For a while Kennedy seriously considered siccing Lucky on the waiter. Leaving him like that. And he'd clearly spent most of his time eyeballing Kiri as opposed to actually serving. Kennedy would be surprised if Kiri ended up with anything she ordered.
Kennedy dipped a potato chip and munched on it, his eyes wandering in the direction the waiter had just left. "Let's hope he'll be back sometime soon. I really want to eat something besides potato chips. Though these are really good."
He took another one, scooping a larger portion of the dip onto it before popping it into his mouth, giving Kiri a satisfied smile.
"It's a perfectly legitimate question," Kennedy protested. Still, he tucked his legs under his chair, knowing full well how hard Kiri could kick when she had a mind to. "What with the way that waiter was staring at you and the blushing."
Kennedy popped another chip into his mouth. "So I'm guessing that's a yes? You Wingrose girls really get around, don't you."
He winked now, thoroughly enjoying this. After all, he'd wound up with a Wingrose girl himself.
