Laying on the sunbathed grass she stared up at the blue sky picturing little animals in the clouds. This was the life she was back where she belonged and it was spring to boot. A juvenile chipmunk was asleep on her stomach, and a fawn rested its head on her ankle. She was waiting for Locke to finish with classes for the day so she decided to relax on the grounds. Sure she probably try to re-enroll to the school or maybe try to get into the university. But she'd been gone so long she hardly thought she'd do well in school. She didn't do well the first time around. Life was just fine without schooling thank you very much.
The fawn wiggled its ears which tickled her skin causing her to giggle. The giggling woke up the chipmunk who decided to stretch on her tummy. This lead to more giggling, more ear twitching, and the chipmunk chittered at her as she couldn't stop giggling. "It's not my fault you woke up! Blame Eva! She's the one who tickled me!"
The chipmunk turned to pounce on the fawn's head who snorted and woke up finally. Squeaking angrily up at the young doe the chipmunk jumped around Kiri's feet. The fairy girl laughed loudly as the chipmunk ranted while the fawn just stared sleepy eyed at the small rodent. The chipmunk was not using very nice language and calling the fawn not so nice things, but Kiri couldn't help but laugh.
"Now, now don't be so mean! It's not her fault her ears twitched." Then the rodent ranted how if it wasn't Kiri's fault and it wasn't the fawn's fault then who's fault was it. The fawn responded that it was the fly that had tickled its ear. The chipmunk proceeded to ramble on how he was supposed to find the specific fly that bothered that fawn. By now both Kiri and the fawn were laughing, though a deer's laughter was very quiet compared to a fae girl.
The raven that hardly left the girl's side let out a call of his version of laughter. Ruffling his feather's the raven spread his wings flying down from his perch in the nearby oak tree. He flew over calling down that the chipmunk was a hot headed little rodent and should jump in a pool of water to cool down. The raven never was one of her nicer friends. She gave the bird a look as he landed near her. "Now you three just calm down and you can return to your naps. Boy, Lietka you sure do get riled up easily."
The chipmunk flicked his tail at her before scurrying off to find a 'quiet place without bothersome fawns.' Kiri rolled her eyes and laid back once more flopping out a hand for the raven to peck at softly.

Aaran stared wistfully at the Girl who was playing with the animals. He sighed. He wasn't fully Faerie, so, he didn't know if he could do any of the normal things they could. He had wings, but he rarely used them. He was also dusty. He had no other word for the golden glittery stuff that had a habit of appearing at the most awkward of times. Especially when he sneezed. He wanted to meet this girl, he had never met any of his own kind apart from his mother.
He slowly approached, and put on his ebst nervous smile, slightly scared of the animals. He sucked in his breath. He was really useless at talking to people. Really useless. He frowned, but nonetheless stepped forward.
"Hi..." He reluctantly said before putting his hands behind his back, and looking down, almost as if ashamed. "I'm Sophie." He mumbled. He soon, however, recovered what little confidence he had, and looked up, smiling broadly. His cheeks had flushed red, but he was still smiling, despite his embarrassment. Despite his reluctance, he managed to say; "Are you a Faerie?", before releasing his breath, and nearly slumping to the ground. He had deposited his bag in the building, and so had no possessions with him but the clothes on his back. He sat on the grass, and looked at the other girl, wide eyed.

((ooc. don't worry about it at first i'm like...odd way to write. but if it's not your fault then no biggie ^_^)
Gazing up at the sky she she smiled over at her closest animal friend. The raven let out a sharp squawk like noise and she turned to see what looked like girl walking over to her. Her smile stayed in place as she sat up the raven took to the air flying back to its perch in the tree. "Hi! I'm Kiri. This is Eva and that was Mikail." She pointed at each animal in turn, Eva the fawn, and Mikail the raven.
As the shy looking girl sat down beside her she reached out a hand in welcome. Her eyebrows perked up at the question and she tilted her head in question. Then her smile returned and she nodded enthusiastically before leaning forward to spread out her black and yellow wings. Usually when people asked if she was fae they tended to want to look at her wing. "Yes! Yes, I am, see?" She fluttered her wings a bit with a bright grin. "And may I ask what you are?"
She pulled up her legs to sit indian style situating her skirt over her knees. The fawn stood slowly and edged away from the stranger her big eyes going from the golden haired fae girl to the new girl. Kiri held out her hand to the fawn her expression soft. "Come here you I'm sure this nice girl isn't going to hurt you." The small deer snorted at the new comer before taking a few tentative steps toward the outstretched hand. The fawn gave another look to the stranger then lay down next to Kiri her ears perked high as she watched the young girl sitting near them.
"Sorry bout that don't mind Eva she's shy too. I'm watching her until her mother comes back." She scratched the fawn behind the ears and smiled at the shy girl. "Have you been at the school long?"

Aaran smiled, and gazed inwonder at the wings. They were the second set he had seen and they were beautiful. He set his face determinedly, assuring himself that the girl was nice and she wouldn't mind if he messed up. She reminded him slightly of a woman he had met in India. She also had been kind - she also liked animals. Aaran knew that it must've been something to do with her being a faerie that she could speak to them. He cocked his ehad, and took her hand, the sudden contact, however shocked him, and his bio-crystalization acitivated, making him instantly cringe. He almost cried.
"I'm sorry." He said, managing to don a brave, nervous grin, and scratching the back of his head. "Does that now and again. I'm half Faeire, and half gifted, evidently..." He trailed off, examining the raven and the fawn. Then his eyes rested back on Kiri. She was absolutely beautiful, and he blushed slightly - he was half jealous, and half attracted. He was, ater all, a boy. But a boy cursed with a very feminine body, and old-fashioned parents.
"I haven't been here long. A couple of hours, actually." He said, with a sigh. "I'm quite nervous actually." He chuckled. "I came here to see if I could find some people like myself. It seems to have worked." He had disowned his father mentally, and, although he was only half Faerie, he considered this girl more family to him than any other living soul he knew, apart from his grandfather, but he wasn't entirely sure the old man was alive.
Aaran closed his eyes and almost squeezed. He felt his wings appear, and he spread them out wide. They were a green-yellow, and they were semi transluscent. Golden dust shimmered on them, making them incandescent. He knew nothing about Fae etiquette, but as Kiri had shown her wings, he thought he should do the same. However, he shuddered with the effort, and retracted them, slowly and shuddering.
"Since I'm technically only half, it's very hard, and they aren't strong enough to fly. THey only look pretty." He giggled, and inhaled some of the glitter. His eyes went wide for a second, before sneezing, and the dust scattered. He giggled again. That happened too often. He looked at Kiri like a mischeivous child.
"So... Kiri. How long have you been here?" He asked, his voice a melodic jingle of sincerity. {{OOC: I really don't mind - I don';t think your post was short at all ^^ now, let's see if we can get this formatting to work...}}

She startled a little at the sight of the crystallization but smiled after the girl pulled her hand away. “It’s alright you’ll get the hang of it with time.” Settling back with her fawn she leaned over the animal to half lie beside her. Her wings dusted softly the young animal with yellow and black dust that shimmered in the sunlight. Listening to the girl talk she realized the voice sounded a bit off, but she ignored it everyone was different. The girl seemed so shy and sweet Kiri just wanted her to feel comfortable around her.
“Only a few hours? Goodness gracious! Well, welcome to the school I’m sure you’ll like it here. There are plenty of people you’re bound to make friends with.” At the sight of the girl’s wings Kiri’s smile grew considerably and waited for the girl to finish talking before commenting. “They are lovely and a lot of people can’t fly. When I was younger I was afraid of heights and refused to fly for the longest time, so I wasn’t very good at flying.”
She giggled along with the girl at the sneeze a hand coming up to cover her mouth. “Oh, you’re adorable.” Still smiling she rubbed the fairy dust into the fawn’s fur making it almost look as though it were glowing. The fawn finally relaxed and laid her head down across Kiri’s legs. She gazed down at the fawn for a moment wondering when the mother would return before raising her eyes at the question. “I technically don’t go here, but I’ve been in the area for almost a week now. I used to go to school here, but left for a while.”
“So, Sophie, do you have any fairy gifts? I’ve seen your gifted trait but do you have a fairy trait as well?” Rubbing the soft spot behind the fawn’s ears she smiled at the girl trying to be as welcoming and friendly as possible. She loved making new friends especially when they seemed so sweet.

Aaran sighed. Would she think he was adoreable if she knew what he was. His sadness betrayed him, and he frowned. He perked up a little, when she had only been there for a week. He hoped she stayed - maybe he could be with someone to finally understand him. Be he daren't get his opes up. "I dn't have any faerie gifts." Her question shaking him out of his musings. "Not any that I know of. I can't remember my mother's. Maybe I do, but it hasn't come yet, but, I doubt it." He smiled again, but wistfully this time. He didn't really want any more powers - he had enough to cope with. Aaran already trusted this stranger innately - the opposite of how he'd usually feel. But, having never before met another of his kin, he put complete faith in her kindness. And hoped that she would do the same for him. His ways may seem as deception to most that found out - but for him, it was just a way of living. He couldn't really survive any other way. Many men had oggled him in india, and he found it disconcerting. The same might happen here. BUt through that, he knew that he could make friends, and get through everything. It was in his nature to pull through, any way possible - be it by toughening up when encecary, or taking the hurt and rejuvenating, stronger than ever. He stood up, and yawned and stretched. The afternoon was slowly wearing on, and he wanted to get somewhere he could see the sunset in time. He walked slowly over and ran the back of his hand down the fawn's back, smiling to Kiri. He looked longingly at the sky. Although he had seemed impassive about his inability to fly, he longed to eb able to soar through the skies. But his wings too weak. Far too weak. So he added it to something else on the list of things he could never do. "Kiri, will you come with me to watch the sunset?" He asked. In India, the sun had been absolutely huge, and had dominated the sky, and so the sunsets had been magnificent. He didn't expect the same here, but nonetheless, he wanted to see it, and it would be nice to be with his new friend while he did. He offered his hand to help her up, and smiled warmly. (Sorry I took so long - we all can't post as fast as you unfortunately )

The warm sun wonderful against her skin and she lifted her face to it with her eyes closed as she listened to the girl. "Well, maybe when you're able to control your crystallization you'll get your fairy gift. Or you won't at all. I'm sure you'll have plenty to worry about with just your gifted abilities." She titled her head a bit to smile at the girl before turning her face again toward the sunlight. It was good to have spring back. The winter had felt so long this year and so very cold. To have the bright sunlight back did her spirits good. Course being with her love again helped.
A shadow moved and she opened her eyes realizing it was just the girl standing up. She watched as the shy girl moved over to the napping fawn glad to see that she was coming out of her shell a bit. The fawn's ear twitched as the stranger's hand ran down her back and an eye opened to peer at Kiri. The fae rubbed the fawn behind her ears again as if to tell the young doe everything was alright. Then she turned her gaze back to the new possible friend. Seeing the girl's stare at the sky she also looked upward.
"Beautiful isn't it? I love laying on the grass and staring up at the clouds." It had been a while since she was able to just sit and stare at the sky, but now that things had settled down it was nice. In the past she was able to sit and stare at the sky for hours. She couldn't count the number of drawings, and paintings she'd done of the sky. It was her inspiration for so many of her art works. Though anything of nature could inspire her to draw.
Interested by the question she thought about it for a moment then stood eagerly. "Sure! Where did you want to watch it from? I don't know this area, but I guess you don't know it too well either." Eva lifted her head and sleepily stared at the two girls. Yawning the fawn stood and nuzzled Kiri's hand gazing up at her in question. "It's alright, Eva, you can come with. I'll tell Mikail to let your mom know where we are."
Turning back to Sophie she beamed at the girl. "Well, lead the way. I think there's a high spot over in that direction, but we could always watch from a tower too." She pointed toward the southwest to indicate the high spot then pointed toward the school for the tower. "It's up to you."
(Eh, yesterday was sunday had a lot of free time in the evening. I won't be super poster everyday.)

Aaran smiled at the prospect of watching the sun set. And so he swivelled around and started walking in the direction Kiri had incidated, stumbling and falling over in the process. He winced in pain - he had grazed his elbow. It quickly repaied itself and they walked on. He had some idea of where he was going, and led the way with as much confidence as he could muster.
"Kiri, why are you here?" Aaran asked with genuine curiosity. "You're a faerie, but isn't this school a school for the gifted, if you were here before?" He asked. He knew somethign had been niggling at his mind. It didn't make sense. His grandfather had said specifically; "Academy for the gifted." Rather, he assumed the old man was his grandfather. He didn't really know.
He reached the top of the hill and looked out. He could see the white sun slowly descending through the fury red sky. The sea was calm and glistened like a thousand blinking lights. THe sight was truly breathtaking, and Aaran slumped down, and gazed at it. The sunset had always affected him in this way. He gave thanks to Aditi for the light of day, and the splendor of the sunset, and that it would return.
Aaran had learned of Aditi in India, where the local women worshipped her, and he joined in their worship. She was the godess of the universe, and the mother of all. The sun was one of her most blessed children, and Aaran intended to treasure it. Aditi was the only deity he reckognised, and he did not pray - merely give thanks, each time he saw her works of wonderment.
He would not, of course, say all this to Kiri. He dared not tell anyone of his secret beliefs, no matter how close to him they were. He considered it improper. He would simply say;
"The sunsets in India were incredible. The sun was as wide as the horizon itself." He sighed wistfully. In India, he had worked as a washerwoman, somethign hat startled the locals. THey expected a white person fluent in english to get a high paying job (As most white people who are fluent in english do), but he worked for outrageously low rates, washing clothes and lookign after babies, to help communities. It worked for him, and after their initial suspicion, the people accepted him readily - he was willing to work for low, and they needed work doing and they were poor. They fed and housed him (always thinking he was a "her") and taught him their language (a language that he does not know the name of to this day) and about their religion.
This is what made him partly who he was. He seemed weak, and innocent, but he was one of the strongest souls there was, and he was always rying his best to get that through. He blinked, and realized he was crying. He would pass it off as staring at the sun too long - something he had been doing. He stood up, and put on the bravest, most nervous face he could and turned to Kiri.
"Kiri, could you carry me?" He asked. "I don't mean, carry me, but, fly? I could help - my wings just aren't good enough to fly by themselves. I don't weigh much!" He said. His face beamed with hope. He sincerely hoped that the other girl wouldn't decline his offer, and he held out his hand.
{{OOC: I see! I thought "OMGWTHFTW!? HOW CAN ANYONE POST THAT QUICKLY!?" lol. I'm sorry, I'm kinda taking this thread everywhere, but if nothign happens, it's gonna get kinda boring, isn't it? xD If you like, you can just take it in another direction - I don't mind ^^}}

Following the girl with the fawn walking beside her she glanced at the girl at the question. "Why am I here? I'm here because the one I love is here. But the school isn't just for the Gifted it's for young individuals who are, well how do I put this." One hand on the young doe's back she lifted her other hand to fiddle with her necklace as she thought and then continued to speak.
"There are gifted with a little 'g' and there are Gifted with a big 'g'. The big 'g' children have unique powers like you do. Then there are gifted children with a little 'g' and they are like me. Fairies, dragons, werewolves, demons, and vampires. Though I don't know how many of each of those races are at the school." She gave the girl another warm smile as she walked along with her bare feet enjoying the feel of the soft grass. "Do you understand or did I just bungle that up?"
Once they'd reached the top of the hill she stood and stared out her gaze lifting up to spot Mikail soaring overhead. Always watching over her she was glad mother had sent him with her. He alone stayed with her always. At the mention of India Kiri turned her gaze to the girl. "India? Is that where you came from? I've never met someone from India before." She loved hearing about all those different places most of which she would never see.
Spotting the tears her heart dropped and she took a tentative step toward Sophie. "Are you alright? Did I say something wrong? Or do you miss your homeland?" That was something she could understand completely. She had dearly missed her fairy home and missed her mother even more. Almost three years had passed in-between seeing her mother, which had made the reunion almost bittersweet. Because they both knew that Kiri wasn't staying forever.
Eyes wide at the newest question she gave the girl a look over. Kiri had done a lot of training over the year so she had some confidence in being able to carry the girl. Besides Sophie was small enough it shouldn't be that big of a problem. "Okay, sure! I bet you're lighter than a fawn." Which she'd carried during her training. She turned to the fawn and told her to hide in the nearest tall grass until she returned. Kiri held up her hand and the raven landed quickly.
"Watch over Eva. I'll be right back. If anything comes toward her that is dangerous let me know." With that she turned to Sophie and opened her arms while spreading her wings. "I'll be sure to go slow. Is this your first time flying?"

Aaran bubbled warmly at the thought of being able to fly. He looked at Kiri and unfurled his own wings, and took her hand. He was positively beaming now, and he quickly threw himself onto Kiri in a hug. He quickly let go, however. He hadn't really realized but he was holding hands with a girl, and he had just hugged her. And she was with someone else. Not that he was interested - he had told himself that he couldn't - wouldn't think of anyone in that way. If he was going to deceive people like this, he would no way mess with anyone's feelings. So, he held tightly onto Kiri's hand and braced himself for the oncoming stuggle with his wings.
"I wasn't born in India. I was born in England." He sighed. Most people could tell that he was brittish ebcause of his acccent. Maybe not everyone was familiar with it, however. "I lived in England most of my life, before going on a pilgrimmage to the river Ganges. The people there were nice. They looked after their own, there was a good community, where I was." He stared at her wistfully. "Shall we go?" And he stretched his wings as far as they could go, ready to help Kiri when they were flying.
"It is my first time, technically. My wings have saved me before - I can't quite fly, but I can drift. I use them like a parachute. SO I'm kind of used to being in the air. There's no nead to go slow!" He exclaimed, bobbing up and down in exitement, shaking strange golden dust everywhere. He was rearing to go, and the sunlight sparked across him making his face literally glow with exitement.

She laughed when the girl suddenly hugged her and continued to smile when the girl pulled away. Happy people made her happy, though she was happy a lot anyway. When the girl corrected the misconception about where she hailed from Kiri nodded not really knowing much about any of these places. She was about to ask what a pilgrimmigie thing was but didn't feel as though it were the right time.
"Well, I'm glad you've been in the air some, but I think to start off we should still go a bit slow." Take off always took a bit of work anyway especially if she couldn't have a running start. Let alone adding extra weight to carry with her. "I don't know if I can lift you with just holding hands. How weak are your wings?"
Kiri started flapping her delicate butterfly wings sending fairy dust around them. Slowly she lifted in the air and she held tight to the other girls hand. If the girl lifted without much help then Kiri wouldn't have to carry her, carry her. But if the girl needed extra help then they might have to link arms or something closer so she could bear more of the weight. Other than animals she couldn't remember if she had ever carried a person before. As far as she could remember she hadn't so the experience might be a bit awkward. But it would give her practice if Locke ever wanted to be carried into the air.
"Now if you start getting tired, or scared and want to land just let me know. I'll find a landing place as soon as I'm able." She almost giggled at how serious she sounded. It was almost as though she were a teacher, or a mother talking to her student/child. It's not that she thought of Sophie in that way, but in this area she felt a bit more confident in herself. She just hoped nothing bad happened.

"My wings are too weak to lift me off the ground for long, but, i can stay in the air for a little while when I'm up there. All too often, those aren't the greated circumstances, though" he laguhed and scratched the back of his head. He was positively beaming, and he wwas still very exited. He had just about managed to lift himself into the air next to Kiri, holding her hand very tightly. When he was there, he could feel the strength of Kiri's wings and used that to help him stay afloat.
It wasn't all that difficult when he ahd gotten the hang of it, though every now and again he faltered dangerously. But hope, and belief in himself kept him afloat, more than anything else. Self-fait was something he had not harboured in a long while and he smiled brightly at his own belief. He knew he could do it. He knew it.
He surged upwards slightly, dragging kiri along with him, and started flitting about jerkily. he soon felt ill because of this, however, and stopped. He smiled apologetically at kiri, and continued to bubble.
He was tired, but exited. he could see the ground beneath him, and adrenaline surged through his tiny body. He enjoyed it immensely. The human part of him was scared, but the Fae half was feelign freer than he had ever felt before.
((OOC: Let us assume that the power of flight comes not from the wings beating, but the power associated with them, so that when using the power of flight, the power of Kiri's and Aaran's wings is shared and divided equally between them. If you get what I mean. I'm posting this in ythe thread ebcause it is directly related tot eh thread's content.))

She flapped her wings hard a bit surprised that the girl was able to fly at all being a half fae, but maybe it was a special quirk. Or maybe the girl’s parent that wasn’t a fae was half fae which made Sophie three fourths fae? She didn’t really know for she wasn’t all that good at math, but the girl was flying somehow the how wasn’t all that important. Taking to the air she watched her jerk around but didn’t say anything either the girl would gain some control or Kiri would have to step in.
“How high did you want to go?” If they went too high the landing might be shaky and maybe dangerous seeing as only one of them really had any flying ability. But she also understood if the girl wanted to go higher because to think to have wings and not really be able to use them. She kept a tight grip on the girl’s hand in case she needed to pull her up, or tug her close to catch her if she started falling. The girl didn’t look all that heavy so carrying her wouldn’t be that big of a deal though it wasn’t like Kiri was a great weight lifter. And fae weren’t super human strong, so if they stayed up too long they were both going to be in trouble.
Kiri looked down spotting the fawn in the spot she’d told her to go, and Mikail circled over Eva every once in a while glancing up to check on Kiri. Her personal guardian while she was away from home though how a raven could save her from harm was beyond her. Sometimes she thought he acted a bit too human-like but she just attributed that to the fact that he’d been with her mother so long. Turning her attention back to Sophie she smiled at the girl hoping she was having a good time. “Just let me know when you want to land.”
((ooc. It’s best not to assume things don’t want to break any rules here. But I think we got all that stuff figured out. If you have any other questions you’re unsure of best to check than rather assume. Not lecturing just giving advice. ^_^))

Aaran was about to reply, when he suddenly dropped form the sky. He fell flat on his face, but luckily, he managed to crystalize himself in time. So, now he was embedded firmly in the ground, not daring to uncrystalize himself, unless the pressure of the earth around him crushed him.
Slowly, he yanked himself out, his head covered in dirt, which he promtly shook off. Luckily, there had been no damage done - he was just a little shaken. Oh dear. He sighed, and sat awkwardly on the ground. Why did these things always happen to him? He couldn't bear to be carried, he's feel too pathetic.
He groaned, and fell flat on his back, looking at the red sky. he would never fly, it seemed. Oh well, all was not lost. At least he had made a new friend, and it looked as though his new life wouldn't be too bad.
((OOC Yeah. But since I'd been told that Fae were magical and noot sciency anyways It was more of an educated guess. Sorry for short post.))

She was enjoying flying with someone again and was planning on going higher. But one second they were enjoying themselves flying somewhat steadily, and the next second Sophie was suddenly disappeared. Kiri didn't even feel a tug on her hand signaling that the girl was falling. Eyes going wide she zipped down to the other girl's side. Sophie didn't look too hurt considering she'd crystallized in time, but it couldn't have been fun falling. They hadn't been too terribly high lucky for the half fae, but it still couldn't have been pleasant.
"Are you alright? I can't believe you just fell like that. Why didn't you tell me you were losing your grip?" Kiri knelt beside the other girl hands reaching out to check it she was alright. "One second you were there and the next you weren't! I'm glad we decided to take it slow, and not zip up high. Otherwise you probably would've gotten really hurt!"
A motion in the air caught the fae girl's eye and Kiri turned her gaze upward toward the motion. It was Mikail above them guiding the fawn to their side. It wasn't a very successful trip into the sky but they could always try again later. Maybe Kiri would have to do more carrying next time to make things easier on Sophie. She was shocked that they girl could move her wings at all, and that she even had wings. A lot of half fae didn't even have that.
"You don't look hurt, but I do hope you are okay." She tucked some stray strands behind her ears smiling down at the girl. "We can try again another time if you want."
