Veronica watched her insults hit home, but had no chance to apologize. James had already started to run at her, police baton in hand. Suddenly, Veronica was a lot less apologetic.
James, however made one crucial mistake. He was right when he assumed Veronica would shield for his fake out, but he mistakingly assumed that she was going to stay still. Veronica didn't even know that James was faking her out. She just assumed that he missed her. As soon as James' attack failed to touch Veronica, she started to attack.
Veronica pounced.
Her entire diamond body took a flying tackle to James, his second attack resulting in only a smashed baton. Veronica was aiming for James' chest, trying to knock him down unconcious. If he was still concious, she would pin him like he pinned her, only there would be no dramatic escape.
Arms outstretched, crystal hair everywhere... a human cannonball was flying at James.

James felt the baton splinter in his hands, right to his fingers. He'd assumed Veronica would remain stationary, the way she had when Arnold attempted to club her over the head. The man was totally unprepared for her to dodge his attack. He'd drastically miscalculated, and was shoved backward by Veronica's devastating force.
He tripped over his own feet and went down hard, bruising his tailbone. He screamed, and the crowd roared. He knew the game was over. James curled into a ball, shielding his injured hand, and stopped moving.
"Guard number three, are you down for the count?" The MC asked. When James nodded feebly, the crowd belted out their approval. The announcer continued, "Wonderful! Veronica has successfully disabled all three of her opponents! Congratulations, Ms Park, you're going on to Stage II!"
James slowly crawled away, rubbing his bottom. His one hand looked like a rabid cat had attempted to eat it, while the other had wooden thorns embedded in it from his last attack. His arse smarted from the final fall - they weren't paying him enough for this kind of injury. The audience jeered at him as he retreated, and with much effort he flashed them all a very rude hand gesture before the medics pulled him off the stage.
The door Veronica entered from opened, and the MC spoke once more.
"What a fantastic show! The guards have been frightened right off the stage! Brava! We'll be seeing much more of Ms Park, of that I'm sure! Why don't you take a bow?"
The erruption of cheers was nearly deafening.

She had won... she actually did it! Veronica looked up at the cheering crowd. She couldn't even hear herself think, but she didn't have to. All that was filling her mind was the sweet, sweet feeling of victory. A huge smile spread on her face, and she lifted up her arms in a champion pose. Laughing, she yelled into her mike.
"Yeah! Hahaha! Woo! Yeah!" Her shouts of triumph and euphoria rang out. Somewhere in the back of her mind she figured she should apologize to the guard, but he probably wouldn't hear her... and he did throw the first punch, after all.
Veronica gave the crowd an exaggerated bow, then walked off the stage still beaming. She was directed by an employee to get washed up and changed in the girl's locker room for the afterparty. Still unable to wipe her smile off her face, she entered the empty, quiet locker room.
The clock said that only a few minutes had passed, but it felt like hours for Veronica. As she stepped into her shower stall, she marveled at how much life could change in those few minutes. Minutes she would remember for probably the rest of her life.
