Well, glad they got that out of the way. Dorian wasn't sure why he felt disappointed at her assurance. Perhaps a small part of him assumed he was irresistible. Though he didn't actually want Corey to 'come onto' him, he was a little put off that she didn't even seem to consider the possibility.
Regardless, she seemed determined to reveal her little secret to him, so he finished his lasagna, place the empty dish on the ornate coffee table between them, and leaned back. It looked like he was settling in for a long story.
"Alright. Let's hear it then," He prompted, gesturing with his hand for her to continue. Dorian looked calm, though a little expectant, while he speculated on whether or not Corinthia would trust him enough to keep her secret. Not that it mattered - he hadn't promised her he would. He didn't really have a reason to betray her, but how could she know that? They'd only just met, and if she was so eager to tell a complete stranger she was a vampire, how could she possibly predict Dorian's reaction. Sure, he was all cool and collected now, but what of Dorian was the sort of guy who freaked out around the unnatural. He hadn't given her any hint that he himself was Gifted, and for all Corey knew, he was just some slightly stuck-up rich human boy. Which, er, was true, but this summary didn't encompass the whole Dorian Wilde.
His mind raced, and he was sure Corey's was too, and he was a bit surprised to find his heart rate increasing. Though he knew her secret, or at least thought he knew, hearing her confirm his suspicions was nearly as exhilarating as being blindsided by the truth.

When the moment arose for her to actually reveal her secret, Corey inhaled sharply, calming her nerves. She knew that this was not something that was meant to be revealed, but seeing the circumstances, she owed him the truth. Her eyes narrowed, gathering strength by channeling her inner vampire. "I'm a vampire," she said bluntly, folding her arms older her chest.
Once the deed was done, she began to wonder if she made the right call. What if Dorian did squeal her secret, then what? Well, first off, she'd kill him. That part she knew. And she could easily shoot down any talk of her being a vampire, that is unless some smart ass decides to ask her to step in the sunlight to prove it. That would suck. It was too late to go back now. Corey winced her face slightly, preparing for the freak out which she was sure to be coming

That was it? No dramatic introduction, no 'before I tell you, know that I won't hurt you' speech? That was disheartening. He wanted her to squirm a bit, struggle with herself. But apparently when Corinthia made a decision, she stuck to it. She didn't beat around the bush, she staked the heart of the subject, pun intended.
"Huh," Dorian's disappointment hung in the single syllable he uttered, and he picked up his empty plate from the table. He stood and left for the kitchen.
"Well, you're a lot friendlier than the last vampire I ran into," He muttered, loud enough for her to hear before he disappeared. The sound of the tap being turned on and water pouring into the sink could be heard from where she sat in the living room. Then the water shut off, and Dorian returned. He opted to sit on a chair closer to Corey, and turned toward her to continue the conversation.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He wasn't sure why Corinthia brought it up in the first place. He'd given her the opportunity to back off and keep her secret, but she chose to let him in. Was this her attempt at opening up? Dorian used to be a jerk, and when someone bared their soul to them they were in real danger of his mockery and cruelty. But perhaps it was the intensive therapy sessions he went to, or maybe time had helped reduce the bitterness in his heart. This Dorian Wilde didn't feel like betraying Corinthia's trust at all. In fact, her openness made him curious...

Corey's eyebrows shot up in pure shock. How could he handle such news so nonchalantly? She just told him that she was a freaking vampire for god's sake. What the hell? It was like the news didn't even throw him off in the slightest, as if he already knew. Wait a minute...did he already know? No, impossible. There is no way he would have helped her had he known that she was some predatory creature.
His first statement, about running into vampires before, soared completely over her head at first. Instead she reacted to his question. "Do I want to take about it?" she retorted with a small smirk forming on her lips, "there's really not much to talk about. I snack on people, no biggie. Only downside is that whole sunlight ordeal, god that's a pain in the ass."
She replayed his reaction rapidly in her head, making sure she didn't miss any part hinting that he was going to gather the village people and prepare the pitchforks. Then minuscule statement that was spoken so casually clicked with her. "Wait," she said as she jumped to her feet, "you've run into vampires before? Who the hell are you?"

He let her babble a bit, wondering when it would sink in that he wasn't just some random guy she picked up on the street. Okay, sure, that's exactly what he was, but not every guy out there knew of the supernatural world like him. She was lucky this time, he supposed.
"You know, you really shouldn't trust just anyone with your secret. Especially in a world where teenagers think being a vampire is the coolest thing in the world, you could run into a lot of trouble. Just be thankful it was me you chose to make this mistake with, and not some Twi-hard Edward wannabe." He gave her his signature smirk, the one that boasted superiority. It always made him look like he knew something you didn't - the male Mona Lisa with his own fortress of secrets he kept under lock and key. Only today he actually felt like sharing his wealth of knowledge. At least some of it.
"I attended a very unique Academy where they taught us all about subjects like this. Granted, there weren't any vampires in my own classes - you lot often have something better to do with your time than going to school - but I recently had the misfortune of running into an extremely disturbed vampire a few weeks ago. The bastard attacked me from out of the blue. It managed to end with minimal damage, at least to me, but it got me curious. So I did a bit more in depth a study, and well... you talking about fatal sunlight and doing other things than clubbing at night rang a bell. I might not have clued in so quickly if that idiot hadn't jumped me, but vampires aren't so out of the norm for me than say, the person you were munching on earlier."
She had mentioned she'd already eaten. Dorian was fairly observant when it came to social situations, and he was quite adept at picking up on the littlest hints. He had no idea who she'd chosen as her victim, didn't know if she was one of those vampires that practiced the whole 'catch-and-release' or 'dine-and-dash' where they left their meal to die, but something about her personality didn't quite strike him as a killer. Sure, she was more than capable, but he was willing to put money on it that she didn't kill humans if she didn't have to.
Whatever she was or wasn't, Dorian shut up to give her the chance to digest this new information, and perhaps ask some more questions of her own.

Corey instinctively winced upon hearing him refer to her dinner out as 'munching.' Sure, it was one thing when she used that sort of crude terminology, but hearing him say it was a bit nauseating.
Her mind back tracked a bit to the beginning of the rant. She chose not to even acknowledge his snide remark about Twilight fans. As far as she was concerned, Edward Cullen was not even a vampire. Replaying his story about the Academy, a metaphorical wire connect in her mind. "Holy shit!" she cursed, "I just transferred in, well to the University version of it." She crossed her arms tightly over her chest and stared past him, taking in what all this meant. Okay, first, there were no vampires in any of the classes. Great, even in the world of freaks, she was a freak. Second, he also went there. Wait...if he went there, that means that he too was gifted in some way.
"So what's your power?" she asked as she eyed him from head to toe. It may have appeared suggestive, but she was really just checking for any apparent deformities that would hint at him also being a freak of nature.

So she was a University student. What a coincidence. He ran a hand through his hair, unimpressed that tonight was likely the first of many times he'd bump into her. He was hoping for a one night stand, so to speak, without the sex. Well, hey, if she was down for sex, he probably would be too, but he'd been expecting this unorthodox meeting to be a one-time thing.
When she asked about his power, he opened his mouth, then closed it. Was it really the smartest thing in the world to tell a vampire you were basically an eternal chew toy? Probably not. So he decided to neglect mentioning that particular aspect of his 'power' and focus on the second.
"Ever seen The Matrix?" He didn't really know how to describe his power any other way, "When things get really fast for everyone else, I kind of see it in slow motion. At least, I can react to things faster than everyone else. Maybe not you," Dorian waved at her dismissively, indicating her vampire speed, "But for anyone normal, I'd look pretty fast."
He wasn't aware of how unnatural Corinthia felt as a vampire. If he had been, he might not have been so insensitive to flat-out call her abnormal. But to be fair, Dorian didn't consider himself normal at all either. Sure, he held himself above those he did consider normal, which meant he held Corey in a similarly elevated state, but there was no way she could know that. He didn't even analyze it far enough to make a conscious thought on that particular subject matter.

It gave her a small touch of satisfaction to know that his powers may be rendered useless on her. For a vampire, she has always felt particularly powerless. Sure, there have been assumptions that maybe her martial arts ability came as an added bonus gift, but if so she definitely got gipped. A gift like that is something even the most normal of humans could attain over time, not exactly the most ideal. Well the vampire perks aren't exactly ones to shrug off, they tend to feel arbitrary when paired up against someone who can control your mind or set you on fire. That sounds way cooler.
"Well, that's a pretty useful gift. And who knows, maybe i would be effective against me. The whole vampire thing has been one big let down anyway, so this probably won't be any different." Her tone was remarkably nonchalant for such a dark truth, which is how she preferred it. Corey would rather crack an awkward joke over having some heart to heart discussion of ideals, yeah that would suck. Corey lifted her fingers to feel her jawline once more. The seared flesh had vanished, and was replaced by it's clear and porcelain predecessor. That was a nice perk that came with the vampire package, the rapid healing. However, if it weren't for being a vampire, the sun wouldn't have fucked her up so badly in the first place.
She looked over her shoulder, as if she were staring out the window, except the blinds were down. She was not staring at the blinds, but almost looking right through them. Her mind began to race through all the uncertainty that lied before her. She had just moved into the dorms, hasn't even started class yet. And moving in meant dropping off what few articles of clothing she had and pilfering some bedding from a local department store.
"I guess the sun's going to be out for a while," she choked out softly, realizing that she'd be imposing on him all day. "I'm sorry I got you into this, I can just wander around the hallways if you want me to go."

He chuckled quietly as she tried to make his power sound better than it was. Truthfully, he was a lot like a vampire already, with his enhanced reflexes and the ability to heal. He just didn't need to suck the blood of innocent people, which was a plus. And, thanks to his cellular regeneration, his eyesight and his hearing was above-average anyway. Yeah, he preferred his version of immortality to Corinthia's, but he wasn't going to try and rub it in her face. She didn't sound too pleased with her situation.
He leaned back in the chair and watched her as she looked toward the heavy curtains. He could almost see her train of thought, about the sun. He smirked at her comment, because of course the sun would be out for a while. Probably a whole day, who would have guessed? But instead of poking fun, he listened as she voiced her insecurities. Did she really think he was going to kick her out so she could fend for herself in the hallway? Making awkward conversation with the receptionist that would come up and ask her why she was just lurking his floor? Dorian prided himself on being a gentleman!
"I don't want you to go until you're safe to go," He told her, a hint of finality in his voice. He didn't want her worrying about interfering. "Make yourself at home. Watch some t.v. I need some sleep after working tonight, but I'll be up in a couple hours." He stood up, looking down at his bare feet on the expensive floor. "Did you need anything before I head to bed?"
Maybe she wanted to sleep too? He could bring her a pillow and a blanket if she wanted... although, he wasn't sure if vampires could sleep. Was that just another myth? He offered her a hospitable smile.
