Leo missed the signs of her emotion, too caught up in his own act. When she handed him the pen he grinned as he wrote it into the margins of the paper. "Well, we've sealed the deal then." He said capping the pen and then handing it back to her. "First date was a meeting, if you've got the number that means we have to go to the second date. I'll let you pick the plan for this, think I want to watch you drive yourself nuts over it." He said with a stupid grin, as if the decision was already made.
He looked about the library, and out a nearby window into the sun filled sky. "So what do you have planned for the rest of the day Kara?" He realized it quite oddly, he very rarely said her name. It had a curious sound to him, something almost foreign. "More work, or just trying to avoid a certain womanizing bad-boy?"

She hadn't noticed it before either, but when he spoke her name, it pulled a very peculiar, very unfamiliar response from within her. She chose to ignore it - what else could she do? - and instead offered an oblique shrug, "I planned to write my resume..." but she sounded open to another suggestion.
What had he just said moments ago? That he intended for her to plot out their 'second date'? What was their first date? When she came running to him in the middle of the night and confiscated his bed? Or did he consider this light, playful banter they were sharing a date? She supposed she owed him, and the thought made her a little squeamish. She didn't like being indebted to anyone, but if there was a man she felt she owed something to, it was definitely Leo.
He'd shown her how to live, almost literally, and now that she had a life again, she looked to him for more guidance. Now that he planned to reverse their roles, she was the ill-prepared teacher awkwardly fumbling with the lesson plan. She had a feeling he was a bit sadistic; he had to enjoy watching her squirm. There was no other explanation for this subtle cruelty. She thought about making him pity her enough that he'd take back his intentions, but the thought of provoking sympathy within him made her stomach churn even more.
She didn't like being pitied, not anymore, and especially not by the boy that was single-handedly changing her life.

"Hmmm, what was that?" Leo said, leaning in with a coy smile. "It sounded like you were trying to push me off...what's the matter, shy?" He asked with a wink. He damn well knew the answer to that one. "Come on, it's not a big deal, it could just be a lunch out or a movie or something, don't kill yourself over it. Besides wasn't the last one fun? The bike, the park, the stars? I know you'll have a blast, I'll bet my wheels on it." He said, proudly thumping his chest.
He spun around to the other side. "Don't they always say to live every day as if it was your last? Well what would you want to do if it was? No regrets, yeah?" Considering how close Kara had been to death's door recently it might have been a crass thing to say, but Leo never was one for subtly.
"What do you say?"

Kara just narrowed her eyes, but there was no real malice in them. She was a little uncomfortable with his phrasing, especially 'don't kill yourself over it', but she wasn't sensitive enough to comment or react. Instead, she pulled her fingers through her hair and let loose a silent sigh.
"If today was my last day... I'd want to ride with you again," She answered as honestly as she could. There was something about the sensation of flying through the air at unimaginable speeds, holding on for dear life. And though there was the rush of adrenaline spiked by fear, Kara knew she was safe with Leo. It was the strangest sense of security, because all her nerves fired up with caution warnings, but her mind was convinced nothing could go wrong.
He was like a roller coaster. Thrilling and exhilarating, yet time had proven he wasn't as dangerous as he looked.
She didn't pack up her things just yet - maybe Leo had other commitments he was forgetting about, and she'd wind up writing her resume as she originally planned. It would be kind of a let-down, now that she was thinking of soaring through the streets of New York, but she'd understand. After all, they hadn't arranged anything in advance... though this didn't stop her from hoping.

OOC: I know this post is tiny, but I've really got nothing else. ><
IC:
Leo listened to her speak that one sentence and grinned from ear to ear. "Now that is what I wanted to hear!" He exclaimed, jingling a set of keys from his pocket. "So ya wanna feel the breath of life again, eh? We'll see if we can't go someplace interesting tonight...in fact" He said, a sly grin splitting his face.
"Hope you're not afraid of heights. I know where we can get the best view of the city!" He said, extending his hand for the girl, as if daring her to take it.
"Think you can keep up with me? You know I don't slow down." He challenged.

It took great effort to suppress a smile at his excitement. She'd been hoping for an enthusiastic response, and Leo had a way of not disappointing on the emotional front. There was something refreshingly simple about the cause and effect of his reactions. If you pissed him off, he got angry. If you pleased him, he was happy. Kara longed for that clarity within her own emotions.
"I... I'm not sure if I'm... afraid of heights," She couldn't recall a situation where she'd been great heights above ground. She was hesitant again, the way she was whenever Leo proposed something new and possibly frightening. But if she looked at his past performances, she should trust him by now to keep her safe. So she swallowed back her fear and rose to the challenge he presented.
"You won't have to slow down," Kara assured, though her voice didn't hold the usual chill it once would. Instead that coolness was a small fire, flickering to life, ready to feed off the nearest source of energy so it could live to its full potential. And Leo had plenty of energy...
She felt safe now to collect her things, and placed them all in the backpack that was sitting beneath their table. When she was all set, she stood, unaware of the spark her eyes now held.
