I was wondering Now I'm not saying anything mean I just want to know I've seen members come on and Post in the general board but not in threads that it's there turn to post in Could someone please tell me why? ok That sounded rude and I did not mean it that way I meant it in a "I wonder why" way. I'm sorry if anyone is offened by this it's not meant to be that way I'm sure there is a good reason.

There are various reasons. People have lives, and don't have time to type out something. No muse, life intervenes, there are many reasons.
I know I'm a sporadic poster, but that's because I either have no muse, or I have school to worry about. It just really depends on the situation. I also sometimes only have time to post a quick post, so meh. Again just depends :/

Well OOC messages are important too. OOC messages are often something that can be quickly done, compared to IC posts.
OOC posts don't have as much pressure, since you're writing as yourself, too. Where as you have to be 'in character' for IC posts. Remember the 'role' in 'role' playing.
Also keep in mind that RPing is role 'playing', and that 'playing' means that this is a game. No I'm not going to say that, that means it doesn't matter. Just the opposite, actually. Since this is a 'game' some people feel the pressure that they have to 'win'. That might not necessarily mean they want to 'beat' everyone, but instead they just want to write the best that they can as a writer. Or something like that. OOC posts don't carry that pressure as much, or at all.
Some people might just not have the time or be in the mood to play their character as effectively as they like to, but I know how you're feeling. You just really enjoy RPing and are really passionate. I feel the same way and wish I could just RP endlessly sometimes, but eventually even I need a brake.

they just want to write the best that they can as a writer. I refuse to post something that I'm not happy with. When I post with anyone, they know they're going to get something I'm proud of. Most of the time. If I'm not replying to someone, it's because I haven't figured out a good way to advance the story. The best rps, in my opinion, are ones that develop a character. The majority of my rps are just my characters talking and interacting. I'm not a big fan of battles or fanfare; simplicity is beautiful. I can write a fight like a beast when it comes down to it, but I personally enjoy emotional drama over war. Think character-driven over plot-driven. That's my style. And that's why I'm a bit of a slow poster. Of course life gets in the way; I have work and modeling and friends and my other writing to tend to aside from MOSh. But everyone here knows MOSh is like a drug. You'll keep coming back for more. I always need a hit of MOSh.

Me and Nicki were rp'ing together for like a week or two. There were a few intervals where we both waited like.. 1-2 days before giving a reply. If we just replied whenever we had a spare minute; her replies wouldn't have been as epic as they were. The extra time is worth it, for amazing story.

We use this site for more than just RPing. A lot of us here (Meg, Nicki, Kelsey, Veronica, Sarah, myself, etc.) have followed each other from site to site for years. Literally years. We might be stuck in a writing rut or something, but we still want to talk to each other or tell everyone what's going on in our lives. If you've noticed, some of us write long, elaborate replies that sometimes take us days or even weeks to write. We're all very invested in our characters and want to make sure they're portrayed the way they should be.
I love hearing about Jackie's color/winter guard practices and Nicki's modeling conventions or talking hockey and SYTYCD with Sarah. All of that stuff. We're a community. We're friends.

I shouldn't suppose that this is rude at all and so I would suggest that you take my own response with a grain of salt. If you would look to the sidebar and look under the Staff section, you'll see all the characters I run. Throughout this board, there have been many occasions where people have discussed what may be holding them up from replying straight away or why it may be difficult to run multiple accounts. Though reasons why people don't post in RPs as frequently as you would like them to have already been listed throughout this thread, I'm going to take a moment to go through them again anyway. Not so unfortunately, as it is a part of life, people have jobs, school and other commitments to take care of. I regularly update the board in the RL thread about what my week consists of. At times, it may just be my regular classes with my regular free hours available for RP, or at other times, such as this week, I may completely be bogged down with a number of assessments. On top of these things, as I know the USA and Canada just finished their exams/midterms/etc., most of us need money in order to move on with our lives, and so this takes us to the days of the week or weekend where we work. As a consequence of this, often times when we are available, and often times this may be either in the late hours of the night or early hours of the morning ( Katie/Kellan Callahan was finishing shifts in the AM), we end up being exhausted and not in the mindset to write. As for writing itself, it is a mindset. I echo the sentiments of The Quiet and Nicki/Kara Belova. As I have spent numerous years with several members of this board, I know their writing habits, and based from this deduction I have developed, I can say that we have all reached a level of writing where it is not merely just 'casual' or even just a 'hobby.' Roleplaying is fun, yes, but there is more that ties us to this place and to each other than the fact that it's 'fun.' We're not likely to write if we're tired, as our brains cannot function, and we're not likely to write if we're pressed for time, as life often dictates. We're very free in our posting within the General board and it is as Katie/Kellan Callahan says; it's because we're friends, and as friends do, we talk to each other. I'm privileged to have spent so many years with these people; this time has only encouraged me to identify shouts, hollers, dialect etc. When I read what Nicki, Kelsey, Katie, Jackie, Meg, Chris, Aaron, Rob et al., write, I hear it in the way they intended it to be said. It's also because of this connection that most of us stay around. We're all free to quit whenever we would like, and we have faced some tough times in the past, as a group and also individually. We don't walk away because we respect one another. I hope I've given you some insight into this matter, though I may have missed the point along the way.
