Honestly, Casey hadn't even considered that Fey might have caught wind of something before the Academy had. It was certainly a possibility, and he was willing to give her that much credit. After all, she'd been doing this for years, and, if memory served, had picked up the trade from her parents. Or something like that.
"Further north, actually. Washington, to be precise," he offered. No reason to hide the destination now. Heck, for that matter, no real reason to hide the destination period. Fey wasn't in the finding people business.
Casey resolved to tactfully ignore the slight jab at him. It was clearly teasing, and even if it wasn't, it wasn't worth getting worked up about. He simply continued as if Fey hadn't mentioned that bit.
"People are assigned to duties that fit their personalities. You wouldn't want a big, scary war dragon to go fetching children. And a kind hearted healer makes a very poor demon exterminator," he explained. "So if you did sign up, chances are you'd be doing things similar to what you're doing now. They'd use you for emergencies and stuff too, of course. Like if the Academy was attacked or something. But even then, you'd be doing what you were best suited for."
He smiled at her, raising his brows, "The Academy may be horrible at many things, but they sure know how to use people."

Fey had always thought Washington was somewhere in the middle of the States, in its own little area, D.C. or whatever, but she wasn't about to argue with a bona fide American citizen about the geography of his own capital city. Of course, she didn't have a clue Washington was also a state.
She listened raptly as Casey spoke, the idea of working for the Academy sounding better and better as he went along. It seemed like she was right; she would be more or less doing the same thing she was doing already, but as a steady job. That sounded pretty darn okay to her.
"I'm not sure I like the sound of being 'used'," she teased, "but other than that, I like it. Where do I sign up?"
You're not going to think about it, hmm? Maybe, do some research? See if it's all it's cracked up to be? No? Just going to jump right into it? Well, I suppose I shouldn't expect much more from you.
"Excuse me for a moment," Fey said brightly, and then she spun on her heel. "Hush your mouth, Odji; you're the one who told me to get a job!" she furtively whispered at her pendant.
I don't even have a mouth.
But he was quiet after that, so she dropped the subject and turned back around.
"Sorry," she said, not sounding sorry at all. "Where were we?"

Talking to a pendant just didn't seem all that weird to Casey, really. Probably came from dealing with all the craziness that he dealt with on a regular basis. It was just one more interesting quirk to deal with. and if you needed a pow-wow, so be it. Might as well argue with the sentient jewelry a little while longer.
"Uh, discussing signing up for an Academy job," offered Casey, once Fey addressed him again. He glanced down at the pendant, pointing. "Do you, uh, need more time to talk things over? There's no rush. I already completed my last assignment, so all I have to do now is go report in."
Casey pointed in a random direction, then shrugged. "Yeah, I can put that off for a while."
He looked down at the pendant, wondering if there was some way he could hear it too. Nice to know if Fey was crazy before she got recruited. Better than finding out after the fact. Not that it would make a difference to the Academy. They hired all kinds of crazy people.
"They provide room and board too," he offered. "And health-care and all that. But, uh, I'm really not a recruiter or anything..."

He's staring at your breasts.
"He's staring at you."
Why would he be staring at me? You're the one with breasts.
Fey resisted the urge to facepalm, instead trying to concentrate on what it was Casey was saying. "No, it's fine, I've decided already," she said testily, her patience worn thin by Odji's constant blathering that seemed, for some reason, worse today.
When he offered to put off reporting in, apparently to help her with getting a job, she smiled genuinely, though it may have had more to do with the fact that Odji had, for the moment, shut up. "That would be wonderful of you, than---"
He clearly wants to have intercourse with you.
Fey's face went slightly red, though it appeared to be more out of anger than embarrassment. She paused for a moment, took a deep breath, and removed the pendant from her neck, ignoring Odji's protesting as he realized what she was doing. It wasn't often she took the pendant off, and as she removed it and held it in her hand, she had no idea what to do with it. She felt like she was missing a big part of her, and now she had to find another spot for that huge piece.
"Health care sounds great. Shall we get going?"
She sounded as if she was trying to ignore all that had just happened, even though the pendant was still held awkwardly in her hand. There was no way it would fit in her pocket, though, and she hadn't brought a purse, so there it would stay.

Why exactly was Fey acting that awkward? What was the amulet saying to her? Casey just couldn't figure it out, and probably didn't want to know. In fact, he actually knew the truth, he'd probably start blushing and blubbering.
He was a Wingrose, after all.
"Uh, yeah, I was staring at," he pointed at the amulet, now in Fey's hands. He figured he should at least try and keep up his side of the conversation.
"Uh, you're, kinda..." Casey pointed at the reddening face, then thought better of commenting on it. Whatever she was arguing with the amulet about had clearly gotten her either upset or embarrassed. And neither was anything that Casey should be meddling in.
"Yeah, I should be able to get you all situated. They'll probably pair you with an experienced agent for various assignments..." Casey continued as he continued walking along, nodding to himself.
OoC: drop curtain?
